WHAT IT IS

THE PURPOSE

HOW IT WORKS

Kiteboarding 4 Cancer (KB4C) is the largest amateur kiteboarding event in North America. With hundreds of kites in the air and a variety of events for big and little kids alike, the festival atmosphere draws 3,600 spectators over two days. The event gives one the feeling of being right in-theaction, and it benefits a cause near and dear to all of us. KB4C participants take on the challenge of the 6-hour endurance race to embody what someone battling cancer faces every day. Funds raised benefit Athletes 4 Cancer’s Camp Koru Survivorship Program, which creates life-changing experiences for young adult cancer fighters and survivors through outdoor adventure. Over 200 amateur kiteboarders participate, raise funds in advance, then challenge themselves in a 6-hour Kite Derby Endurance Race on the mighty Columbia River. Kiteboarders face the great winds of the Gorge, big rolling swell, and a course that pushes top finishers to log over 110 miles on the water. Completing the race requires mental and physical determination, patience, endurance and tenacity.

Donor Sponsor: The Angel Level

The Angel Level is our Matching Donor. Across our 15 camps, 242 survivors have been empowered to rebuild their lives after cancer. So that no young survivor has to go it alone, we're aiming to add additional camps in 2015. We're looking for a challenger to match dollar for dollar, the funds raised by KB4C participants. For every donation made, your name will be instantly listed as the matching donor back to that donor. You are also recognized at the Angel Level in all marketing, social media, and on-site at the event through logo placement and announcements. The minimum commitment for this level is $25,000, enough to add an entire week long Camp Koru.

A Letter from the Founders...

Athletes 4 Cancer, the organization behind Kiteboarding 4 Cancer, began from a personal experience with cancer. My brother battled Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, and we were tired of seeing him suffer. In an effort to do something, a group of us decided to utilize our outdoor passions and love of the water to raise money for local cancer programs. Thus, Kiteboarding 4 Cancer was born. In its eighth year, KB4C is the largest amateur kiteboarding event in North America. Through Kiteboarding 4 Cancer, we have raised and donated over $625,000 to regional programs that directly benefit lives affected by cancer. We now run our own Survivorship Program -- Camp Koru -- creating life-changing experiences for young adult cancer fighters and survivors through outdoor adventure programs that challenge, support, and inspire individuals to rebuild their lives after cancer. Community partners, companies, and individual contributors are needed to ensure the success of this event. If you are new to Kiteboarding 4 Cancer and thrive on making an impact, we invite you to join us as a sponsor or partner in the cause. Together, we can make cancer history, one patient, one survivor, and one cancer at a time. We look forward to having you be a part of KB4C.
