RAINWATER SOLUTIONS Yeoman Rainguard has been providing quality Rainwater Systems for over 30 years. SERVICE & SOLUTIONS SERVICE & SOLUTIONS We take great pride at Yeoman Rainguard in being able to offer a comprehensive service, before, during and long after the supply and fitting of our specialist products. We will endeavour to meet and exceed the expectations for your project regardless of size, budget or location. Whether you are an architect, local authority, building contractor, homeowner or self builder, our unique professional services are available free of charge and without obligation.
DESIGN Our experienced team are able to offer expert advice on specifications in addition to providing product samples, where required, for client consideration and approval. We can assist in liaison with local planning authorities and also advise on conservation issues. If the project is at an early stage then we can help with system design and specification, take quantities from project drawings and provide fully itemised quotations.
ONSITE For renovation or new build projects which are already onsite, we can arrange full site surveys, itemised quotations and provide accurate advice on technical issues including material selection e.g. Aluminium, GRP, Cast Iron or Copper, and help with rainwater calculations and sizing. As a manufacturer we are able to produce special (non stock) items to suit specific site requirements and also include the replication of existing period design patterns.
MANUFACTURE Once your exact requirements have been agreed, Yeoman Rainguard products are made at our head office and manufacturing facility in Leeds. We use only the finest raw materials, latest state of the art technology and most important of all, our own directly employed skilled craftsmen.

DESPATCH Orders are despatched using our own fleet of delivery vehicles or by overnight carrier. All products are securely packaged for safe transit and site storage.
INSTALLATION A recent and welcome addition to our services is onsite installation by one of our nationwide network of Approved Installation Specialists, each having a proven track record with Yeoman Rainguard products. All are able to work confidently with main contractors and end users alike. If, however, you choose to fit one of our systems yourself or decide to use a subcontractor, we will provide full installation instructions. Our sales department can offer advice on any aspect of installation.
AFTER SALES Most of our products are maintenance free, however once your project is complete we are able to offer guidance on suitable methods of cleaning. Should the unforeseen happen and any item is damaged, then we can supply replacements quickly.

Yeoman Rainguard GRP Rainwater Systems are suitable for all types of building and are particularly suitable as a replacement where cast iron or lead systems have previously been installed - on older buildings, churches etc. or listed buildings where an exact duplicate or perfect match to an existing hopper, gutter or pipe is essential. However, on new developments Yeoman Rainguard GRP Systems can add that essential character and finishing touch.

GRP HOPPERS Yeoman Rainguard GRP Hoppers bring character and traditional style to any building - old or new. There are 38 standard designs available and these can be further enhanced by adding coats of arms, dates or embellishments. The hoppers are through coloured, the standard finish is a reproduction cast iron surface in Black, and is also available in any BS5252 (inc BS4800) or RAL colour. Should none of the standard designs meet the desired criteria, then we are able to manufacture to individual requirements or match an existing hopper by moulding from an existing sample.

GUTTER BRACKETS All Yeoman Rainguard gutter brackets are manufactured from mild steel flat bar, which is then spun galvanised prior to the application of a polyester powder coat finish. Where it is not possible to coat brackets in a matching colour to the gutter, then brackets are supplied galvanised for the customer to apply a suitable paint finish. Gutter brackets are produced in the following types; profiled fascia bracket, profiled rafter bracket, and profiled drive-in rise and fall brackets. Client’s own design available to order. Should the location of the project be subject to severe weather conditions i.e. coastal environment then we would recommend the use of 316 stainless steel with a polyester powder coat finish. Other surface treatments are available to order.
SILICONE SEALANT & GUTTER BOLTS The recommended silicone to be used for gutter sealing is a low modulas, reactive cure sealant conforming to ISO11600, available from Yeoman Rainguard. Nylon gutter bolts, nuts and washers are available for fixing gutter lengths; these are available in Black or natural (for special colours a touch up paint is available on request). Nylon bolts are coloured using a dyeing process and, as such, the colour will eventually bleach out when exposed to UV light.
MAINTENANCE Yeoman Rainguard GRP requires no maintenance other than periodical cleaning out.

