Heinz-Peter Kohler - H.P.K. - how he is called by his friends and Art connoisseurs can be considered as one of the most important artists in Switzerland. He built his reputation mainly as aquarellist developing and using this technique by nearby perfection. He „plays this instrument” on every scale on every format and a vast range of thematic expressions. But to reduce the work of H.P.K. only on a well elaborated technique would be a short view by far. The aquarell, also denominated as watercolor is actually a language and not just a technique. The expression is kind of fluid, transcendent. The brush works quickly across the paper. What is set on the white ground stays. Layers of color are composing the final artwork. Masters of this art expression like Louis Moilliet or William Turner have given this genre a worldwide reputation. Not „only” watercolor but a genuine art expression by its one. I would estimate H.P.K.’s artwork in an absolute comparison to such masters of the genre. H.P.K. - born in 1935 - kept his freshness of expression, his curiosity to explore his environment and is working in a constant flow of observation. After working intensely with H.P.K. 30 years ago, I met him recently in Biel, his hometown in Switzerland. Still fresh in his mind, working on new projects, curious to explore further fields. Heinz Allemann - and here maybe is one of the overlapping of this two artists - is a master on another artistic field. He was a printer of artwork for many years and worked as a ‘master of print’ of the famous swiss artist Franz Eggenschwiler. Allemann like to express his artistic intentions by all kind of mediums. Like an inventor he creates his universe and is driven by his curiosity to see growing the different stages of expression. „My art is like the roots of a tree. A tree does not look the same in spring as it does in winter. I think it is important for an artist to think about nature and see how nature creates”. With this artistic concept Heinz Allemann created over the years a wide range of artworks which includes all shapes of forms, materials and colors. It is a fascinating world which invites the person in front of the artwork to enter Allemann’s invented universe and ad his own imagination. „I live in a universal art chaos surrounded by color implements. There is nothing which I have not tried out yet with all the different colors and mixing techniques and my moods.”

HEINZ-PETER KOHLER

Heinz-Peter Kohler, Switzerland

60 years work at a glance Heinz-Peter has dedicated his life to art. The possibility to represent nature, human beings and their emotions on paper or canvas has always fascinated him. His art favours emotional content rather than a precise rendering of reality. He successfully manages to grasp fleeting emotions and to translate them into the objects or subjects of his art within the confines of a two-dimension-

al sheet of paper. Thus, emotions and moods come to the fore in his work. His deepest conviction has always lain with his unique way of painting and he never compromised to find favour with the public or to bow to some diktat of usefulness or acceptance. Marin Kasarski was born on December sulting from the union and opposition of 23rd 1939 in Lessidren (Lovech District). opposing forces. His early work on portraits led naturally to figurative sculpture. During the 1970s, he took part in exhibitions by the National Union of Bulgarian artists. He has made a name for himself through his mixture of traditional materials, like stone and wood, with other techniques employing metal and cement. For Marin Kasarski, sculpture is something akin to architecture. His works stand out from others in their simple, quasi-geometrical forms. However, his constructions are neither schematic nor cold: concave and convex forms are alternated, smooth and rugged surfaces succeed each other and dark zones are shot through with bursts of light. In this way, he offers us expressive rhythms, and each sculpture is alive with a real internal dynamic re-

Artist Statement My art is like the roots of a tree. A tree does not look the same in the spring as it does in the winter. In the spring the tree looks full of details and classical, in the winter rather abstract because of the snow. One does not know exactly what a rose will look like when it is planted. The form and the exact color. I think it is important for an artist to think about nature and see how nature creates. Sometimes I like to paint with oil and other times with watercolor. At times I like to go outside in nature and paint a landscape or draw. Other days I make original-handpulled prints or digital work. I live in a universal art chaos surrounded by color implements. There is nothing which I have not tried out yet with all the different colors and mixing techniques and my moods.
