Lesley Lee, an administrative assistant in the Chastek Library at Gonzaga Law School for over fourteen years, passed away on September 11, 2009, after a brief illness. The faculty and staff of Gonzaga Law School and the Chastek Library held a special ceremony on September 29, to honor Lesley’s life, with the planting of a swamp white oak tree outside Lesley’s window of the library, and the installation of a memorial plaque commemorating Lesley’s life.

Antoinette Derr was born in 1918, and graduated from Gonzaga Law in 1944, becoming one of the first women attorneys in Washington. After raising her six children, she joined her husband, Paul R. Derr in the practice of law. She later joined the firm of Tanksley, Richard, Padden & Derr and in time was joined by her daughter Sara to become the first mother daughter partnership in the state of Washington. Antoinette had a successful practice of contract, real estate, estate, and probate law. She practiced actively for more than fifty years, stopping at the age of 82 when her health interfered with her ability to work. Bill Grismer

Bill was born on April 16, 1929, in Wallace, Idaho. Bill attended Gonzaga University, receiving his degree in accounting and his LLB in law in 1953. Hecla Mining Company offered Bill the opportunity to move back to his hometown of Wallace where he was the secretary and eventually became the Vice-President of Finance for the company.

The Chapel of St. Ignatius of Loyola is located on the third floor of the School of Law building. The beautiful and peaceful sanctuary is made possible through the generosity of benefactors Paul (‘59, J.D.) and Lita (’77, J.D.) Luvera.
