THE “EQUISSENTIALS" Grand National Childs First Ridden Saddle Pony n.e 12.2hh, Rider 5yrs & under 12yrs For Pony Hacks three years of age and over, ridden by a child 5yrs & under 12yrs. Shetland ponies are eligible to enter. As these are saddle classes, judging will be on the suitability of the mount for the rider. A snaffle bit must be used, with a cavesson noseband; a narrow strap may be attached to the front of the saddle. Cane to not exceed 40cm, no spurs permitted. No cantering is allowed during work on the ring. However a short canter is allowed during the workout.

2018 “HUFGLOCKEN” GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1.

The Event shall be run in accordance with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules & General Rules in force from time to time & Rules applicable to The “Grand National Championships”. SHC Competition Rules are available on request or can be viewed at the Show Office on the days of the Show.

2.

The Grand National Committee reserves the right itself to interpret all questions, conditions and shall make any relevant decisions in regard to, or arising from any incident, at or pertaining to this Show, without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. The Grand National Committee will decide any questions not covered in the Rules & Conditions of Entry, their decision will be final.

3.

Entry & competition in this Event is voluntary. By Entry all participants agree to be bound by the decisions of the Grand National Committee &/or the Council.

4.

Entry to this Event shall constitute an agreement & affirmation by the Exhibitor/ Owner/ Responsible Officer (which includes Lessee/Manager/Rider/Handler) to compete subject to & in accordance with the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules, General Rules & Rules applicable to this Event & affirms the entrant is eligible to compete.

5.

Entry to this Event shall be by Invitation to those eligible under the Entry criteria as set out by the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc. in this Schedule, Entry Fees apply.

6.

Entries will only be accepted from entrants who have gained the required Performance Criteria as set by the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc.

7.

The Committee reserves the right to refuse or withdraw any Entry/Entries from this Competition without having to assign a reason.

8.

In this Competition and in all Show Horse Council Rules the term "horse" refers to a saddle horse, galloway or pony.

9.

If Exhibit is qualified for both Open and Show Hunter Sections the Exhibitor must choose between entry in the relevant Open Saddle Class or Show Hunter Class. No exhibit can be shown in both the Open and Show Hunter Classes.

10.

All information supplied by the Exhibitor &/or Owner &/or Responsible Officer (i.e. the person in charge of the horse) shall be true & correct and represent that the horse/rider is eligible to compete. If this information is found to be false the Exhibit will be disqualified and the Responsible Officer &/or the Owner of the Entry be subject to disciplinary action by the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc.

11.

Where a horse is registered &/or entered in the name of a minor (under 18 years) the Responsible Officer shall be a parent, Guardian or other nominated person who will then be considered the Responsible Officer.

12.

a)

Horse Entries shall only be accepted where the Entry Form is signed by the Registered Owner.

b)

If the Owner of the horse is to be in charge of the horse during the Competition then the Owner shall be required to be nominated as the Responsible Officer.

c)

If a person other than the Owner shall be in charge of the horse during the Competition then that person shall be required to be nominated on the Entry Form as the Responsible Officer.

13.

In the event of Disciplinary action the persons considered responsible shall be the Exhibitor/Owner &/or the Responsible Officer &/or the person in charge of the horse at the time of the offence.

14.

A Saddle Horse will be over 15hh, a Galloway will be over 14hh & not exceeding 15hh, a Pony will be not exceeding 14hh.

15.

All horses entering in Hack & Rider Events shall be registered with the National Saddle Horse Register (administered by the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc.)

16.

The Registration shall be in the name of the Owner as shown on Entry Form or Entries will not be accepted.

17.

All Owners/Exhibitors/Competitors & Responsible Officers shall be current Members of The Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. or members of its Interstate S.H.C. Affiliates and access to the data base will be declined if the 2017 - 2018 Membership is not in place.

