Caribbean Canvas Company designs and manufactures bags, clothes and accessories for people who live, work and travel throughout our islands. We’re from the West Indies and the sun, sand and sea surround us everyday. What we do is driven by this, in the things we make, the sports we focus on and in our commitments to the environment and our community. Working with classic and functional designs, delivering quality and durability and providing good value for your money, we don’t make anything that doesn’t have a reason to be made and that we wouldn’t want, need or use ourselves.

CCC, one year later: What a difference a year makes! Most start-ups don’t make that milestone. For Caribbean Canvas Company our first store in downtown Georgetown’s Flagship building now has a sister on the Crescent at Camana Bay and we’re even featured exclusively at an airport store as well. It’s been a great year and for that we all want to say a sincere, “THANK YOU!” Thanks to all our hardworking staff, our families and most importantly, our customers! Thanks to all of you that visited our stores and our Facebook pages, saw our advertising and told your friends about us. And most importantly, to everyone that purchased something from us, Thanks again! We set out back in 2009 to create a true, responsible and credible brand for the Caribbean. We always felt that only people who really live and work in the West Indies could do this. We knew we’d have to start from scratch, to design the things that would be most useful not just for ourselves, but also for anyone visiting. We knew we’d have to manufacture everything ourselves to get it all right, and based on our sales and feedback, a lot of people out there feel the same way we do! Caribbean Canvas Company will never be a fashion company, we’ll continue to be a function company that focuses on the things you really need and can use on a regular basis in warm places. We coined the phrase “common denominators” back before we opened to describe the types of shorts , tops, bottoms, hats and bags that you go back to and use over and over again, regardless of how many other choices you have. That’s what we set out to make from the beginning. Today, over a year later. we couldn’t be more proud to hear that so many of you agree.

Community commitment continues to be a key part of CCC and in our first year we were able to offer support to many local organizations and specifically for Stay Focused, The Cayman Veterans Association, Children’s Sailing at Cayman Islands Sailing Club and the Cayman Catboat Club through our “Chari-T’s” program. CCC is a Gold Sponsor of the Kittiwake Shipwreck and, as the first Caribbean brand to be part of the prestigious “1% For The Planet” global environmental program, we donated 1% of our first year sales to our good friends over at The Central Caribbean Marine Institute, something we are tremendously proud of. THE CCC BAGS Over the years, all of us seemed to have a few different canvas bags that we used again and again. Lot’s of them were hand-me-downs, but they all had the same thing in common: they worked and they lasted. From the beginning, bags were always part of the CCC concept, with the goal being to make the bags we all need with great designs, materials, construction, durability and value. When you live, or work, or travel in the Caribbean, or really any island, bags are part of your life. Just to get on or off island, you need to cross water. That means you always end up on a plane or some sort of watercraft, lugging your stuff. Combine that with the fact that when you actually live surrounded by water, you tend to spend a lot of time in, on, under or next to the water and you have to bring all your stuff there and back from wherever you live or work. Food, drinks, books, towels, fishing, dive and snorkeling gear, kids toys, dog stuff, frisbees, footballs, cricket bats, horseshoes, bocce balls, laptops, iPods, you name it, we all need something to carry our stuff around in. We’ve designed a good variety of bags to handle just about anything, to last for a long, long time and to look good as well. Our “Caribbean Cari-All” series of bags is the mainstay of the line and they go from simple to specialized in their functions. As you might expect, canvas is the dominant material for the majority of the bags we make, everything from lightweight canvas sheeting all the way up to the heaviest “Fire Hose” grade canvas, all in great Caribbean colors or just classic natural canvas. We also do a few specialty and technical type bags that aren’t made out of canvas, but you’ll see they each have a reason for the specific materials we use. When it comes to handles, trim, and stitching, we’ve spared no expense. We use heavy duty “Weight Belt Webbing” and nautical grade line for our handles and straps, marine grade 316 quality stainless steel attachments, heavy duty nylon YKK Delrin and/or Ideal zippers in various sizes #5, #8 or #10 to match the design and functionality of the bag, heavy cotton and nylon threads, often double and triple stitched and bar-tacked. Many of our bags are also finished with our own proprietary stain and mold/mildew & antimicrobial treatment, “Cari-Coat.” At CCC, we manufacture all kinds of bags for the islands that we’re sure you’ll enjoy using for many, many years and hopefully, even a few generations!

