Fourth Grade Curriculum Guide Fourth Grade Skills: First Quarter Language Arts § § § § § §

Nouns: Common and proper, singular and plural, possessives, pronouns Verbs: Types (action, linking, helping), forms, and tenses Adverbs and adjectives: Types and uses Sentences: Subjects and predicates Spelling: Long and short vowels, oo, är, , ôr, âr ûr, words Writing: Daily writing to focus on planning, drafting, revising, and organization of narrative and expository prompts. Students will be taught how to generate ideas, organize their writing, use voice, sentence fluency, vary word choice and include grade level conventions. FCAT Writes Rubric will be introduced to critique writing. Genre focus: descriptive writing and personal narrative.
