Food Service Sanitation Management (SERVSAFE) Continuing Education Course Description: This course is offered to food service personnel who wish to become eligible for national certification in food service sanitation. Basic food service sanitation and safety standards are stressed for prevention of food-borne illness and injury. Participants also become familiar with developing good sanitation standards and government regulations for food service establishments. The accrediting agency for SERVSAFE is the National Restaurant Association. The course is taught in partnership with the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation. Note: The certification exam, text and course materials are included in course fees. In-Person or Online: In-Person Length of Time: 16 hours Cost: $210 Textbook: Materials included in course costs Requirements: None Successful Completion: ServSafe Manager Certificate (National Restaurant Association) and Baltimore City Community College Certificate of Completion (1.6 CEUs). Food Service Sanitation Management Recertification (SERVSAFE) Continuing Education Course Description: Every three years, food service personnel need to renew their national certification in food service sanitation. Basic food service sanitation and safety standards are stressed for prevention of food-borne illness and injury. Other topics covered include developing good sanitation standards and government regulations for food service establishments. The accrediting agency for SERVSAFE is the National Restaurant Association. The course is taught in partnership with the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation. Hotel Guest Service Professional I Continuing Education Course Description: The first course in the two-part Hotel Guest Service Professional training includes a hospitality orientation, with a focus on guest services. Course topics include professionalism, hotel security and an introduction to front desk and reservationist positions. Students will earn a Guest Services Professional certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute. Note: The certification exam and course materials are included in course fees. Hotel Guest Service Professional II Continuing Education Course Description: The second course in the two-part Hotel Guest Service Professional training includes an in-depth look into back-of-the-house and common area occupations, as well as the Food and Beverage Division within a hotel. Course topics include guestroom organization, banquet setup and hotel maintenance. Successful completion of this course, along with Hotel Guest Service Professional I, will earn students a Certified Front Desk Representative credential from the American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute.
