USQ Mahara ePortfolio

How to insert images into your pages When sharing any aspect of your ePortfolio, please limit sharing your pages to Specific Friends, Specific Groups, Specific People, or to a Secret URL. Do not allow Public Access to any page, or allow access to Logged-In Users unless you intend for those pages to be widely available and able to be reproduced. Academic staff sometimes choose this option for demonstration purposes, but students should consider their privacy before sharing widely with the Public or Logged in Users.

There are two ways you can insert your images into your pages, as an image block or as an image inserted into a text block.

1. Start by uploading your images into your Files area

2. Insert an image block

3. Insert the image into a text block

1. Start by uploading your images into your Files area In your USQ Mahara ePortfolio, you can upload, store and organise files in your File area. Usually, when you upload a profile picture, Mahara will automatically create an images folder, which contains your profile images. You can place all of your other images in here as well. You can also create sub-folders in the images folder if you wish to organise your files. It is preferred that files names are lower case and without spaces, and use underscores and numbers. 1. From logging into your Dashboard, go to the Content tab:

2. While on the Content tab, go to the Files tab:

8. Fill out the Image Description field:

If you want your image to be between paragraphs, leave the Alignment set to -- Not Set -in the dropdown menu. Otherwise, if you want text to wrap around your image, set the Alignment to Left or Right. 9. In the Dimensions field, resize your image to suit your needs. In this example 1024×768 pixels is way too large – the image is going to be resized to 300×225 pixels.

10. Border, Vertical Space and Horizontal Space:

If you type in a numeric value into the Border field, you will get a border around your image. If you don’t want a border, leave it blank.

A numeric value in the Vertical Space field means that many pixels space above and below your image. If you are happy with the default amount of space, leave it blank.

A numeric value in the Horizontal Space field means that many pixels space left and right of your image. If you are happy with the default amount of space, leave it blank.
