TourBESTOFVENICEWALKINGTOUR&SKIPTHELINEVISITATST.MARK'S BASILICA (App. 2 hrs) Our Best of Venice tour is perfect for visitors with only a limited time in Venice. This tour takes in all the highlights of Venice by foot – with a few less expected gems thrown into the mix. With skip the line access we cut out waiting time so you can spend more time exploring and less time queuing and allowing your dedicated guide to whisk you easily from one Venice highlight to the next. It‟s at one of these highlights that we‟ll make our first stop. The Rialto Bridge is a favorite of many – a vast marble beauty that ran far beyond its budget, yet when the sunlight dances on it‟s smooth stone and its reflection shines in the water below, it‟s worth every penny. We will then stop by Marco Polo‟s house and hear about the Venetian son who went to sea one day and came back with stories of China and a world in the East that few had ever seen. We‟ll see lively Campo San Luca and Campo SS Giovanni Paolo where locals carry out their daily lives in the shadow of spectacular architecture. Then it‟s on to the main event – the stunning Basilica San Marco. Marvel at the diversity of Venetian culture as your guide points out the spots where eastern architecture and western design have blended to create a structure with an onion dome that could only have been created in Venice. In a rare extended tour of the basilica you‟ll hear about how St. Mark‟s remains arrived here illegally and see all sorts of treasures, molded in this very city or plundered during the crusades. We‟ll visit the second level of the basilica for views over the piazza below where string quartets play and waiters bustle around piazza-side cafés. The tour finish inside the Basilica so you can stay inside it for all the time you wish. ** Remember that there is a dress code for this tour: shoulders and knees must be covered . Then there‟s the numerous flattering works produced on demand by the masters of the time – „Virtues of the Republic‟ in the Council Room was Veronese‟s rosy outlook on the state of his nation while „The Triumph of Venice‟ in the Senate Hall was where Tintoretto paid his dues on a high ceiling. This unassuming slot was where friends and foes condemned each other in the form of accusations that were investigated and acted on with frightening brutality. SKIPTHELINEDOGE'SPALACETOUR&SECRETITINERARIES (Approx. 1 hour and half) The Doge‟s palace features the very best and the very worst of Venice‟s history – from vast paintings by Tintoretto and Veronese to the wooden slot where accusations of treason were slipped to the fearsome Secret Police. To wander the corridors of the Duke‟s palace is to understand the Republic of Venice, for better or for worse. Our tour of the palace visits all the best sights open to the public in addition to the Secret Itineraries, assuring you get the most complete tour of the Doge‟s Palace. Marvel over ceilings frescoed by Tintoretto to show Justice presenting herself to the Doge while you think of all the feet that have shuffled on the tiles you stand on – ambassadors waited nervously in this very spot for an audience with the Doge in the Hall of Four Doors. In the Chamber of the Council of Ten, as you marvel over Veronese‟s „Juno Bestowing her Gifts on Venice‟ your guide will point you in the direction of a dark corner, dwarfed by the vibrant masterpiece. This unassuming slot was where friends and foes condemned each other in the form of accusations – warranted or not – that were investigated and acted on with frightening brutality. For all of the splendor that its corridors hold, you would never guess what is hidden in the attic upstairs in the Palazzo Ducale. Follow your guide to the attic prison where Venice‟s famous lover and writer Casanova was kept for months before he miraculously managed a successful escape. Casanova was not the only man to see the Doge‟s palace on less than favorable terms. Our tour visits the spectacular Bridge of Sighs – so named for the prisoners that walked its length on their way to cells across the canal. As they took their last look at beautiful Venice they couldn‟t help but sigh. You‟ll hardly be able to stop yourself either or help but recall the work of the master of apocalypse Hieronymus Bosch seen in the Sala del Maggior Consiglio. The torture chamber is a similarly grim insight into what it was to live in the Republic of Venice and the stories your guide tells you there will not soon be forgotten. Across the Bridge of Sighs we‟ll see the New Prisons, although the 16th century monstrosities could hardly be accused of fitting the name these days. Those that can read Italian will understand the graffiti that lines cells here but for those that don‟t never mind, your guide will be happy to translate protestations of innocence carved into the walls by long-gone prisoners. A visit to the Doge‟s Palace is a rollercoaster experience, taking you from the artistic highs of Renaissance Venice to its grim bottom. When you step, blinking back into the sun, your head will be full of masterfully executed paintings and needlessly executed prisoners. One thing is for sure – you‟ll never again see Venice in the same light. ** For security reasons sacks, bags or knapsacks are not allowed inside Doge's Palace and Churches. Comfortable shoes are recommended. **

