Microsoft Word 2010

Note the box around the image. It means the image is selected so the Picture Tools – Format toolbar appears. This special toolbar will allow you to be creative with the image’s appearance, arrangement features (including how text flows – wraps around the image), and the crop tool. (Sometimes you will need to click on Format to “wake up” the tab.)

Now You Try It: Search for and insert a clip art image of your choice. Using Picture Styles from the Picture Tools- Format ribbon select Soft Edge Oval. From the Arrange group, position your image in the middle of the document. Enter a title for your picture and wrap text “tight” with the picture. Text wrapping takes practice. Try a few effects to see how you can arrange your text to flow or wrap around a clipart, text box, or other item.

Click Crop. You will notice black marks at the corners and sides of the image. Move your courser to a crop mark and “cut” away the part of the image you do not want. Resize image by clicking and dragging from a corner.
