November: The preparation day for the winter chaplains in Wengen and Zermatt took place in October. Pray for the team as they get ready for the season and for Jim Perryman as he plans the 2016 summer season. December: Jim is in Zermatt and Wengen this week visiting hotels and preparing the churches for the new season. Pray for good contacts to be made and for the chaplains in resort over Christmas: Elizabeth Bussmann (Wengen) and John Gulland (Zermatt). January: It is the Lauberhorn World Cup Ski race in Wengen this month. Thousands of extra visitors will be there. Pray for opportunities for Roger Scoones to share the good news of the gospel. February: At the mid-point of the winter season, pray for the small group of local supporters in Wengen and Zermatt, especially giving thanks for Maggie Gerber, our local Church Representative in Wengen, as she continues to faithfully support our seasonal chaplains. November: For the flourishing of home groups; the preparation of lay ministers; for our ‘Icons of Egypt’ programme and deepening trust in the gospel. December: For a Holy Advent and determination to focus on the preparation of hearts and minds. January: For a good group to start Catechism classes. February: For an encouraging, well-attended and united AGM with God's vision at the centre.

November: Pray that we will be able to finish the year financially healthy, we struggle as our Sudanese church has grown to over 1100 members. December: Pray for our plans to purchase a new church building for our Sudanese community. This is a major challenge for us. January: Pray that we will find a new Egyptian Priest to lead our Egyptian congregations. February: Pray for the preparations for a summer camp that we organise for about fifty Egyptian kids from our church and beyond. November: For Drew Schmotzer as he ministers at Holy Trinity, Algiers after the departure of Revd Hamdy. December: Arrangements to work out for Revd Gus and Marliese to arrive, be granted a residence visa and take up leadership of Holy Trinity, Algiers. January: Encouragement of national members of Holy Trinity in their growing in faith and training for leadership. February: Completion of the agreement between the Diocese and FCO that will allow the redevelopment and use for ministry of the building on the church site. November: For Bill and Hilary Musk as they begin their retirement after seven years at St. George's church. December: For the practical outworking of the vision meeting back in October. January: Smooth progress in the legal and practical aspects of building the proposed St. Cyprian Centre on the church site. February: For the elected government and for security in the country. November: For safety for church members, especially those who travel to Tripoli for services each Friday. December: Clear guidance for the future ministry of both Revd Vasihar and Revd Ayo, both now need to move away from Tripoli to be closer to/more accessible for needy family members. January: For the country of Libya to come to its senses and agree a way forward. February: For the longer term ministry of Christ the King and for its involvement with economic migrants, refugees and those trafficked.

December: For opportunities for outreach in carol and other advent and Christmas services throughout December. For the Vrolijk family celebrating their first Christmas in Brussels. January: For the church council in their responsibility for seeking and implementing the Lord's vision for Holy Trinity. February: For ministry among the children and youth who are a large group within Holy Trinity. November: For the ongoing discipleship and mentoring of young professionals in the EU Institutions, that they may grow in faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Also for the Chapel for Europe, which is hosting large conferences in November. December: Please pray that as the Institutions wrap up this first term that hearts and minds will be open to the Lordship of Jesus, as we live through Advent and Christmas. That the generosity of God may inspire the same generosity of spirit in Brussels. January: As the new year begins, pray that as interns finish their contracts and as new interns arrive that relationships will end well and for new connections to be made. February: Pray for the ongoing work and for relationships being built with young professionals. November: Please pray for Jack as he attends the C of E ‘Shared Conversations on Sexuality’ (9,10,11) as Bishop Robert's nominee: pray for discernment, wisdom, orthodoxy and compassion that our Church may move forward in Jesus Christ together on this issue. December: Pray for the Carol Service (13), structured around a new art installation in the church on the theme of 'Parable', that the 'analogies/illustrations' in the exhibition may be seen by those who come as 'parables' about the power of Jesus. January: Please pray for our students as they return refreshed from vacation only to find themselves in the

middle of exams! Pray too for Jack in his dual role as pastor and professor, that he will be caring to students even when they've done no work! February: For Jack as he ministers in the Pro-Cathedral, as well as the state roles he fulfils. DAY 6 The English Church, Ostend-Bruges