TourSECRETVENICEMORNINGWALKINGTOUR&GONDOLARIDE (App. 2,5 hours) Enjoy this original walking tour is the perfect way to delve deeper into the culture of Venice, visiting the quieter side of the Grand Canal and exploring the back canals of the city by gondola. If you came to Venice with visions in mind of winding streets and tumbling houses where laundry swings out over canals, then Secret Venice is the tour for you. Step away from the crowds and get off the beaten track with this original tour that explores Venice‟s less seen, more romantic face on the other side of the Grand Canal. Follow your expert, English-speaking guide through the quieter streets and piazzas of Venice. As you walk, your guide will captivate you with histories of Ca‟Dario, the cursed (and possibly haunted) house whose owners have continuously met untimely and often suspicious deaths. You‟ll learn why music schools around the world are called „conservatories‟ at Fondamenta degli Incurabili, the hospital where monks took orphans from the streets and trained them as nurses and world-famous musicians. And at Redentore Church, your guide will help you to imagine the huge festivals that once flowed from here to Piazza San Marco, gondolas filling every inch of the canals for huge firework shows. Along with local legends, you‟ll hear some tales of familiar characters. You‟ll see Harry‟s Bar across the canal where Ernest Hemmingway once kicked back after a long day of writing. You‟ll see the home of Peggy Guggenheim, the heiress who lost her father to the Titanic but gained the means to build one of the world‟s most interesting art collections. (Back in her day Peggy used to scandalize the locals by sunbathing naked on her roof and parading around town with a pack of tiny dogs on leashes.) Ever heard of Othello? You‟ll see the house where Desdemona supposedly lived before her tale was transcribed by an Italian author and stolen by a man called William Shakespeare. Our tour ends on the sweetest note with a gondola ride along the quieter back canals of Venice. Relax as a gondolier, in his ubiquitous striped shirt, punts along waterways built for these very vessels. With a maximum of six people per shared gondola, your tour will be intimate and, with no commentary on this section of the tour, quiet and romantic too. ** Please note that the Gondola Ride can not operate during heavy rain or adverse weather conditions. In this case either an alternate date or a partial refund will be confirmed to clients **

TourofGRANDCANALWATERTAXI&SKIPTHELINEVISITATST.MARK'S BASILICA (App. 3 hrs) ** Max 10 pax ** See all of Venice‟s top sights in just a few hours with this exclusive Semi-Private Tour of only 10 people maximum. With such a small group your guide will have more time to answer questions and tailor the pace of the tour to suit you. Our Tour is perfect for visitors with only a short time in Venice or for anyone wishing to use their time here to explore off-the-beaten track sights, such as the Bovolo Staircase. Our tour starts on the Grand Canal, the city‟s main waterway which snakes its way past no less than 50 palaces, six churches, four bridges and two open-air markets. We‟ll take to the water for a tour of all these wonderful sights. With only 10 people in the boat you won‟t have to crane your neck. We‟ll even float by a gondola-making workshop! Back on dry land next – well, kind of. The on-land section of our tour is a head-spinning journey past some of the best-known sights of Venice along with some of our unlikely favorites. We‟ll visit the Bovolo staircase whose spiral clings desperately to the walls of a building. We‟ll stop by Marco Polo‟s house and hear about the Venetian son who went to sea one day and came back with stories of China and a world in the East that few had ever seen. We‟ll see lively Campo San Luca and Campo SS Giovanni Paolo where locals carry out their daily lives in the shadow of spectacular architecture. We‟ll see the Goldoni Theatre (outside visit), Venice‟s lesser known but hardly lesser