Grade 7 English Honors GRADE 7 ENGLISH HONORS STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING TWO ASSIGNMENTS: DIRECTIONS FOR ASSIGNMENT 1 Read the following non-fiction text below and complete the assignment that follows. This is a 100-point performance based assessment for the first marking period. This assignment is due September 15, 2016 ▪ The Dark Game: True Spy Stories ASSIGNMENT 1 Write a 4 to 5 paragraph letter to the author of your non-fiction text critiquing the book. Use the following questions as a guide: ● How well were the accounts constructed? Was it chronological? (Explain or support) ● Did the book have a clear focus? Was it entertaining? (Explain, use examples from the text) ● Was this an honest portrayal of the subject? (Explain, why or why not) ● What main points about the subject did you agree with? Did you disagree with? (Support) Make sure to use proper letter formatting. This letter must be computer generated. The rubric for the letter component is attached. Make sure to include the title of your non-fiction book in the opening paragraph. DIRECTIONS FOR ASSIGNMENT 2 Read the following fictional text below for your class and complete the assignment that follows. This is a 100-point formal assessment for the first marking period. This assignment is also due September 15, 2016 ▪ Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

ASSIGNMENT 2 Complete the “Major Works Data Sheet” ditto attached for your fictional text. The packet should be hand written. The packet includes point values for all questions. Use specific details from the text wherever possible. The ditto packet will be posted on my website if you need another copy. You may use additional space/paper where needed.
