Access Codes

To access the panel via the GX Remote control app the following information will be required. This will be entered into the logon page of the app (See section 4.1.3) •

UMS Password (this is an optional feature and installer should discuss with end user before implementing)

User PIN as programmed in the panel

User Index (Two or Three-digit User ID number as programmed in the panel)

IP Address to connect to the panel

These will be provided by the installer when enabling the panel to connect to the remote app.

2.1.5

Connecting to the panel (See section 4 for more details)

An Ethernet module will be required. There are 3 ways in which this can communicate with a smart device.

1.

Local network with Wi-Fi within the building In this case you will need the direct IP address of the Ethernet module in the panel

2.

Remotely using mobile networks where the Router has a Static IP

3.

In this case you will need the external IP address of the Router

4.

Remotely using mobile networks where a DDNS In this case you will need the URL of the site

4

is used to identify the router

3 Downloading the APP The GX Remote control app can be downloaded from either the Google play or iTunes stores.

Search for GX Remote control.

An alternative search parameter is Honeywell.

The app should then be downloaded as per any other app. (Set up guide for the app is contained in the GX Remote Control User guide)

3.1 Operations (Icon Mode and Keypad Mode) There are 2 functional modes in the app, Icon mode and Keypad mode

Please ensure adequate network coverage. : Over utilized (shared) connections can degrade connection speed and/ or operation. The app will timeout after 6 minutes of not being used

Trigger Header Outputs and Keypad outputs are not supported on any Galaxy Panel

Do not exit (Either through the home icon or back button) the keypad mode during the panel setting o Procedure as this aborts the setting process If a user has selected DDNS/Static IP while connecting to panel then if user moves to Wi-Fi zone it will cause an already established mobile connection to drop.

GX Remote Control Installation Manual

4.3 Step 3: Ethernet Module & Network Configuration In order for the module to communicate with the GX Remote Control app an IP address should be assigned by the installer to the unit.

The information programmed in this section is required to enable the app to

communicate with the panel via a Honeywell Ethernet module.

4.3.1 Galaxy Flex 3 Panel (i) For Wi-Fi connection on a local area network: Proceed to menu option 56.3.3.1

DHCP is disabled by default on Flex 3. Enable this and the module attempts to configure itself automatically on the network. The Ethernet module IP address will be visible in this menu. The self configure process takes up to 1 minute

Record the IP address

(ii) For Remote connection over the mobile phone network Establish the External IP of the site internet router. This can be established with the help of the Internet Service provider or by using readily available web pages to identify IP addresses. Alternatively, use the URL name if a DDNS is used.

1.

Record the external router IP addresses or URL name -

These are required later in the process

2.

Set up of the router for Port Forwarding when a remote connection is required

3.

The router must be set up for port forwarding. Port 10001 must be set up to be forwarded to the local IP address of the Ethernet module as established in point (2) above

4.

This information can be obtained by referring to the user guide of the router. Honeywell technical support are unable to advise on these specific requirements.

4.3.2 Galaxy Dimension and Flex v1 panels Note: A router which supports a static, manually assigned IP address must be used. Please check with the supplier of the router.

Honeywell Technical Support is unable to support router configuration enquiries. There should be referred to the router manufacturer or ISP Provider

8

GX Remote Control Installation Manual

(i) Enter Menu 56.4.01 Module Configuration (ii) Proceed to option Create 1 = IP Address (Note this is not an automatic process on these panels) Enter the IP address for the Ethernet module. This must be a unique, static IP address.. This IP address to be used should be obtained by contacting the ISP for the site or the network administrator.

An example of a valid IP address is 192.0.1.152.

(iii) For Remote connection over the mobile phone network Establish the External IP of the site internet router. This can be established with the help of the Internet Service provider or by using readily available web pages to identify IP addresses. Alternatively, use the URL name if a DDNS is used.

1.

Record the external router IP addresses or URL name - These are required later in the process

2.

Set up of the router for Port Forwarding when a remote connection is required

3.

The router must be set up for port forwarding. Port 10001 must be set up to be forwarded to the local IP address of the Ethernet module as established in point (i) above

4.

This information can be obtained by referring to the user guide of the router. Honeywell technical support are unable to advise on these specific requirements.

4.4 Step 4: Connection set up (To receive commands via the app) 4.4.1 Local connection using LAN/Wi-Fi: Steps to prepare the network for app use using a local Wi-Fi network. 1.

Connect the Ethernet module using an appropriate cat 5 cable to the wireless hub/router

2.

Recall the Ethernet IP address recorded in 3.3.1/3.3.2 above

3.

Connect the smart device to the wireless hub router – completed via the settings section in the smart device

4.

Start the app and Enter Wi-Fi into the network selection screen(4.1.1 below)

5.

Enter the IP address of the Ethernet module into IP/Domain name section of the login screen (See section 4.1.3) a.

9

The user will now be able to access the panel over the local area network on site using the GX Remote control app

6.

Note: Please ensure that the Firewall is enabled for Wi-Fi is secured (e.g. WPA).

7.

UMS password: Please maintain a strong UMS password and change the password frequently.

GX Remote Control Installation Manual

4.4.2 Remote connection using a Static external IP address: Steps to prepare the network for app use using a remote connection using a Static external IP address for the site.

1.

Connect the Ethernet module using an appropriate cat 5 cable to the wireless hub/router

2.

Recall the external router IP address recorded in 3.3.1/3.3.2 above At this point the external IP address of the router, recorded in section 3.31+3.3.2 above, should be recalled as this will be needed in step(3) .

3.

Start the app and select Static IP into the network selection screen(4.1.1 below)

4.

Enter the External IP address of the router into IP/Domain name section of the login screen (See section 4.1.3) a.

The user will now be able to access the panel over a mobile network using the GX Remote control app

4.4.3 Remote connection using a DDNS service and URL name: Where there is not a static IP address available a Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) services may be required. Honeywell do not endorse any particular provider however they are widely available.

Most routers provide a mechanism to support these DDNS services and setup information should be available from the ISP supplied router instruction manual. (Please contact the end users ISP where this is not available)

Steps to prepare the network for app use using a DDNS service.

1.

Connect the Ethernet module using an appropriate cat 5 cable to the wireless hub/router

2.

Recall the URL name recorded in 3.3.1/3.3.2 above a.

3.

Start the app and select DDNS in the network selection screen(4.1.1 below)

4.

Enter the Domain name(e.g. mydomainname.org) into IP/Domain name section of the login screen (See section 4.1.3 below) a.

10

Please refer to the install guide of the router or contact the DDNS provider for further details. This is defined by the DDNS provider and manufacturer and Honeywell technical support are unable to advise on these specific requirements.

The user will now be able to access the panel over a mobile network using the GX Remote control app
