Hoover’s Quick Reference Guide Hoover’s provides smart, simple, time-saving tools that help you make the most of your prospect and customer lists. Our team of dedicated industry specialists provides you with current business trends and in-depth company and industry reports, enabling you to become an expert and have more meaningful conversations with prospects and customers. Hoover’s lets you do more, do it better, and do it easier.

Navigation: The Company Index menu at the top of all Company and Industry pages organizes all available content. Hover over the triangles next to the About This Company, Financials, and Competition menu items to see more options. Unavailable content is grayed out The My Tools menu on Company pages helps make available data actionable. Options include: Print Quick Report, Download Data, Receive Alerts, View Company Tags, View Company Notes, View My Contacts, Find Similar Companies, Print Preview and Email This Page

The LinkedIn icon provides direct access to LinkedIn search results for an individual.

Use the Actions menu to create unlimited vCards (electronic business cards) in Outlook for your people contacts or save people to My Contacts in Hoover’s

ConnectMail Contacts:

Tags, Notes and Saved Contacts are easily accessed from the three-tab menu located on all Company pages

Company and People Highlights: Companies: More than 85 million company records, including 63 million small, international companies and 22 million North American companies

n 

People: More than 100 million global contacts, including 40 million U.S. contacts and 60 million international contacts

n 

Get an email address and/or a direct-dial phone number for U.S. business contacts, including mid-level managers, directors, supervisors, etc.

Approximately 20 million email addresses and 2 million direct dial phone numbers

n 

Find contacts to view and download within the Key People section of a Company Record or click People and Contacts within the Company Index menu for a complete list of contacts

Build lists using “ConnectMail” as a filter criteria so that results only contain records with an email and/or direct dial number

The number of contacts available for download is dependent on your company’s subscription level, and is allocated at the account level

Search: Search for specific Companies, People, and Industries or across All Categories to gain insight on customers, prospects, competitors or market segments. Perform an “All Categories” search and see list results within subsections of Companies, People and Industries

Auto-suggested responses help you quickly find what you’re looking for

Refine Company search results by Location, Sales, Employees, Ownership Type, Location Type and Industry. Refine People search results by Job Title, Location and Industry

Customize the number of results per page

Use the arrows next to the column headers to sort your search results as desired

To refine your search the company name can be entered followed by comma and city. This will narrow your candidate list

Company searches can provide results by entering the general telephone number

Build A List: Generate targeted marketing and prospecting lists by choosing from 50+ selection criteria, including location, financials, industry, people and more. A Build A List quick search tool is available on the home page, featuring the most popular list filters. To access the full menu of available filters, click on the Build A List tab at the top of any page

Target a specific decision-maker role by choosing from more than 800 granular job functions. Simply browse job functions or do a keyword search

n 

Find records matching ANY or EVERY Location or Company Size criteria entered

Exclude certain industries and locations from your search

Each user can save up to 20 Build A List searches, stored in My Hoover’s in the “My Saved Searches and Downloads” section. Tip: Pick a naming convention that describes the list criteria you used

Once you’ve built your list, you can select specific records to download or choose the full list. Note: The ability to download lists is dependent on subscription level

You can choose to include only companies with a URL in your download. You can also exclude all previously downloaded (within the past year) company records

Review this content for real-time insight as a way to stay informed and make better, quicker business decisions. Available on Company and Industry Pages: Latest News provides links to the 10 most significant and recent news stories about a company or industry from across the global Web. Click “Load More” to dig deeper into the news archive

An Event Timeline provides a chronology of up to 20 of the most significant developments and events affecting a company or industry over the last year

A company’s Family Tree can help you understand the scope of a corporation, develop rules of engagement for your sales teams and identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities. Full Family Trees can be viewed within the application to understand the full breadth and depth of any global family

In addition, Family Trees can be downloaded as an Excel file list or .pdf graphic. The Excel file includes key firmographic data (up to 50 data elements) for each company record

Competitive Intelligence: On an Industry Overview page: learn about the industry in general, including current news; view all companies in this industry sorted by annual sales showing top-ranked; and identify related industry SIC and NAICS codes

Within the Company Index menu: view a complete Competitors List or analyze the Competitive Landscape, comparing the key financials of the targeted company to up to three competitors and industry and market medians. The default competitive landscape comparison includes top competitors but you can select different companies by clicking the “Select Competitors” button

Target companies in accordance with required credit terms; if credit terms are strict, consider targeting only Low Risk companies. High, Medium or Low Risk indicators predict the likelihood a company will pay its bills on time or will be delinquent (90+ days past due) over the next 12 months. Scores are calculated using statistical models and most recent payment information in D&B’s commercial database