November: Give thanks as we moved to a new worship location and to our local Roman Catholic church allowing us to use their church building for our Sunday and special services for three years. Pray for the start of the renovation of our church building. December: Give thanks for our joint Advent Service with the Protestant church and the lovely fellowship that followed afterwards. Pray for all our members, visitors and tourists who will come to our Christmas services, that they may be spiritually nourished. January: For the members of the chaplaincy council as they continue in their commitment to lead the mission of the chaplaincy and for genuine openness and humility from all in position of responsibility. Give thanks for good ecumenical relationships and services with other Christian churches in Bruges and Ostend. February: Pray for the chaplain, away in Israel-Palestine on pilgrimage with pastors of other churches. November: Please pray for those taking part in our Equipped To Lead course, subtitled Scripture and Issues Facing Christians Today. We are looking at ‘hot topics’ such as Death and Dying; Health and the Quality of Life; Sex and Sexuality; Responding to the Growth of Radical Islam; Broken Relationships; How the Internet Changes our Lives; What does 50 Shades say about our Society; Migration; Salvation; Spiritual Warfare. December: Today we are hosting a service with St. Paul’s British Primary School. They are bringing music from I-Sing-Pop and our SPLASH children will do a nativity play. Please pray for this outreach opportunity. January: Pray for Mark and Larissa Penn as they move back to Australia. They have been volunteers with us for three years and their departure will leave significant gaps in our music, youth and outreach areas. Pray for them and for folk to volunteer in these ministries. February: Our Church Weekend Away (27, 28) at La Foresta with Philip Mounstephen, CMS Executive Leader, as speaker.

December: Our Services of Lessons and Carols in Brno yesterday and Prague (13). For regular members of the congregations to invite their non-worshipping friends. January: Our Children's Ministry on Sunday mornings with its ever wider age range. February: That Lent, which begins this week, would be a time of spiritual growth for congregational members. November: God's wisdom and guidance in the recruitment of a new Chaplain, prayers for all involved. Chaplaincy Council meeting (28) and discussions of a second stipendiary minister. We pray for the Holy Spirit to strengthen the Lord's work in Bordeaux and beyond. December: We continue to pray for the recruitment of a new Chaplain, and for God's will to be done. Prayers for the many Christmas carol services, as we reach out to share the Christmas story. January: We give thanks for our ecumenical friendships with our Christian brothers and sisters, especially during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (18-25). February: Prayers for new worship leaders, as they have completed the recent training course and take up responsibilities in leading services in their congregations. November: Alpha course on Thursday evenings; Curry Night social (6); teaching morning on John’s Gospel (14); our Christmas Sale (28). December: Preparations and publicity for Christmas services. Carol singing round the pubs of Cannes (18); Carol Service (20); the usual services for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. January: We begin a new sermon series on Mark’s Gospel until Easter. Planning for our Lent course. February: We are running a Christianity Explored course on Tuesday evenings; our Home Groups combine for our Lent course on Wednesdays.

December: May our Christmas carol services, Family Carol Service (13) and Evening Carol Service (20) connect the great story of God's love incarnate with the many visitors who come with great anticipation and excitement. January: Our home groups: pray that many more in our church family will wish to grow and be sustained through small groups of fellowship and Bible study. February: Pray for St. Peter's vision and strategy process as we seek God's priorities for the next year and the next five years. Michael (and Lesley) Sanders is the locum at St. Luke’s until 23 November. During this interregnum pray for those taking extra responsibility: may they grow in Christ as they serve. November: For real unity among us, overcoming past hurts and misunderstanding, through a deepened love for the Lord and each other. December: For our sermon series: Christmas at the Oscars! The Jesus Story… Best Supporting Actress, etc.; and for our Carol Service (20) at 6.30 pm. January: For the future of a family, whose three children are each being fostered by a church family, while their parents are serving prison sentences. February: Give thanks for students who come to us from many countries, praying they grow in their faith, and be better equipped to serve the Lord afterwards. November: Please pray for the leaders of and participants in the discipleship courses that are being run this autumn at Christ Church. December: ‘The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it’ (John 1:5). Please pray for moments of calm during Advent so we may tune in to the meaning of the light of Christ and the significance of Christmas. January: Please pray that the road to Christ Church's open doors be made plain to all those seeking to know Christ in the Lille area.

