Hella Jongerius Collection
“Mi filosofía para el diseño de mobiliario y los equipamientos del hogar es la siguiente: la forma sigue al sentimiento”. Hella Jongerius, nacida en Holanda, estudió en la Academia de Diseño Industrial de Eindhoven. Durante mucho tiempo fue miembro del famoso grupo de diseño holandés Droog Design. Desde el 2000, dirige su propio estudio “Jongeriuslab” en Rótterdam. Su trabajo se centra en encontrar el balance entre los productos industriales fabricados en serie y la artesanía de lo hecho a mano. Para ello juega con las limitaciones de cada técnica y crea un nuevo producto con una nueva identidad. “My design philosophy for making furniture and trying to shape a new home is: Form follows feeling.“ Hella Jongerius was born in the Netherlands and studied at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. For many years she was a member of the well-known Dutch firm Droog Design. In 2000 she established her own design studio, Jongeriuslab, in Rotterdam. A central focus of her work is to find the balance between a mass-produced industrial product and a unique handcrafted object. This process redefines the borders of both approaches, resulting in new products with individual identities. Jongerius‘ work in the fields of furniture, textiles and ceramics combines innovative manufacturing methods with techniques and motifs from tradtitional handicrafts.

Polder Sofa
In the Netherlands Polder refers to the artificial land reclaimed from the sea by means of dykes and drainage canals. The body of the Polder Sofa is just as low-lying, just as flat, and has just as much emphasis on the horizontal. En Holanda, la palabra polder designa la tierra ganada artificialmente al mar mediante la colocación de diques y zanjas de drenaje. De la misma forma, el cuerpo del sofá Polder es tan bajo como plano, lo que permite destacar su línea horizontal. Il Polder è la definizione usata in Olanda per descrivere le terre piatte, strappate artificialmente al mare, grazie alla creazione di dighe e di sistemi per il deflusso delle acque. Altrettanto basso e schiacciato si presenta il corpo del divano Polder, dando così maggior risalto alla linea orizzontale.

On the versions upholstered throughout with dark brown leather, the concept of different colour combinations is transferred to the decorative buttons and topstitching – either in lively, expressive shades of bright red and orange, or in more restrained natural hues. By contrast, an elegant white version of the Polder Sofa is a composition of various leathers in finely coordinated shades of white, accentuated by white mother-of-pearl buttons and turquoise topstitching. By combining the classic luxury of leather upholstery with eye-catching details, the Polder Sofa combines lasting qualities with a fresh, contemporary attitude.

El Polder Sofa en acabado en piel no sólo varía en el material empleado, sino también en sus detalles característicos. En las versiones de piel marrón oscuro se retoma el concepto de la policromía en los botones y las costuras: en alegres y vivos tonos rojos y naranjas o en discretos colores naturales de carácter neutro. Por el contrario, en la elegante versión en blanco, el Polder Sofa cuenta con una composición de diversas calidades de piel en agradables tonos blancos, los que se ven acentuados por botones de nácar y costuras en color turquesa. Con un tapizado en cuero clásico, además de lujosos y llamativos detalles, el Polder Sofa combina los valores intemporales con un toque fresco y contemporáneo.
Il divano Polder Sofa in pelle si differenzia dalla versione in tessuto per diverse caratteristiche. Le versioni in pelle testa di moro ripropongono il concetto del tocco di colore caratterizzando i bottoni e le impunture in tonalità vivaci ed espressive, come il rosso vivo e l’arancione, oppure in tonalità più naturali e sobrie. In una versione più elegante, Polder Sofa propone invece la composizione di diverse qualità di pelle in varie tonalità di bianco, messe in risalto dai bottoni in madreperla e dalle impunture turchesi. Con un rivestimento in pelle classico e di lusso e con i suoi vistosi dettagli, Polder Sofa riconcilia valori senza tempo e note fresche e contemporanee.
The Worker Sofa was created by Hella Jongerius primarily as a communicative piece of furniture that would be well suited to kitchens, conservatories or reading rooms. Due to its compact dimensions, great comfort, and the light-hearted detailing that is typical of Jongerius’ work, the Worker Sofa also makes a good impression in living rooms and lounges. Like the Worker Chair, the sofa combines the qualities of traditional craftsmanship with modern construction methods and a subtle, sophisticated mix of materials.