Providing that the Show Society concerned has agreed and complied with the provisions of the Grand National Policy Document, a qualifying Performance considered for Entry of Horses in Horse Events shall be:

"Horse of The Year" Winner & Runner-Up in Open & Show Hunter Pony, Galloway or Hack from SHOW HORSE COUNCIL AFFILIATE 2017 Horse of The Year Shows and Qualifiers.

c)

The 2017 "Grand National" Winner & Runner-Up in Open & Show Hunter Ponies, Galloways & Hacks.

d)

Leading Rein Winner & Runner Up from 2017 ROYAL SHOW, SHC Affiliate Competition or other as ST approved &/or recognized by the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc. When a event has a 1 place nd Winner the 2 Place pony is considered the Runner Up. Restricted to Ponies n/e 12hh with Rider aged 3Yrs & Under 8yrs. (Age at date of Grand National)

e)

NO Performance is required for EVENT TT, Restricted Rider aged 3Yrs & Under 6yrs. (Age at date of Grand National) Mounts to be n/e 14hh, and must be entered in Saddle Pony/Show Hunter Children’s or Open sections, including First Ridden, Lead Rein or Shetland Pony event at the 2018 Grand National. No Entry fee will be charged, Riders and Handlers must be full SHC members.

a)

All Horses shall compete in the Height Class for which they are eligible at the time of the Competition.

b)

In accordance with SHC Measuring Rules, ONLY Current (Provisional, Annual or Life) Official Measuring Cards/Certificates as issued by The Show Horse Council of Australasia or its Interstate S.H.C. Constituent Affiliates, shall be recognized & accepted. Horses not in possession of a current SHC Measuring Card/Certificate meeting this criterion are required to be presented for Measurement at the Show.

c)

The Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. reserves the right to measure any horse. If any discrepancy in height occurs the horse will be transferred to the appropriate Class.

a)

All horses must be exhibited under saddle except where directed by the Judge or Steward.

b)

Where an Exhibitor has more than one Entry in the same Horse Class a change of Rider between these Entries may be made during the Class providing the Exhibitor has advised the Ringmaster of the change prior to starting time of the Class.

c)

All Entries will Work on the Ring prior to their individual Workout. In the case of Heats, there may be a later call up for some Entries; this will be decided when the numbers are finalised & will be displayed & procedures advised to competitors.

HACK CLASSES – SET WORK OUTS Due to time restraints, NO HALT to be done at completion of Workout. SHOW HUNTER CLASSES – SET WORKOUTS Due to time restraints, NO HALT to be done at completion of Workout.

SHOW HUNTER CLASSES: If the Winner or Runner Up are currently registered with: The AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE SOCIETY and the owners are current ASHS members, sponsorship prize money to the value of $1000 for the winner & $500 for the runner up will be awarded by The AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE SOCIETY, in class C6, C8, 11,14,17,19. INTENTION TO COMPETE MUST BE REGISTERED WITH ASHS TH SECRETARY PRIOR TO 28 FEBRUARY 2018 TO BE ELIGIBLE. 23.

a) Riders in Riding Classes shall compete in the Age Group for which the Rider is eligible at first day of the competition. All RIDER CLASS ENTRANTS Date Of Birth will be required for data bank. b) The same horse cannot be ridden by two riders in the same Rider Section. c) In the case of a rider aged Six years & under Nine Years entered in a Rider Class, the mount shall not exceed 14hh. d) In the case of a rider aged Nine years & under Twelve years entered in a Rider Class, the mount shall not exceed 15hh. e) In Riding Classes under 17 years Safety Helmets & Jodhpurs boots are compulsory, optional – cane/crop, spurs. f)

25.

RIDING CLASS and LEADING REIN WORKOUTS WILL BE SET and included in Show Catalogue and displayed on SHC website prior to the Event.

CHILDRENS EVENTS SADDLE HORSE & SHOW HUNTERS The following shall apply: SET WORK OUTS - Due to time restraints, NO HALT to be done at completion of Workout. Qualifying Performance for Childs Classes shall be: st st a) 1 PLACE WINNER from Childs Class (Saddle horse, Show Hunter).1 PLACE WINNER from First Ridden or Ridden Shetland at a 2017 SHC Horse of The Year Show or other 2017 SHC GN Qualifier Show. st st b) 1 PLACE WINNER from Childs Class (Saddle, Show Hunter). 1 PLACE WINNER from First Ridden or Ridden Shetland at a 2017 Royal Show. st c) 1 PLACE WINNER & RUNNER UP from Childs Class (Saddle, Show Hunter) or Shetland) at the 2017 Grand National. d) The Rider in a Childs Class shall be Under 17 years with exception of Shetland Class for which the Rider shall be under 14years, First Ridden 5 years & Under 12 years Breast Plate Numbers corresponding to the Catalogue shall be worn in Horse events (Black) and Rider events (Blue), to be displayed in a Breast plate holder to be worn on the horse.