February: Please pray that our ageing heating system continues to be able to keep people warm during worship and activities over the cold winter months. December: For the PCC and Council in their decision making: may they feel Christ’s blessing. January: For outreach opportunities in the community. November: Alpha Campus (Alpha course) is our Away Day (7), pray for our leaders and the guests. Remembrance events through November are great connection points with the wider English-speaking community. December: Christmas activities especially for developing relations with the English sections at the international schools, breaking down barriers and building bridges for the gospel. Auction of promises as a fundraiser for our charity wing. January: Youth/sports church - we have been working at ways of engaging the young guys connected with church, and are working at doing a sports/action church as a means of a) creatively engaging our energetic, active youth and b) proposing something they can invite their pals to. February: Co-working with our local churches, great ecumenical relationships and action developing, more Lord! November: Pray for our annual bonfire night which is a great outreach opportunity in our community. December: That the true meaning of Christmas is heard clearly above the material, festive and commercial noise in our community this Christmas-time. January: For our church leaders to have God's wisdom for direction and guidance at the start of this new year. February: For renewed energy and protection for our chaplain Olaf and his wife Marie-Claire as they lead us.

November: Two rounds of advertising and interviewing last summer did not result in a new Assistant Chaplain– we hope for fruit-bearing interviews this month. December: Today we hold our annual Carol Service and mulled wine/mince pies party, with 500 expected to attend. January: A new course for enquirers starts this month– either START or Alpha. Pray for the leaders and guests. February: Thanksgiving for the service of our churchwardens and members of Council, and the preparation for the new Council year. November: Please pray for the implementation of a plan for more practical and effective pastoral care within the chaplaincy and for our Christmas Fair (21). December: We have a series of carol services planned throughout the area, a major opportunity for outreach. Pray for good times of fellowship and contact and for people to be encouraged to come to other services as a result. We bid farewell to our Chaplain Hazel Door at the end of the month. Pray for Hazel and Martin as they begin their retirement together. January: Please pray especially for the retired clergy, Readers, Wardens and Council as they seek to carry this large chaplaincy through an interregnum and begin the process of seeking a new Chaplain. February: Pray for a good response to the adverts for a new Chaplain, that God will guide both those applying for the post and those involved in the selection process. November: The PCC meets (19) and John and Jane Dinnen are with us as locum until early December. Pray for Fusion Youth celebration at St. Mark’s with Mike Pilavachi, leader of Soul Survivor on 12 December. December: The Carol Service at St. Paul’s (13) and St. Mark’s (20): a good opportunity for outreach. January: For the church as it prepares to welcome their new chaplain and family. February: That the new chaplain and family continue to settle in well as they get to know the church. November: Give thanks and praise for the appointment of our new Minister: Christopher Parsons. His first service will be in Freiburg on 29 November.

January: For the growing staff team to work well together. February: For the Lord to provide all the resources needed for the growing children's and youth ministry. November: Please pray for the church family as we discern and plan our vision and strategy for mission and ministry on Corfu. December: Pray that we may find those we live among whom we are called to serve; for open and generous hearts. January: Please pray that all the gifts of our community would be released and used to serve. February: Pray that our community life would overflow to those we live among. November: The interviews for the position of Senior Chaplain and Chaplain to the South Congregation took place (13). Pray that interviewers will identify God's choice for the post. December: Pray for Rik Florentinus, temporary chaplain during the interregnum, and the Leadership Team: for wisdom, guidance, energy and peace. January: Pray for new people to join us. November: For the best way to support the refugees who come to Amsterdam and for the second Messy Church which took place on Sunday 1 November. December: For those who have recently joined us at Christ Church. For the Senior Chaplain appointment process. January: For the new Senior Chaplain as they slowly find their way in Christ’s Church in Amsterdam. February: For the discipleship courses that we run at this time of year. November: We thank God that more children are coming into church. Pray that we have the right Kid's School Coordinator, to take care of them. December: Please pray that our Carol Service (20) will attract people from all walks of life in the south east area of Amsterdam, and that it will be fruitful for the growth of our church. January: Pray that we find someone in our congregation to host our new Bible study group, and for a hunger in the congregation for the word of God. February: Please pray that the new Senior Chaplain, will not only be Spirit-filled, but also Spirit-led. November: While we await a new Senior Chaplain, pray that the four congregations will pursue our shared mission to make disciples of Christ from all nations in North Holland. For participants finishing the Parenting course in Heiloo and Alpha course in Alkmaar. December: Pray for the Christmas services and outreach across the chaplaincy congregations. For our carol singing in the Heiloo shopping centre and on the streets of Alkmaar, to enable us to connect with people who God is calling. Carol Service (20). January: Ask God to raise up new leaders and workers for the Heiloo congregation and to enable us to begin a fledgling congregation in Alkmaar this year. February: Ask God to strengthen our pastoral care for one another in the congregation, and for the wider international community. November: Give thanks for our two locum chaplains who came to serve us in turn from September through to the beginning of November: a time of new ideas and helpful advice.

