Messages for this week: Eve is a figure of Mary, since she is presented in the Bible as the mother of all the living, and Mary as the mother of all believers. Eve said no. Mary said yes to God. Mary lived in friendship with God, attentive to God’s will. With her yes, she made it possible for the Son to come into this world. When we say yes to God, we, too, make possible the presence of love, justice, and peace, who is Christ himself.

San Pablo nos recuerda la gran dignidad que tenemos por ser pueblo de Dios. María tomó riesgos, porque su embarazo no iba a ser comprendido y por la gran responsabilidad que asumía. Pero dijo sí e hizo posible la venida de Dios a nuestro mundo. Cuando decimos sí al amor, la verdad, la justicia y la paz, también permitimos que Dios siga presente en el mundo.

La Inmaculada Concepción nos enseña que nosotros también debemos abrir el camino a Cristo. Tenemos que luchar por librar al mundo del mal: el ataque a la dignidad humana, a la vida, y a la falta de cuidado por la armonía de la creación. Al luchar para que nuestro mundo se libere de la injusticia y de la violencia, vamos haciendo espacio a la venida del Reino de Dios.
Mary took risks because her pregnancy wouldn’t be understood in her society, and being the mother of the Savior was a great responsibility, but by saying yes, she made the coming of God possible. When we say yes to what pleases God—yes to love, justice, and peace—we, too, make God’s presence possible.

The feast of the Immaculate Conception shows us that we, too, can open the way to Christ. We need to struggle to free the world from evil.