GRP GUTTERS 1. Fix gutter brackets to give correct line and level (min. 2 no. brackets per length). Ensure fixings are adequate to obviate pull out. 2. Place gutter in position ensuring correct sit into brackets. 3. At joint, drill gutters through underside and also through top of front face to accept gutter bolts (holes to be 3mm oversize to allow for thermal movement). 4. Ensure gutter socket and spigots are dry, clean, dust and grease free prior to applying silicone sealant. 5. Apply 2 no. 6mm sealant beads between spigot and socket joint around bolt hole to ensure alignment of leading edges of gutter when joints are bolted together. 6. Bolt joints together through previously drilled holes, at the same time aligning front edges. Do not over tighten. 7. Drill back of gutter approx. 18mm from top at every joint and maximum 600mm centres. (Holes to be 3mm oversize to allow thermal movement).
8. Secure gutter through previously drilled holes in back, using a minimum 18mm OD washer between head of fixing and gutter. Do not over tighten and cause misalignment of gutter (use packers between back of gutter and wall if necessary). Ensure fixings are adequate to obviate pull out. 9. Secure gutter to bracket by bolting through hole provided at every alternate bracket. 10. Remove any surplus sealant from faces of gutter. The Yeoman Rainguard Gutter should be fixed wherever possible using the profile gutter brackets. This principle applies even when existing corbels are used. Where it is not possible to use brackets and the gutter is sat only on corbels, the gutters can be manufactured with extra strengthening, however the corbels should project far enough to support the full underside of the gutter.

GRP PIPES 1. Drill hole through ears of pipe using HSS drill. 2. Place rainwater pipe in correct position and mark wall through pre-drilled holes in ears of pipe. 3. Drill wall using appropriate masonry bit. 4. Use only stainless steel screws and place through washer provided. 5. Fix through pre-drilled pipe ears using appropriate length screws and plugs to obviate pull out. 6. When fixed securely push on a sela cover to conceal screw head. 7. Ensure pipes are plumb and offer up next pipe or component. 8. Fit in to socket leaving approx. 5mm gap for expansion and contraction. 9. Joints between sections can be pointed with silicone if required. 10. Bobbins are available to ensure a straight line to rainwater pipes where the building surface may be uneven. 11. Pipes may be cut to length using a fine tooth hacksaw.

Gutters are designed to be fixed direct to the fascia board, thus removing the need for fascia brackets. However, brackets are available if required. ALUMINIUM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS XL ALUMINIUM GUTTER 1. Place gutter in position, fixing to fascia board at 500mm centres through oversize hole to allow for expansion and contraction using 32mm stainless steel screws and oversize washer. 2. Allow 2mm expansion gap between lengths and components. 3. Ensure all joint areas are clean, dry dust and grease free prior to applying silicone sealant. 4. Apply 2 no. 6mm beads of low modulas silicone to each side of joint. 5. Place joint clip in position pressing down firmly until it clips into position.
6. Using a cloth to protect the finish, press the joints into place using bent pliers. 7. Remove any surplus sealant from faces of gutter. 8. Gutter may be cut using a fine tooth hacksaw or power saw with aluminium blade. Ensure any burr is removed with a file. 9. Ensure any cut ends are coated using the touch up paint provided. 10. Brackets may be used if required. Brackets must be used with the 125 x 55mm XL half round gutter.
STANDARD ALUMINIUM BOX GUTTER 1. Use only stainless steel screws and place through washer provided. 4. Fix through pre-drilled pipe ears using appropriate length screws and plugs to obviate pull out. 5. When fixed securely, push on sela cover to conceal screw head. 6. Ensure pipes are plumb and offer up next pipe or component. 7. Fit in to socket leaving approx. 5mm gap for expansion and contraction. 8. Joints between sections can be pointed with silicone if required. 9. Bobbins are available to ensure a straight line to rainwater pipes where the building surface may be uneven. 10. Pipes may be cut to length using a fine tooth hacksaw or power saw with aluminium blade. Ensure any burr is removed with a file.

COPPER & ZINC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS COPPER GUTTERS 1. Gutter brackets should be fixed to fascia board at 900mm centres using copper nails or other appropriate fixings. 2. Gutter lengths should be loosely laid in to bracket to calculate correct length and cut appropriately using a fine tooth saw. 3. Outlets should be placed in position and secured by hooking under the front scroll of the gutter and roll in to place. The tabs on the back of the outlet should be folded down securely to fix the outlet in place. The outlet hole 75mm diameter should be drilled using a tank cutter. The hole should be de-burred. 4. Gutters should be joined using a joint strip. Hook the joint strip under the front scroll of the gutter and roll to follow the gutter profile. Keep the joint tight to the gutter to compress the rubber gaskets. Ensure the joint is equally spaced over the adjoining gutter/ component sections. The tabs on the back of the joint should be folded down securely to fix the joint in place. Gutter internal and external angles should be joined the same way. 5. Once gutter length is complete, sit gutter firmly in to gutter brackets. Fold down tabs on front and rear of fascia bracket to secure gutter in place. 6. Stop ends are handed and are fixed by silver soldering. Each joining surface should be cleaned with wire wool. Flux should be applied to joining surfaces. Heat using a blow torch until flux begins to bubble. Apply solder to joint gap to seal. Please note discolouration of the gutter will occur due to the heat applied. This will disappear in time as the gutter weathers.