“Form follows feeling” – this is the creed that Hella Jongerius adheres to in her design work. Indeed, “the Worker” is appealing due to its curious interplay of craftsmanship and technological elements. The handcrafted, rustic feel of the armchair is the product of the compact seat upholstery, which almost seems overly low, and the base frame, left visible, which is reminiscent of a half-timbered structure. By contrast, both the lathed wooden armrests and the lacquered aluminium arc stand for modernity and contemporary technology. The choice of upholstery fabrics plays a key part in defining the Worker’s appearance. The seat and backrest come with different cover fabrics, whose textures and colours are carefully fine-tuned to complement each other.
“La forma sigue al sentimiento“. Con esta máxima Hella Jongerius describe su visión creadora. The Worker atrae esencialmente por su particular combinación de elementos artesanales y tecnológicos. El efecto rústico y artesanal de este sillón se manifiesta, por una parte, a través del acolchado compacto y robusto, y por otra parte, mediante la base inferior a la vista que recuerda a una construcción en celosía. El toque moderno y la tecnología contemporánea están presentes en los reposabrazos de madera torneada y en los estribos de aluminio lacado. El gran atractivo de The Worker reside en la selección de las tapicerías para el acolchado. Su asiento y respaldo están revestidos con diferentes tapicerías, cuyas texturas y colores combinan perfectamente entre sí.

The Worker trae il proprio appeal dalla particolare combinazione di elementi marcatamente artigianali ed high-tech. Il look fortemente artigianale e rustico di questa seduta si manifesta da un lato nell’aspetto compatto e solido delle sue imbottiture e dall’altra nelle forme rassicuranti della struttura portante, che ricorda le classiche costruzioni con travature a traliccio. I braccioli in legno – modellati da una macchina a controllo numerico – e le staffe in alluminio laccato sono invece simbolo della modernità e della tecnologia contemporanea. Vasta è la scelta di tessuti disponibili per il rivestimento dello schienale e del sedile di The Worker, le cui combinazioni di colore sono state accuratamente selezionate.

El Worker Sofa fue concebido por Hella Jongerius principalmente como un mueble comunicativo, que pudiera utilizarse en la cocina, el jardín o la sala de lectura. Con unas dimensiones compactas, una gran comodidad y los detalles típicos de Hella Jongerius, el Worker Sofa también puede incorporarse sin problemas al salón o a una sala de espera. Al igual que la Worker Chair, este sofá también se inspira en la artesanía tradicional actualizada con métodos de fabricación modernos y una mezcla de materiales muy bien estudiada.

Pillows “Repeat“ * In collaboration with the Maharam Design Studio, Hella Jongerius created a series of woven fabrics called “Repeat“, which take historic patterns from company archives and translate them into the modern day and age. With just a hint of irony Jongerius makes changes to the historic templates in the form of new colours and combinations.
Bovist is a decorative floor pillow, stool and ottoman all in one. Bovist owes its appealing shape and great seating comfort to slightly tapered radial seams around the sides and compact filling of synthetic beads. Large embroidered patterns add attractive graphic accents to the textile cover, which is sewn together out of contrasting fabrics. Thanks to a colourful knitted handle, it is easy to take Bovist along as you move from one room to another.
Cojines “Repeat” Hella Jongerius ha creado una serie de tejidos denominados “Repeat” para Maharam, el tradicional fabricante textil de Nueva York. Estas creaciones retoman diseños históricos de los archivos de la empresa con un toque de actualidad. Jongerius, con una ironía sutil, modificó las plantillas históricas e incorporó nuevos colores y combinaciones.
Bovist es un decorativo cojín de suelo, que hace a su vez de taburete y reposapiés. Bovist debe su simpática forma y su gran confort a su funda cosida verticalmente a los costados y al relleno formado por pequeñas bolas plásticas. Los bordados de grandes dimensiones confieren a la tapicería cosida con telas de diversos colores un encanto gráfico especial. Bovist se puede reubicar con facilidad en la vivienda gracias a su asa de hilo tejido.
Cuscini »Repeat« Per Maharam, il rinomato produttore tessile di New York, Hella Jongerius ha ideato una serie di tessuti nota come »Repeat«, che riprende i motivi di disegni conservati negli archivi dell’azienda, reinterpretandoli in chiave moderna. Con ironia sottile, Hella Jongerius riesce a creare delle splendide variazioni tematiche negli abbinamenti e nei colori di questi tessuti di grande valore storico.
Bovist è un cuscino decorativo, da appoggiare a pavimento, che si accompagna ad uno sgabello e ad un’ottomana. Le simpatiche forme ed il comfort di seduta sono stati ottenuti grazie a speciali cuciture multiple sui lati del rivestimento ed alla speciale imbottitura in microsfere di materiale sintetico. I grandi motivi impunturati sul tessuto conferiscono al rivestimento, composto da vari materiali, un design unico e di grande impatto visivo. Grazie alla pratica maniglia in resistente filato Bovist può essere facilmente riposizionato a piacere all’interno degli ambienti.
