The Written Proposal Description of the toy design The Wild Jeep Safari has an eye-catching cheetah design that is bright and colorful. Both girls and boys will enjoy playing with this toy. Wild Jeep Safari comes with a 3V electric motor. The car is can be connected to an AC/ DC battery, and climbs up a 30 degree ramp. It also travels over a course of 3 meters. The Wild Jeep Safari is a motorized car set that comes with many accessories: chassis, wheels, motor, with compound gears with a ratio of 45:1. Wild Jeep Safari is great. It’s fun, not messy and the kids are sure to love playing with it.

Explanation of why the design will appeal to 6 to 10 year old girls and boys For this project we investigated by interviewing and conducting surveys to children between 6 and 10 years old and their parents. From this investigation we can say that children at least get 1 car on wheels a year. Children love animals, both girls and boys feel attracted to these creatures. We found out that boys are not only interested in toys on wheels but girls too. Girls like the idea of having a toy car of an animal or with toy animals. And boys like the idea, too but in form of a truck that can climb ramps and carry stuff. Most toys cars are purchased by the child’s own parent, talking with parents we found out that they are looking for a safe, educational and long lasting car. Price isn’t a great issue for them. We also learned that parents think their child would like a truck or a race car in bright colors with either an animal shape or with his or her name.

Performance criteria in the RFP When dealing with the performance criteria Wild Jeep Safari meets the 30 degree slope in a distance of 1 meter. It’s build with the enough gears to meet these criteria. It takes around 9.57 seconds to cross from a standing start under its own power for a 1 meter distance. It also has the power to carry extra weight. Wild Jeep Safari has a combination of 1: 45 so it can climbs slopes of 30. Our Gear Ratio is 45 : 1 We use: 3

fraction:

each

1:3 x 1:3 x 1:5 x 1:1 = 1:45 It climbs a 30 degree slope crossing 1 meter in 9.57 seconds Knowing that

Speed = distance Time So

v= d t

v= 1 m 9.57 s

Speed: 0.105 meters per seconds

It has a force of 3 Newtons.

Prototype toy’s functional characteristic Wild Jeep Safari functional characteristics are design to be use in ramps of 30 degrees slopes or higher. You can also place a cage where kids can carry their favorite toy animal. It design also includes lights. Our vehicle may also be used in flat surfaces where it is able to move forward and even pull its attached cage. Appearance of the toy The Wild Jeep Safari looks as real 4 x 4 Jeep. It is cover with imitation jaguar skin. You can turn on the lights and has a cage where children can carry their favorite toy animals. It includes 4 doors, 7 windows. It is design this way so kids can imagine they are in the jungle. We also include the Honeywell logo on the back of the car as if was the car’s plate.

Consumer research We gather information about our potential customers by interviewing children between 6 and 10 years old and their parents. We ask 46 kids and 21 parents with children in that age group. We interview 61% boys. Children have received at least 1 toy on wheels a year. Most kids learn from a toy from the TV or from another child and their parents buy the toy. We found out kids wanted a truck with a shape or design of an animal with bright colors and that the car climb up a hill. When we ask them want shape they wanted 17 preferred an animal and 15 a truck, that’s why we came up with an idea of a truck with imitation skin. With the colors they wanted brown, black and gold. They also told us they like stripes. 63% of the children interview wanted a car that can climb up a hill. So we build a car that could climb up a hill, has camouflage colors with prints has lights can carry a cage and that can be used by a boy or a girl.