26.

OWNER RIDER AWARD: All Saddle Horse and Show Hunter Classes (including Children’s classes) Will have the opportunity for the Highest Place Owner Rider to win this award. The entered horse must be owned at the time of Competition by THE RIDER or The Riders IMMEDIATE FAMILY: FATHER, MOTHER, BROTHER or SISTER. Nominate for OWNER/RIDER at time of entry by ticking relevant section.

27.

DRUG RULES AND DRUG TESTING 7.00 – 7.8 inclusive apply

The principal elements of SHC Drug Testing & Treatment Rules are: .1 The welfare of the horse

.2 The level playing field. 7.1 It is the intention of these Rules that at any Official Show and/or SHC event, all horses shall perform, at the time of competition, without any Prohibited or Banned substance/s within their system. 7.2 Each of the Responsible Officer, Owner and the Competitor/Exhibitor must ensure that the horse for which he/she is responsible is, at the time of Competition in any Official Show, free from any drug or prohibited substance. Penalties as adopted herein shall apply to any breach of this Rule. It will not be a defence to any charge relating to the breach of this Rule that the Owner, Competitor/Exhibitor or Responsible Officer may have not known that the horse was not free from a prohibited or banned substance. 7.3 The responsible Officer must be over 18 yrs of age- where the owner of a horse is under 18 yrs a Parent or Guardian shall be the Responsible Officer. 7.4 Where a Responsible Officer is not declared, or is not present at the Show, the Owner and the Competitor/ Exhibitor shall be considered responsible. 7.5 The Responsible Officer/Owner/Competitor/Exhibitor will ensure that, at the time the horse is drug tested, a suitable person will attend as a witness, to act for him/her, and to sign on his/her behalf any drug testing documents. In any absence the Responsible Officer /Owner/Competitor/Exhibitor will, in all respects, remain accountable according to these Rules. 7.5A TREATMENT SHEET & MEDICATION RULES a) At any SHC Official Show where Drug Testing is carried out, a SHC Treatment Sheet is required to be lodged (as per requirements of the Competition Rules & Show Rules for any horse that has been administered any Treatment, Foreign Substance, Medication, Drug, Prohibited or Banned Substance, within 30 days prior to and/or on the day of competition. b) The onus is on the Responsible Officer/Owner/Competitor/Exhibitor to lodge a Treatment Sheet for any horse he/she has entered/ competed in any Official Show &/or SHC event where Drug Testing is to be carried out. The Treatment Sheet shall be completed IN ALL RESPECTS and lodged as per the requirements of the Treatment Sheet & as the Rules of the Show specify. Any supporting Veterinary information, as required by the SHC and/or the Show’s Rules, must be submitted along with the Treatment Sheet and within the time prescribed. c) An incomplete or incorrect Treatment Sheet may be rejected and if that occurs the Exhibit shall be ineligible to compete. d) Where a Treatment Sheet is lodged, the Ringmaster will advise the Exhibitor/ Responsible Officer of the Ground Jury’s decision as to whether or not the horse will be permitted to compete. f)

Lodging of a Treatment Sheet Form does not release an Exhibit from being Drug Tested, nor from Disciplinary Action by the SHC should a positive result to a Prohibited or Banned substance occur.

g) FAILURE TO SUBMIT A TREATMENT SHEET in accordance with these Rules, the Rules of the Show and the Treatment Sheet, shall be considered a BREACH OF THESE RULES and penalty/s will apply. h) It is the obligation of the Owner &/or Responsible Officer &/or Exhibitor of the horse, and not the SHC, to ensure that the horse is eligible to compete. 7.6 The Show Horse Council may carry out random testing for drugs at any Official Show &/or SHC Show/Event at any time and may cause to be made any test of any exhibit to determine whether any Prohibited or Banned Substance has been administered to the exhibit and may detain such exhibit for such period as deemed reasonable from the time of selection to procure the samples. The method of selection to be consistent and transparent. a) The collection of samples may involve the collection of urine and/or the taking of blood.

b) Compliance with this Rule is mandatory to all exhibits when competing at any Official Show &/or SHC event. c) Refusal to submit an exhibit for drug testing shall be deemed a breach of these Rules, resulting in disqualification and/or disciplinary action and/or penalties as determined by the Show Horse Council. 7.7 Drug testing shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant Laboratory Sample Collection Procedure Regulations. a) A Drug Levy of $20 will apply to each horse participating in the Competition. 28.

