Hello and Welcome! My name is Brad Harris. I am a Journeyman Meterman and Relay Technician by trade. I began teaching apprentices some 20+ years ago, just after I had become a Journeyman Meterman myself. The best way to learn something is to teach it. Throughout my years of instructing, I have discovered even more beauty in metering than I ever thought possible; the math, the circuits, and the vectoring. Especially the vectoring! It is so incredibly delightful to experience classroom examples and discussions in real life metering situations. This book and the companions to it were created out of my deep and passionate desire to see electrical metering continue and flourish with the integrity and respect the craftspeople of this trade deserve. I am excited to be sharing with you, a reference manual full of color diagrams and explanations far more detailed and readable than was available to me when I became a metering apprentice. This comprehensive gathering of metering diagrams which represent how metering is done today also reflects and/or references how metering was done in recent history. When my metering journey was re-routed from the field to the classroom, I had made use of the notes I made in my apprentice books regarding my mistakes and learning experiences, and that has enabled me to better instruct others. The reference books I had as an apprentice were no longer in print or available to the more recent classes and I felt a sense of loss for the apprentices, in that they would not be able to enjoy the familiar and knowledgeable allies I had learned from so completely. Today, I feel blessed and am truly thankful for the technology and software programs that made creating these books possible. I have been able to design a higher caliber of metering diagram with greater detail and better quality. My vision for this book and the companion series is that they become your friends and respected allies, aiding you on your journey to be the best meter craftsperson you can be. Metering has proven to be a very successful career path for me and I am enjoying the journey. I have made many close friends along the way and am making new ones all the time.
