Did You Know? You can visit the nation's first domed stadium, the Astrodome, in Houston. You go, girl! The Houston Comets will live in WNBA history as the only U.S. team to ever win four back-to-back championships. "Houston" was the first word heard from the moon on July 20, 1969. Houston residents eat out more than residents in other U.S. cities. And why shouldn't they with over 11,000 restaurants?

The Texas Medical Center, with 50 member institutions—including M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the No. 1 cancer hospital in the country—is the largest medical complex in the world. The Greater Houston area has 14 major institutions of higher learning. Houston (Rice University) is the birthplace of nanotechnology. Houston is one of only a few U.S. cities with resident professional companies in the four disciplines of the performing arts: ballet, opera, symphony and theater.