The Show Horse Council shall not be responsible for the loss of, or for any damage or injury occasioned to any Exhibit or the property of any Exhibitors from any cause whatsoever.

29.

Exhibitors/Competitors enter & compete at their own risk.

30.

Dress: As per S.H.C. Competition Rules.

31.

Attention is drawn to SHC Competition Rules applying to bits, whips and prohibited gear. Rules 30 to 32 will be enforced by the appropriate Ring Officials.

32.

Dummy or Roller Ball Spurs not exceeding 2cm in length are permitted. Any other type of spur is not permitted.

33.

The Judge’s decision is final.

34.

No outside assistance is to be displayed during Competition, a Penalty of Disqualification may apply to a breach of this Regulation.

35.

All protests shall be in writing accompanied by a Fee of $50 GST Incl. & be in the hands of the Ground Jury no later than one hour after the Class, after which no protest shall be entered.

36.

Unruly behavior from a spectator or connection of an Entrant which could disrupt Competition &/or cause a disturbance will not be tolerated. Any persons involved in such behavior will be escorted from the premises forthwith.

37.

The policy will be enforced that during a competition if first request to an Exhibitor/Competitor to comply with Rules &/or instructions of a Show Official is not followed A YELLOW Warning Card will be issued, further non compliance shall incur disqualification.

38.

Data Base Entry’s, Entry Fees, Stable Form, Stable Fees, & a copy of Birth Certificate if under 30yrs if not st supplied at time of memberships application, must to be received by the Closing Date of Entries (i.e. 31 December 2017).

39. A HANDLING FEE of $30 will be applied to any Entries not in order as per Rules & Check List & to be brought into order within TEN DAYS of notification accompanied by the Fee. No Incomplete or late Entries will be accepted. 40.

Entry Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE after Closing Date of Entries.

41.

All Withdrawals must be notified in writing to the Secretary

41A Prior to the Show, a change of Rider for a horse exhibit or, change of mount for a Rider Class, is to be notified to the Show secretary asap. IMPORTANT: If such change is required during the Show, notification is to be lodged at the Show Office. 42.

The Organizing Committee &/or the Show Horse Council Of Australasia Inc. &/or the Ground Jury reserves the right to alter the Program, Judges, Schedule or Timetable.

Riders of all horses being exercised on the premises are required to wear A.S.A. approved safety harness headgear & appropriate riding boots at all times.

44.

FACILITIES: All requirements of the Venue Management shall be strictly adhered to. a) Stables at the Venue will be allocated by the S.H.C. at its discretion. STABLE NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED ON ARRIVAL BY THE STABLE WARDEN; every effort will be made to satisfy special requests however we may be unable to meet all requests. b) Shavings are to be PRE-ORDERED at time of Entry; any Shavings NOT PRE-ORDERED will NOT be available for delivery on Monday or Tuesday. Top up orders will be delivered from Wednesday. c) Bond as set by S.I.E.C. of $75 per stable will be payable with Entry Fees. Bank details to be provided on stable form to allow refund (with in 48hrs) after inspection of stable on departure. Due to demand, follow on bookings may occur on short stay stables; if this occurs shavings order for second booking will be issued by the Stable warden on arrival. d) Bond of $10 payable on each Hut Key when issued & refunded upon its return. e) When departing, SIEC will carry out inspection of Stable/s, ALL bedding to be removed & placed in Bins provided. Upon inspection, if the stable is undamaged & cleanliness is passed by SIEC as satisfactory by the Stable Warden, Bond refunds will be deposited into the nominated bank account of competitors. f)

For administrative purposes, exhibitors are required to advise the Stable Warden if their horse is vacating its stable overnight but returning to further use the stable.

g) Stables & /or Huts allocated to an Exhibitor/Competitor may not be transferred to another Exhibitor/Competitor except where re-allocated by the Council. h) Cancellation of stables/shavings/Huts/Camping must be notified in writing to the Secretary no later st than Wednesday 21 February 2018 or NO REFUND WILL BE DUE, $50 Handling Fee will apply to any such cancellations. i)

Ground usage Fee of $20 will apply to all Exhibitors, include on Cover Sheet.