COPPER PIPES 1. Draw plumb line from centre of gutter outlet to floor. 2. Drill single hole using masonry drill at maximum 2.0m centres or where appropriate. Use appropriate rawlplug. 3. Screw coach screw in to wall. Pliers may be used. 4. Screw saddle bracket in to position and leave open.
5. Place pipe in position, close saddle bracket and tighten thumb screw. 6. Bends can be used to make offsets and can be extended using a section of pipe between them. 7. Shoes are available and should be secured using saddle bracket as before.

CORNICE & FASCIA Yeoman Cornices and Fascias are manufactured from GRP - glass reinforced polyester, a material ideal for today’s environment - flexible and lightweight, yet offering heavy duty strength. Detailed alongside are standard mouldings available, however the beauty of GRP means other designs can be easily manufactured or existing features replicated. All sections are through coloured to client requirements and, as such, will require no maintenance other than periodical cleaning with a mild soap solution. ANTICLIMB - ANTICRIME Yeoman Anticlimb is manufactured from GRP which is lightweight and virtually maintenance free. The system fits over existing downpipes, fully encasing them, thus making climbing pipes virtually impossible. It can be manufactured in any colour and, as the colour goes right through the material, no routine painting is necessary. Yeoman Turrets and Clock Towers are custom moulded and hand crafted in GRP (glass reinforced polyester), a material ideal for today’s environment - flexible and lightweight yet offering heavy duty strength. They are all through coloured which means they will never need painting. Our turrets and clock towers are designed to replicate age old styles and are available as standard with a steeple or domed roof. Side panels are shiplap and are finished in white. Roofs and skirts are lead effect. Other colour ways are available to order. All our turrets have a range of embellishments which include louvered panels, finials, weathervanes and clocks. Our clocks are manufactured by Hawkins - one of the country’s leading manufacturers. Each clock has a two speed movement which allows for seasonal alterations. Our craftsmen have over 30 years experience in moulding GRP, and their skill and expertise is freely available for the design and manufacture of special orders to your own specification. Yeoman Turrets and Clock Towers are manufactured under a strict Quality Assurance Scheme in accordance with ISO 9001. The quality control policy is maintained throughout the company from raw material purchasing through to manufacture of units.
All clocks are manufactured by Hawkins Clock - one of the country’s leading manufacturers. A standard 240 volt supply is required.
TURRETS AND CLOCK TOWERS The Yeoman range of turrets and clock towers are produced using the hand lay-up moulding technique. All materials used are British Standard approved, chopped strand mat to BS3496, woven rovings to BS3691 and polyester resin to BS3532. All are through coloured, and pigments used are rated to BS1006. The specification offers a high degree of weather resistance ensuring your Yeoman Turret or Clock Tower will give many years of excellent service. The standard side panel of both the Grange and Rectory turrets is shiplap boarding whilst the Manor and Ross turrets have flat side panels.
The clocks are mounted directly on the turret but can be spaced away to allow rear illumination. The clocks feature a two speed mechanism which allows for seasonal alterations. A fully automated restart unit is available as an option for time changes and restarts after power failure.
FINIALS AND WEATHERVANES Finials are manufactured from GRP and are securely fixed to the turret with a threaded bar and laminated into position. Weathervanes are manufactured from beaten and welded mild steel with hand forged scrollwork. They are then shot blasted, hot zinc sprayed, primed and finished in black top coat. The vanes are balanced and have a ball bearing to ensure free and accurate movement in the wind.
Aluminium louvre panels can be fitted if required, to give airflow to the roof space or to provide an outlet for a mechanical ventilation system supplied and fitted by others.
FIXING INSTRUCTIONS
Yeoman Turrets are designed to fix across the ridge of the roof or alternatively on the pitch of the roof.
Clocks come ready installed on to the turret and only need the hands to be secured using the Allen key provided.
In each case a timber framework needs to be created on site, clad in exterior grade plywood and cloaked in lead to flash in with the roof covering.
It is recommended that all electrical work is carried out by an approved electrical contractor.
The drawings above show typical detail for fixing across the ridge. Further information is available from our sales office if required. The turret is fixed to the pre prepared frame using the Sela type fixings provided.
A full set of fixing instructions for both the turret and clock are included with each delivery.