loved opera house. Of course, we won‟t miss the Rialto Bridge, a favorite among many visitors for its sleek marble lines and the beautiful way it reflects in the water. Be sure to lean over the edge to capture a photo of the reflection, this is a picture you‟ll see on many Venetian postcards and one you‟ll be dying to frame when you get home. Then we‟ll make for Venice‟s main square – Piazza San Marco. Here orchestras abound (in Venice even the street artists are classy) and cafés spill out onto the square. The Doge‟s Palace lines one side of the piazza so we‟ll pause here first. This is perhaps the building that is most representative of Venice‟s past – a place where masterpieces were commissioned and hung while Casanova sat in the attic prison upstairs plotting his escape. It‟s home to a torture chamber, a slot through which accusations of treason were passed to the Secret Police and more Tintoretto and Veronese paintings and frescos than you could imagine possible. Our last stop is sure to impress. Basilica San Marco dominates the piazza with its spectacular East-meets-West architecture. This is what many people come to Venice to see and for day-trippers it‟s often the start, middle and end of the agenda. This wonderful structure took 800 years to build with relics and monuments inside brought (or stolen) from all over Europe and Asia. Even St. Mark‟s remains came here through dubious means when Crusaders stole them from Egypt. The queues here can be long but no worries, we have skip the line access! Your guide will take you inside this cavernous space for an extended tour, pointing out mosaics and beautiful artworks. Then it‟s up to the second floor for a closer look at the sparkling golden mosaics and for the most spectacular view over bustling Piazza San Marco below. In only a few hours you have seen the very best of Venice from three entirely different perspectives – water, land and from the terraces of St. Mark‟s Basilica. And all without having to wait in line or jostling to see within a big tour group! ** Remember that there is a dress code for this tour: shoulders and knees must be covered . TourMURANOGLASSBLOWING&BURANOLACE-MAKINGTOUR (Approx. 5 hours) Escape the crowds and chaos of Venice and catch a glimpse of what the city used to be – an island of artisans world-famous for their craft, where traditional skills have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. Join us on a halfday trip to these timeless islands, so close yet worlds away from crowded Piazza San Marco. After meeting in a central Venice location we‟ll start our tour with a short and comfortable boat ride to Murano. There‟s a lot to see on the way and your guide will keep you entertained with a description of the sights as you pass them. It‟s no time at all until we‟re off the boat again, taking our first steps on beautiful Murano, a small island world-famous for its glass. Once upon a time Murano glassblowers were the only people in Europe who knew how to create a mirror and their skills were so valued that they were banned from leaving the city of Venice under threat of execution. Watch a craftsman in action as he goes about his daily business, describing his process in English while he works. No staged presentations for us, this is a real, workaday studio and our experience here will be as authentic as it comes. Afterwards you will have time to browse the huge collection of glass art here and wander the island on your own. Then it‟s back on the boat and off to our next stop, Burano. The tiny island of Burano is famous for two reasons – for its houses, huddled tightly together along streets and canals, each one is painted a different color with laundry strung up across narrow streets. But Burano‟s major claim to fame is its centuries old tradition of lacemaking. Stay and watch their painstaking work, listen to a full commentary on what, in the age of sewing machines, has become a dying art and then take the time to explore the fascinating museum at the back. When Michelangelo visited Burano he bought an altarpiece for the brand new Duomo in Milan. You can take a leaf from his book and pick out your own keepsakes or spend your free time winding your way along the kaleidoscopic streets, sampling delicious cookies in local bakeries. While other tour operators also visit Torcello, we have intentionally omitted the third island from our tour in favor of providing you with more time to explore the more memorable islands of Murano and Burano. Our selective tour of the islands spends less time on the boat and less time trekking inland, giving you more time to experience this wonderful corner of the world at a pace that suits you.

