From London Heathrow Airport… Travel from Heathrow Airport to Nottingham by coach (bus) The easiest way to travel to Nottingham from Heathrow Airport is by coach (inter-city bus services are called coach services in the UK). The coach is more direct and cheaper than the train. Coach services from Heathrow run regularly and the journey takes between three and five hours, depending on traffic. You can see full details of the coach services on the National Express website. Tickets cost approximately £30. You can book online on the National Express website or by telephone: +44 (0)871 781 8181. You will need a credit or debit card to book. You will be issued with an e-ticket which you must print and show to the driver. Alternatively, you can buy your ticket from the National Express ticket office in the Central Bus Station or in Terminal 5 on the day of arrival. However, we do recommend that you book online in advance. If your flight is delayed and you are late for your coach please visit the National Express ticket office in Heathrow Airport Central Bus Station. If you arrive at Terminals 1 or 3: The coach services for Nottingham depart from the Central Bus Station which is a five minute walk from the terminal buildings. Follow the signs for the Central Bus Station. If you arrive at Terminal 4: You can use a free bus transfer service to the Central Bus Station from Stop 7 outside arrivals. If you arrive at Terminal 5: The coach services for Nottingham depart from Stops 13-16 outside the terminal building. The coach drivers can help you with your luggage. They allow two medium-sized suitcases weighing up to 20kg each plus one small piece of hand luggage per person. Travel from Heathrow Airport to Nottingham by train You will first need to take the London Underground Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Kings Cross St Pancras station. Find out more about the London Underground. You can then catch a direct train from St Pancras to Nottingham. Train tickets costs approximately £30 - £70. You can book your ticket online on the National Rail website. We recommend that you book your ticket in advance as this will make it cheaper. The journey time is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. If you have very heavy luggage, changing trains at Kings Cross St Pancras might be difficult. In this case, we recommend you use a coach service (see above) instead of a train.

From Birmingham Airport… Travel from Birmingham Airport to Nottingham by coach (bus) The easiest way to travel to Nottingham from Birmingham Airport is by coach. You can see full details of the coach services on the National Express website. Tickets cost approximately £15. You can book online on the National Express website or by telephone: +44 (0)871 781 8181. You will be issued with an e-ticket which you must print and show to the driver. (Please do not select the ‘pick up from collection point’ option as this refers to collection from Birmingham city centre and not Birmingham Airport.) The National Express coach departs from bus stop G in front of Terminal 1 (Terminals 1 and 2 are next to each other - it is just a few minutes’ walk between them). You will need to change coaches at Birmingham Coach station, Digbeth. ask the driver if you need help. The journey takes around 20 minutes from the airport to Birmingham and 1 hour 45 minutes from Birmingham to Nottingham. The coach drivers can help you with your luggage. They allow two medium-sized suitcases weighing up to 20kg each plus one small piece of hand luggage per person. Travel from Birmingham Airport to Nottingham by train You will first need to take the Air-Rail Link from the terminal building to Birmingham International train station. This is a free service which operates approximately every two minutes. The journey time is approximately two minutes. At Birmingham International train station there is a ticket office where you can buy your train tickets. A ticket to Nottingham costs approximately £25 (depending on what time of day you travel). The staff at the ticket office will tell you which ticket you need. You will need to change trains at Birmingham New Street and get on the train for Nottingham. You can also book your ticket in advance on the National Rail website and then collect your tickets from the self-service ticket machines at the station. The journey time from here is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. If you have heavy luggage, changing trains might be difficult for you. In this case, we recommend you use a coach service (see above) instead of a train. If you use the coach you will still have to change in Birmingham but it will be a lot easier.

From Manchester Airport… Travel from Manchester Airport to Nottingham by coach (bus) There are regular coaches departing from Manchester Airport to Nottingham. Follow signs for ‘The Station,’ which is Manchester Airport’s transport station. You can see full details of the coach services on the National Express website. Please be aware that you may need to change coaches. Ask the driver if you are unsure. The journey takes approximately four hours. Tickets cost approximately £20. You can book online on the National Express website or by telephone(from outside UK): +44 (0)871 781 8181. You will need a credit or debit card to book. You will be issued with an e-ticket which you must print and show to the driver. From East Midlands Airport… Travel from East Midlands Airport to Nottingham by bus The easiest way to travel to Nottingham from East Midlands Airport is by bus. The 24 hour Skylink bus service travels frequently to Nottingham. You can catch the Skylink bus directly outside the terminal building. Tickets cost £5 per person and you can by your ticket from the bus driver. The journey from the airport to Nottingham takes 30-40 minutes. The bus will arrive at Nottingham Broadmarsh Bus Station.

From London Stansted Airport… Travel from Stansted Airport to Nottingham by coach (bus) The easiest way to travel to Nottingham from Stansted Airport is by coach (bus). You can book online on the National Express website or by telephone: +44 (0)871 781 8181. You will need a credit or debit card to book. From London Gatwick Airport… Travel from Gatwick Airport to Nottingham by coach (bus) The easiest way to travel to Nottingham from Gatwick Airport is by coach (bus). However, we do recommend that you book online in advance. The journey time is approximately 4-5 hours. If you arrive at the North Terminal: Coach services depart from the lower level outside international arrivals. Travel from Gatwick Airport to Nottingham by train You will need to take a train from Gatwick Airport to Kings Cross St Pancras Station. You can then get a direct train to Nottingham. Train tickets costs approximately £70 and you can book your ticket online on the National Rail website. The journey time is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes.

When you arrive in Nottingham… Arrive at Nottingham train station There is a taxi rank outside the main exit of the train station. Taxis to the accommodation will be no more that £6 or £7. If you are staying in Sandby Halls you can get on the tram (destinations Phoenix Park or Hucknall) and get off the tram at Nottingham Trent University. Please buy ticket before you get on the tram. If you are staying at Global Point you can get the tram and get off at the Old Market Square. Arrive at the bus (coach) station The bus station is called the Broadmarsh Bus Station and is a few minutes’ walk from the train station. Take the exit marked ‘Exit to taxis and Carrington St’. There is a taxi rank located opposite this exit.
