JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Accomplishes the plans, goals and objectives established for the position; carries out specific marketing strategies. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Marketing Representative reports directly to the Marketing Manager. There are no positions reporting directly to the Marketing Representative. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Required:

High School diploma or its equivalent and a working knowledge of property and casualty insurance. Completion of AINS 21 and Ethics 311 required within six months of employment or transfer. Advancement to Senior position requires API designation. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from an accredited college.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must have strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to accomplish goals and objectives; Possess effective people skills; Ability to keep accurate, detailed records; Excellent telephone skills; Excellent skills for planning and using time. Must have full use of eyes, ears and speech for communication with customers and management. Must be able to see and hear, have full power of speech as well as communicate on the phone with customers and associates. Must be able to see to read computer screens and applications as well as related documentation. Ability to apply concepts of basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

Language:

Must be able to communicate in English. Communication must be effective in both the verbal and written modes, interact with employees and business associates. Ability to read, analyze and interpret systems documentation. Effectively present information and respond to questions from agents.

Computer:

Ability to effectively work in a Windows environment; Utilize browsers; Utilize applications such as Word, Excel, Access and communicate via email.

Working Conditions: Requires frequent over-night travel to meetings, agency visits and training classes, requiring driving/riding company vehicles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties and Tasks: Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company products, guidelines and procedures. Conduct marketing research as required. (Ex. new areas, products, competition) • Marketing reports must be completed within the required timeframes. • Marketing reports must include all requested elements. Research and identify new agencies and manage their appointment, training and development. • Prospect database must be kept current. • Prospect inquiries must be responded to within 24 hours. • New agents must be identified and submitted for review, along with all research material, within the time agreed upon. • All newly appointed agencies must meet minimum standards as outlined. • Consistently document agency files. • Accountable for ongoing success of appointed agents. Identify agency needs related to training, production and profitability and ensure their fulfillment. • Agencies must be aware of all company products, discounts, promotions, automation systems and services.

Communication with other departments must take place regarding agency decisions, strategies and agreements.

Manage agency coop ventures, agency advertising arrangements and corporate donations. • Expenditures must be within budgeted levels. • YTD reports of each must be kept current, accurate and readily available. Research and resolve agent, branch and insured problems. • Work as needed with other departments/personnel to obtain/provide information needed to address agent related problems. • All problems must be addressed within 24 hours. Update agency status. • Process terminated agents and mail termination letters. • File agency/agent appointments and cancel appointments with Sircon. • Maintain agency status and appointment/termination reports. • Maintain agency force map. Ensure the consistency and continuity of member organizations. • Organize new branches as agreed upon. • Assist existing branches as needed. • Consistently document branch files. Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by manager, verbally or in writing, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