TourWINE&APPETIZEREVENINGSTROLLINTHEJEWISHGHETTO (App. 2,5 hours)

** Max 12 Pax ** The best time to experience true Venetian culture is in the evening, when the light is waning and the locals seek out their favorite bars for friends, food, and fun. It is at this hour when the hectic pace of day turns into a relaxed stroll and the canals are at their most picturesque. If you were looking for a chance to experience the local version of “happy hour”, this is your chance! Do as the locals do and join us for this Venetian tradition as we eat and drink our way through the historic Jewish quarter, discovering new wines and cicchetti appetizers. Our wine and food tour begins by exploring the Jewish Quarter in the Cannaregio district, a less frequented area that the Venetians refer to as being the most authentic. The Jewish Quarter was the first of its kind in the world and served as inspiration for Shakespeare‟s The Merchant of Venice. It is still an active center for the Jewish community, and the surrounding alleyways, bridges and canals have maintained their unique identity throughout the ages. With less tourist traffic, the shops and restaurants tend to offer a higher level of quality and service here, making it a favorite place for locals to wind-down after a day at work. No one is more qualified to show you how to live this experience like a local than a true insider: your local guide. You won‟t be rushed from bar to bar. As we amble along you‟ll see a traditional open air market, fascinating shops, and other unique characteristics of the area highlighted by your guide. Still, food and wine are the stars of the evening, and you„ll experience the best of both in three celebrated and hidden bàcari (wine bars). The bàcari themselves seem like something out of an Italian film: wine glasses and bottles line brick and stone walls, and a friendly face greets you from behind the bar while others scurry to prepare and display a wide variety of their best finger foods – cicchetti of various shapes, sizes, and flavors. Lively conversations can be heard among wood-beamed ceilings and chandeliers, giving you the impression that the locals have been coming here every week for a lifetime. You‟d be correct. Here you‟ll sample some of the city‟s most extraordinary offerings. Whether it‟s expertly seasoned and fried meatballs, creamy codfish mousse or a creative bruschetta, you‟ll always find the best of the day‟s market in these one-of-a-kind creations. As no Italian edible should be without an excellent glass of wine, each sampling will be paired with an ombra, a small glass of one of the regions many renowned varieties (and included together with the food in the tour price). Your guide will share fascinating insights such as how the word ombra, which means “shadow,” comes from a centuries-old tradition when merchants would sell their wine in the shadow of St. Mark‟s bell tower in order to keep themselves, and the wine, cool. Friends would gather in the square after a hard day‟s work to catch up, drink a glass of wine, and have a laugh. Your guide will take you into the heart of this spirit, which still continues today. Before the night is over, you‟ll have seen the breathtaking views, hidden treasures, and local favorites of the area. You will have also learned the history behind the Venetian culture and how to make the most of your experience. That‟s the best part; beyond delighting in the food and wine adventure itself, you‟ll leave with the courage and insight necessary to continue the adventure on your own!

TourSECRETVENICEByNIGHTWALKINGTOUR&GONDOLARIDE (App. 2,5 hours) If you came to Venice with visions in mind of winding streets and tumbling houses where laundry swings out over canals, then Hidden Venice is the tour for you. Step away from the crowds and get off the beaten track with this original tour that explores Venice‟s less seen, more romantic side on the other side of the Grand Canal. Our Hidden Venice tour starts at spectacular Rialto Bridge whose marble reflects in the canal below. On our walk through hidden Venice, we‟ll see lovers strolling and kids playing in many of the beautiful squares in the area – the Campo San Polo, the Campo San Margherita and the Campo San Barnaba. We‟ll pass the Basilica dei Frari (outside visit) and stop in front of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. As you stroll your guide will fill you in on the stories, myths and legends that make Venice so endlessly fascinating, showing you a local‟s perspective of this often „touristy‟ city. The city is beautiful in the evening light and full of life. We‟ll pass Peggy Guggenheim‟s museum and you‟ll hear about the famous patron who lost her father to the Titanic but gained the means to build one of the world‟s most notable art collections. Our tour ends on the sweetest note with a shared gondola ride as the sun is setting. Relax as a gondolier, in his ubiquitous striped shirt, punts along the canal. Keep your eyes peeled for the many palaces that line the waterways of Venice or just for women reeling in their washing lines. With only six people per gondola your ride will be peaceful and intimate – or for an additional fee opt instead for the private gondola ride, a romantic and unforgettable experience for you and your loved one. As the sun dips below the horizon our boats dock and the group disperses with heads full of narrow canals and masterpieces hidden in neighborhood churches. That‟s one more ticked off the bucket list. ** Please note that the Gondola Ride can not operate during heavy rain or adverse weather conditions. In this case either an alternate date or a partial refund will be confirmed to clients **
