Why can I believe for healing? • Jesus was made sick and sin for us: “Surely He has borne our grief [also translated “sickness] and carried our sorrows.. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” (Is 53:4-5) • “...they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet Isaiah saying: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness.’” (Mt 8:16-17) “Infirmities” comes from the Greek word “astheneia” meaning disease, sickness and weakness. The word “bore” implies substitution. • “... who Himself bore our sins on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness- by whose stripes you were healed.” (1Peter 2:24) • “For I am the Lord, your physician, your healer.” (Ex 15:26) • “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.” (Psalm 103:2–3) • “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (Ps 107:20) • “You shall serve your God and [He] will take sickness from the midst of you.” Ex 23:25 • “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Mt 16:19) • And these signs will follow those who believe… they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mk 16:17-18) • “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2Cor 1:20) • Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1:2)

Healing Quick Reference Guide How should I pray for healing? Pray the Word • Prayer should always be combined with scripture to produce faith to receive. • “My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they [are] life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. “ (Prov 4:20-22) Pray in the Name of Jesus • Phil 2:9, 10- “God also has given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven [angels], and things in earth [men], and things under the earth [demons].” • John 14:13- “Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” • 1 Jn 15:14-15- “This is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us: and we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him.” • Luke 10:17- the disciples said that the demons were subject to them in Jesus’ name • Acts 3:6 Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk, and the man walked.” • Acts 16:18 Paul said to a demon, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her, and the insane woman was perfectly restored.” Speak directly to the sickness • We do not need to beg God to heal. He has already taken the sickness upon His back and paid for our healing. Speak directly to the sickness in the name and authority of Jesus just like He did when He was on earth: • Jesus took the man aside from the crowd and put His fingers in the man’s ears, spat, and touched his tongue then said, “Be opened.” The man could hear and speak. (Mk 7:31-36) • Someone who asks for things they are already possess is in doubt. We need to know what we already have in Christ: “His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” (2 Pet 1:3)??? Pray in Faith • “According to your faith let it be to you.” (Mt 9:29) • “Daughter, your faith has made you well.” (Mk 5:34) • Believe you are healed the moment you pray, not when you feel the symptoms are gone (faith is from our Spirit not our five sense): “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mk 11:24)

Healing Quick Reference Guide If sickness tries to come back on you, resist it steadfast in the faith: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith...” (1 Pet 5:8-9) In most cases, Jesus did not heal until he discerned that person’s faith: Mt 8:510, Mt 9:27-30, Mt 15:22, 28, Mk 5:28, 34, Mk 10:52 Paul perceiving faith- Acts 14:9-10

Power of agreement • “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” (Mt 18:19) • “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” (Ja 5:13-16) Watch your words • “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Prov 18:21) • “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Mt 12:34) • “Let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering.” (Heb 10:23) • You cannot talk sickness and walk in health: “You are snared with the words of your mouth...” (Prov 6:2) • Fight back if symptoms try to return • “Stand fast in the faith and be strong- look up quote 1 Cor 16:13 • Faith is not based on what are five senses tell us to be true: “We look not at things which are seen, but at things which are not seen.” 2 Cor 4:18??? Is healing part of salvation? • Yes! Salvation= deliverance from sin and sin’s penalty (Webster’s Dictionary). Sickness is part of the penalty of sin (Deut 28:15-61) • “Saved”- “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom 10:9) To be “saved” is the Greek word “sozo” also translated “healed” (Mk 5:23, Lk 8:36, Acts 14:9) and “made whole” (Mk 5:34 6:56, Lk 17:19, Acts 4:9) • Substitution- “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.” (Gal 3:13) • “You were bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1Cor 6:20)

Healing Quick Reference Guide

Is healing always God’s will? • Jesus healed Every sick person who came to Him believing. “Great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.” (Mt 12:15, Lk 4:40, 6:19) “As many as touched Him were made perfectly whole.” (Mt 14:36) And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed [them] all.(Lk 6:19) • Jesus healed all who came in faith. “News about Him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to Him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon-possessed or epileptic or paralyzed— He healed them all.” (Matthew 4:24) • The only time Jesus did not heal was when restricted by the unbelief of others: “In His hometown of Nazareth, however, many people doubted Him and He could do few great works there.” (Mk 6:5-6) Does God ever use sickness to punish or discipline us? • No- sickness brings destruction and does not reflect abundant life: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly.” (John 10:10) • The Bible refers to sickness as captivity (Job 2:7;42:10), bondage (Lk 13:12,16), and oppression (Acts 10:38). God wants us to have deliverance (Lk 4:18) and freedom yokes of bondage (Is 58:6) • God is our heavenly Father and disciplines us with correction, not with death and destruction: “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Mt 7:911) If God’s will is our healing, why do many Christians stay sick? Here are some reasons based on the scripture: *** A lack of understanding: • People are sick and weak from a lack of knowledge about the body part of the Eucharist. Most Christians have a strong understanding of the blood of Christ (atonement for sins), but the church, as a whole, has not taught as much on his body (taking sickness for us Is 53:4-5; Mt 8:16-17). “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep [die].” (1 Cor 11:29-30)

“My people perish for lack of knowledge.” (Hos 4:6)

Doubt and double-mindedness: “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord...” (Ja 1:6-7) Unforgiveness: • “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” (Mk 11:25) If faith is necessary for healing, how can I increase my faith? • Faith comes by learning the Bible: “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom 10:17) • Faith to receive cannot go beyond our knowledge of God’s will. We will only believe with certainty if we are certain God wants it for us. • “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony…But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”(Heb 11:1-2, 6) Isn’t sickness part of the normal aging process? We do not need to die of sickness; we can believe for healing at any age. • We can appropriate the promises of healing and also long life: “the number of your days I will fulfill.” (Ex 23:26) • “With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” (Psalm 91:16) “He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes [approximately 2 million people- young and old!].” (Ps 105:37) • “Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.” (Psalm 91:5–7) Does God get more glory if I do not use medical intervention and only faith? No- all healing is from God whether it is at an altar or through divine knowledge given to doctors for interventions and medication. Only the Holy Spirit can direct each person in each situation on what steps to take for full healing to manifest. Does the devil have any authority over believers? • “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1Jn 3:8)

Healing Quick Reference Guide Jesus defeated Satan’s power over us: “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” (Col 2:15) “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Lk 10:19) “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom and heal the sick.” (Lk 9:1-2, see also Mt 10:7-8; Mk 3:14-15; Lk 10:9); “And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” (Mk 6:13) “He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.” (Mt 8:16) He has delegated His authority to us: -to preach the gospel (Acts 10:1-48) -to rebuke the devil (Ja 4:7) -to exercise power over unclean spirits and over sickness (Mk 16:18)

The devil has NO authority in believers’ lives except what they allow Satan wants to trick believers out of their covenant rights but God’s truth brings us out of bondage. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (Jn 8:32) The truth is that your sickness was already laid on the body of Jesus, so resist the enemy and the lying symptoms and fight the fight of faith to receive your healing. Know your rights as a believer and take a firm stand against the enemy and any ground he would try to take in your life in the name of Jesus!