December: Pray for a successful cake and card stall at the six-day Christmas Market at a local castle–our main fundraising activity each year and an occasion which gives us much good publicity. January: For members who cannot get to church services during the winter and for others who are sick. February: Please continue to pray for the sick and the elderly amongst us, and for those who are housebound. November: The Christmas Bazaar has taken place (7), please pray that it was a joyful occasion, a good fundraiser for St. Mary’s but most importantly an opportunity for outreach into the wider community. December: For the Carol Service (20) that many will attend and for the sailors stuck in port over the season away from family and friends. January: For Stephen’s ministry on the ships as Mission to Seafarer’s Chaplain in the Port of Rotterdam. February: For Jenni Pridmore and her work with St. Mary’s youth. November: Remembrance Sunday, Advent and the completion of our series on the Holy Spirit will keep us busy in November. We will continue to look at our service pattern, for which we would value prayer. December: A busy Christmas period will give us the chance to reach out into our local community–we also have our Christmas Market which is hard work but great fun, pray that we would not become too busy! January: For a time of reflection and rest at the beginning of the month before we become busy again in the middle of the month. February: We hope to be doing another Alpha course in 2016 – we pray for preparations, for leaders and for participants. November: Remember the Revd Grant Crowe, his wife Jolanda and children, Callum and Thirza as they move to Amersfoort to begin a new life and to plant a church. December: For the congregations in the chaplaincy as new services begin around Christmas in Amersfoort and the congregation of Utrecht is replanted.

January: Pray for new joint educational initiatives in the chaplaincy and the settling in of the Crowe family in Amersfoort. February: Pray for a planned Student Alpha course, and for a Lenten chaplaincy retreat and study groups. David Phillips

November: Give thanks for the heart-warming response of the city and province of Groningen to the recent influx of asylum seekers, all of whom, on entering the Netherlands, must come here to register. Our churches and local charities work together to provide welcome kits and support for them. December: Pray for our Christmas services, and give thanks for our joint Carol Service yesterday evening with our Old Catholic friends. May all who join us feel welcome, and be drawn into the story and life of Jesus. January: Pray for our first Sunday Grace Prayer Brunches at the Student Pastorate building, as we share faith, food, and fellowship. February: For our mid-week prayer group and for the house group Bible studies, which are oases of support and spiritual sustenance in the busy lives of our members. November: As Advent approaches please pray for our 'outreach moments' (Christingle, traditional Carol Service, etc.), that we can build bridges with the local international community here. December: If things follow schedule, our new Youth Pastor will be preparing to move over and start ministry in January. Please pray for God's guidance and richest blessings. January: Thank the Lord for our new church members and pray for them as they put down spiritual roots. February: Praise God for the faithful work of our wardens, Gill and Steve, and the whole Council. Pray for wisdom as we look forward. November: Pray for John and Deborah, for John’s health as he approached the Christmas season in light of his health issues earlier in the year.

January: St. George’s is blessed with many young people: pray for Kelly Malefyt Kulp, our Youth Outreach Worker, for wisdom and enthusiasm. February: For John and Deborah as they work on their language skills to aid their interaction with the local community. November: Peter and Sue Pimentel have been with us a full year and we thank God for sending them here, how blessed we have been! The Chaplains’ Cluster days took place (8, 9, 10) in Mallorca with Bishop David attending. During Cluster days the chaplains from Barcelona, Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca, Costa Brava and Madrid meet together. The Chaplaincy Away Day (20) at Es Cubells. December: We pray for all the Advent and Christmas services and events that many will come and all will be touched. January: The Alpha Supper is the start of various courses. We pray we can attract many to sign up. February: It is never too late to join in a course! We pray many will come to know our Lord better. November: For our Christmas Bazaar (28), that it might be an enjoyable day and an opportunity for real outreach to our local community. For next month’s Advent retreat (4 December); for a good number of participants attending, may it be an opportunity to slow down and reflect on the meaning of the Christmas Season. December: For our Christmas services; that many will attend and be touched. January: For our Games and Supper afternoon (27), for many families to attend and for it to be a time to get to know one another better. For next month’s Advent retreat (5 February) that it may be a real opportunity for participants to reflect on their Christian faith. February: For our new Youth Worker, for God’s guidance and for passion and enthusiasm to work with our youth and their families. November: As the interregnum continues, Roy Farrar has graciously agreed to provide locum cover (until summer, if needed), assisted by Ken Kvistad, under the leadership of the Chaplain Adèle Kelham.