j)

Day Parking - for Horses not stabled - $15 Fee will apply per horse for each day on the grounds, include on Cover Sheet.

k) Camping space for Trucks/Floats/Caravans will be allocated in advance by SHC in accordance with SIEC numbered Site Plan & size of vehicle, any unauthorized use of sites will incur disciplinary action. A Camping Vehicle Sticker/Pass will be included in your Competitors Pack & available on arrival from the Show Office. Stickers must be displayed on vehicle, No unauthorised Camping will be permitted. Sites will be allocated taking into consideration availability, size of vehicle, length of stay & distance travelled. Limit of one (1) camp site per booking l)

A limited number of Huts with two Single Beds are available on site, bring own linen & blankets etc. Amenities Block & Mess Hall on site. If insufficient huts to meet demand, preference will be given to Interstate exhibitors with stabled horse/s & requiring multiple nights. Limit of one (1) Hut only per booking.

m) Please Note: Due to limited facilities Entries in Children's Monday Classes WILL NOT BE ALLOCATED horse or rider accommodation for full period of the Show unless the horse is entered in other Classes. n) Horses stabled overnight are not to be left without arrangement in place for an emergency contact person on site. o) All instructions of the Stable Wardens & Show Officials are to be followed, refer to Rule 33, 35 & 36. p) Training Areas:  Monday – Indoor Arena 3, 4 & 11, plus Walking paths  Tuesday, Wednesday – Thursday, Friday, Saturday– Indoor Arena plus Arena 3, 4, 11 & Lunging area.  All other areas are OFF LIMITS. 45.

A horse size working roster will operate in the Indoor Arena, the Timetable for practice will be up on SHC th website preceding the event and on display at the Show. Practice times on Monday 19 12.00pm – th th 8.00pm,Tuesday 20 6.00am until 7.30am Wednesday 21 6.00am until 7.30am , Thursday 22nd 6.00am until

7.30am, Friday 23rd from 6.00am until 7.30am, Saturday 24th 6.00am – 7.30am. Riders are requested to exercise CAUTION at all times, at discretion of Show Officials numbers exercising will be controlled at any one time. Where the Timetable allows, Entries for the upcoming Class, if presented as for Competition, will be permitted to warm up. In addition, two outside Arenas will be available throughout the day. Lunging is only permitted in the designated areas. 46. Spectators: FREE GATE ENTRY to Venue will apply on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only of the Show. Gate Entry Fee will apply on the Saturday of the Show however Competitors will receive Venue Entry Passes for Saturday with their Acceptances allocated on basis of : 1. RIDER ENTRY - 2 PASSES HORSE ENTRY - 2 PASSES. EXTRA ENTRIES – Maximum 4 Passes 2. Gate Entry Fees to be applied on Saturday to all others by S.I.E.C. Gate Staff during hours of 7.30am to 8.000pm - $15 Adults, Family - $25, Child or Concession $10 GST Inclusive. 47.

Entries to be presented to the Marshaling Stewards fifteen (15) minutes prior to scheduled time of the Class.

Drug Testing in accordance with Condition of Entry Rules 27 a) to i) will be carried out.

49.

Upon confirmation of Results all Prize Money will be paid by direct deposit to nominated Account.

50.

The jurisdiction of the Ground Jury applies for 30 days prior to and for 30 days after the Event or until resolution of any matter pertaining to the Event on which it is adjudicating.

51.

Venue requirements: Dogs must be kept on a lead and under restraint at all times or be removed from venue. Private buggies must only be driven by a licensed driver. Skateboards & bicycles not permitted in stable area. SEGWAYS are prohibited at this venue.

52.

DPI Guidelines on Bio Security will apply to this Event, please refer to current status on Hendra Virus. Please bring proof of vaccination if your horse has been immunised.

53.

The S.H.C. Risk Management Policy applies to all persons competing &/or attending the Event. A Copy of this Policy will be available at the Show Office throughout the Show.

54.

Stable Warden Office sited in covered area opposite Mess Hall NO ENTRY TO THE GROUNDS BEFORE MONDAY at 12.00pm. Bump In Tue/Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat between 6.30am & 7.00pm. No Horse Arrivals will be permitted to the Venue outside these hours. Camping will be allocated by the SHC, any unauthorized use of sites will incur disciplinary action.