THE CLASSIC TOTE Our “Caribbean Cari-All Classic Tote” sets a new benchmark for tote bags. These bags are the “go-to” totes for anything and everything you need to carry! The “Classic Tote” is crafted throughout from an incredibly durable 22 oz. canvas with a second outside layer stitched to the bottom of each bag. Marine grade thread is used on the whole bag with double stitching on the critical side seams. The handles are a work of technical art, featuring one continuous strap of nylon “Weight Belt Webbing” with a second strap of the 22 oz. canvas stitched on top. The handle tops are bar-tack stitched at the bag’s top hem and the comfortable handle sections are formed by wrap stitching the nylon and canvas webbing over an indestructible piece of marine grade nylon line. On the large and extra-large totes we even added a

third shoulder strap. We addressed the main complaint of tote bags, lack of organization, with 4 key features: an outside flat pocket and an interior bellows style pocket and two stitchedin, marine grade 316 stainless steel attachments, one hem level D-ring and one dog-hook on a webbing strap. The pockets help keep loose stuff handy and the ring and strap hook allow a myriad of things such as keys, glasses cases and of course, our “Cari-All Ditty Bags” and “Tote-Ganizers” to be clipped in for easy and immediate access. “The Classic Tote” comes in a host of our CCC signature colors, each one with the “Triple-C” bulls-eye logo patch stitched on the outside pocket. From the day our first store on Fort Street opened, our “Kooler Totes”have been a best seller. We designed them around our “Classic Tote” using heavy 16oz canvas that has received a special acrylic coating with the same double bottom, flat outside pocket and double strap handles. The tote is then filled with 2 oz. polyester insulation and a special waterproof inner liner and topped with a durable #8 rust proof zipper. As much as the “Caribbean uniform” prominently features the T Shirt, the cap follows directly behind! In a place where it’s almost always sunny......it’s almost always sunny! Cayman diving legend Bob Soto opened the first dive shop in the Caribbean on Grand Cayman in 1957, ushering in a new age of recreational scuba diving and earning him the title “the father of diving.” Bob was named to the Scuba Diving Hall of Fame in its inaugural year alongside Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Lloyd Bridges and many other diving pioneers. Bob originally gained his knowledge, experience and passion for diving as a result of his service in the US Navy and Merchant Marines and is an active member of the Cayman Islands Veterans Association. In days gone by catboats were used for harvesting sea turtles and fishing, hauling cargo, and as a means of transportation. In their heyday, they were a common sight in George Town Harbour and were part of traditional races, such as the Easter Regatta. At their peak, there were at least 150 of these sailing vessels in the islands. But with the advent of the automobile and outboard motor, their numbers dwindled, leaving many to fade away in backyards across the islands. Today, however, catboats are enjoying a revival, thanks to the members of the Cayman Catboat Club. Over the past 14 years, the 100-strong members of the Club have worked hard to raise awareness of the importance of the catboat to the history of the Cayman Islands and preserve its cultural legacy. Since 1946, the family owned Island Slipper company has been hand crafting innovative designs out of top quality materials. Owner John Carpenter is a true pioneer in modern sandal design and construction himself and in 1989, he set out to further improve on the age-old simple sandal. “I felt there had to be a way to make a men’s slipper that you could wear all day long,”said John. “Barefoot in the sand is about as good as it gets, and that was part of the inspiration. The sole was designed so that the ball and heel were on the same level. Arch supports are useless if your foot doesn’t stay put so I designed the sole with a raised outside contour to counteract the inside raised arch. This way the foot stays centered in the foot bed.” The foundation of the new design was the outsole. Molded in rubber, the arch support, heel cut and outside contour were incorporated into a single piece. As the soft inner shoe layers compressed with wear, foot support actually increased due to the firm rubber contour. All the time spent on the redesign quickly paid off. In 1989 the new outsole design was radically ahead of its time and created a new standard for men’s slippers. It looked different, it felt different and the durability was phenomenal. “This design concept inspired a whole new product line for men and women that’s been carried forward for more than twenty-one years.”
