Information meeting (Learning Culture and Fast Feedback) Thurs 29th Sept- 9am and 6pm

DETERMINATION RESPECT

It's that time again for us to gather in the food for Harvest! We will be having our Harvest Festival Assembly on Wednesday 5th of October, so we have just less than two weeks to collect the food. We will be collecting for the Foodbank again, supporting them as they provide emergency food for some of the poorest families in Enfield. Any food which has a long best before date would be gratefully appreciated, but some of the items that they particularly need are: tinned fruit, tea bags, dried pasta, uht milk and breakfast cereals. We are having a competition to see which year group can bring in the most food, so let’s see who can bring in the most! We are looking forward to a great time on the 5th when a representative from the Foodbank will be joining us, so please get your donations in as soon as you can.

CARE

School Council In our whole school assembly this week, our newly elected school council members were presented with their badges. They were elected by their classmates in a ballot after presenting their speeches about what would make them good representatives. The children have really enjoyed seeing democracy in action and each school council member has a very important role to play in representing their class. We are looking forward to hearing from them about the changes they want to make at Lavender!

Rose class with 99.2% - Very well done! Herbie’s Dog Diary I’ve had another busy week at school and I’m getting bigger and stronger. I still need to spend most afternoons sleeping though- it’s very hard work when you’re a puppy! I am becoming more adventurousbut I am a bit nervous when the hoover starts up in the office.

Scooters

We have had some near misses in the playground this week! Please make sure that children do not use their scooters once inside the school gates. We would be grateful if you could ensure that this applies to your younger children too. Many thanks for your cooperation.

If you are sure you have found a living louse, check the heads of all the people your home. Only treat those with living, moving lice in their hair. Treat them all at the same time, using a head louse lotion or the ‘wet combing method’ (details available from NHS Direct online). Children under the age of two should not be treated with head lice lotion. Lotions can be obtained on prescription and the Chemist, School Nurse, Health Visitor or GP can advise you which lotion to use. Follow the instruction and guidelines provided with the lotion when treating.

RESPECT

Please check your child’s hair regularly and follow the borough guidelines for detecting and treating these. Detection: What’s needed: warm water, towels, good lighting, conditioner, ordinary comb and a detection comb (available from the chemist). 1. Wet the hair and dry with a towel. The hair should be damp, not dripping. 2. Apply conditioner. 3. Make sure there is good light, daylight is best. 4. Comb the hair with a normal comb. 5. Using the detection comb start with it touching the skin of the scalp at the top of the head, draw the comb carefully toward the end of the hair. 6. Look carefully at the teeth of the comb in good light and wipe on clean tissue. 7. Repeat this, working around the head for all the hair. 8. It takes up to 15 minutes to do this, and may take longer on thick, long hair. 9. If there are head lice you will find one or more lice on the teeth of the comb. You are looking for little insects with moving legs, often no bigger than a pin head but maybe as big as a sesame seed. 10. Clean the comb under the tap.
