Copies of t h e agreement had been left w i t h t h e Manager last Thursday f o r study. They s t a t e d they would l i k e the Council t o look over t h e agreement. They a r e anxious t o start conetruction of the p i p e l i n e by t h e middle of January, 1956. Mr. Fox s t a t e d t h e same agreement war being given t o t h e four Municipalities affected. Council f e l t t h a t t h e y needed more time t o study the agreement before making any decision on t h e matter. ( a ) The Chairman of t h e Committee reported that they had interviewed f i v e a p p l i c a n t s for t h e p o s i t i o n of Purchasing Agent. They f e l t that a t present it was not 8 f u l l time job i n t h e Municipality. One employee R. Davis, Accountant, had applied and f i g u r e s t h a t he could handle t h e purdhasing along. with h i s present work with perhaps only t h e addition of a Clerk-Typist. The Committee recommended t h a t he be appointed t o t h e p o s i t i o n on a three months probationary b a s i s under t h e d i r e c t i o n of t h e Manager along with h i s present position. 8. A r e p o r t from t h e Committee was read s t a t i n g that t h e r e was a break i n the dyke on the Bose Road west of t h e Serpentine %ver which t h e Dyking Commission had refused t o repair. While ditching t h e r e the Works Department had l e f t same earth for t h e repair of the dyke. They had a l s o placed sane d i r t on t o p of t h e dyke because it was a s h o r t haul and would be useful on t h e dyke. The Committee requested the Council t o take t h e matter up bf t h e break i n t h e dyke with t h e Dyking Commission. Moved by Caunc i l l o r Uor t lmer ISeconded by Councillor Nesbitt That t h e Clerk advise t h e Dyking Commission of t h e d i r t placed on the dyke and t h a t we can assume no r e s p o n s i b i l i t y for t h e break i n t h e dyke. Carri ed. 4. The Committee recommended that a s e r v i c e c o n t r a c t on t h e I.B.M. typewriters be approved a t a c o s t of $50.00 p e r year. 5. The Committee reported t h a t Marshall-llklls had raised the p r i c e on t h e 10,000 f t . of copper pipe r e c e n t l y ordered and t h e purchase had been cancelled. The Committee s t a t e d t h e next lowest tender PISS from Crane Ltd. a t 42.63# per f t . F.O.B. Vancouver, but they could not guarantee delivery o r price. The next lowest tender was from Gordon and Belyea a t 42.750' p e r f t . F.O.B. South Westminster, and they could g i v e immediate delivery. As a r e s u l t t h e pipe had been ordered from then.

Smith, F i r e Chief, was involved. H i s insurance company has refused t o pay any claim. One fireman had h i s leg broken in the accident. The Manager f e l t t h a t we should take part i n t h i s m t t e r t o g e t settlement as he i s a Municipal employee t o some extent.