December: Our Christmas Eve Christingle and Carol Service (13) are times of outreach to the community. May the gospel be clearly preached and heard. January: The advert for permanent 'house for duty' Chaplain should be in the press and we pray that the Lord will provide for us this time around. February: After much waiting we look forward to real growth and an abundance of fruit in this coming year. May many who find a solid development in their personal faith come to find Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

DAY 25 Christmas Day And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1 John 5:11 All Saints, Vevey November: We are gearing up for Christmas with a series of events: women at All Saints will host a Ginger Bread House Evening, our men will complete a series of dinners entitled Have you ever felt challenged and of course there is the scratch nativity play. December: With international schools closing early in December, this is an opportunity for our teachers to take a well-earned break. Pray for them and their families and for wholesome rest. Clive Atkinson and Yvonne January: We are working hard on our welcome, hospitality and integration and this month we hope to welcome new people to All Saints. February: All Saints has the privilege of impacting the corporate world through a number of its members salting local and international firms. Pray that they would know the Father’s presence in their work place. St. Peter’s, November: November is a quiet month in Château Château d’Oex d’Oex. However, there will still be a number of faithful residents coming together for weekly worship and monthly Bible study. December: It is quite possible that St. Peter’s will see 250 people at its Christmas Eve Service. Combine this with its other services and those at Gstaad, you can understand why Christmas is an important time of outreach and service for the Church. November: Please pray as we continue outreach to those in our neighbourhood and for our Alpha course; that we will have opportunity to share the gospel and see the fruit of our labour. December: For our Christmas Carols by Candlelight service (13), attended by foreign Ambassadors working for peace in the middle East. January: Pray for members of our congregation who work with NGO’s and the UN for peace in Lebanon and the Middle East. February: Please pray for members of our congregation engaged with supporting Syrian refugees and humanitarian aid. November: Pray that the Church Council’s negotiations with the various entities of the British Community in relation to its property, flow easily and that solutions will be found. December: For the continued success of the Women Diocese Association Christmas Bazaar and for our Carol Service. Pray that people take more time to reflect on the real meaning behind the Christmas celebrations. January: Pray for worldwide peace in 2016; for the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ on all Christians being persecuted; for the safe travels of many members of our congregation during the long summer holidays. February: For the safe return to the UK of our interim Chaplain, David Greenwood. For the carnival festivities in Brazil. Simon and Clare flew out to Chile on 5 October and he was licensed on 25 October. His first service was on Remembrance Sunday, a big occasion in the Anglo Chilean community. The service was in Spanish, a test as he had not spoken Spanish for twenty years since leaving Peru where they served with SAMS. Do pray for them as they settle in and get to know the church and area.

November: For a smooth transition of ministry as David returns to the UK and Kathy Biles takes responsibility. For the success of the Advent Market: a happy social event for residents and fundraiser for the cathedral. December: For the farming community busy with the sheep shearing season and all those involved in the tourist industry. January: For Chris Locke, newly appointed Harbourmaster and Fisheries Officer, and for all working on the squid fishing boats, for their protection and security, and that they will be justly cared for. February: That the summer sunshine and warmth will bring good growth and plentiful food for animals; that our observance of Lent will bring refreshment and reflection to the Christian community. November: The final Executive meeting will be held where the 2016 Budget is tabled for approval. May unity of purpose and vision be with the councillors. December: Pray for Christmas Carols and other events organised and led by Field Staff. May they be witnesses of the true message of Jesus, bringing in a mighty harvest of souls, to the glory of God. January: Rest and safety in travel for all the Field Staff as many of them will be taking annual leave. February: School resumes and most regular ministry events at church will commence after the summer break. Please pray for excitement and renewed energy for serving Jesus in 2016. December: Pray God’s blessing on the ICS team and their families this Christmas. January: As we enter this new year, pray that we are blessed with energy, creativity and focus.
