3 Dear Parents, Welcome to Glorieta Day Camp! We are so excited that you have decided to make us part of your summer! This will be our second full summer of running our Day Camp program and we look forward to making this another fun and successful experience for everyone involved. To ensure that this summer is better than ever, we have decided to add more activities and revamp our curriculum!. At Glorieta Camps, we take safety very seriously. We take great strides to guarantee that all campers and staff are taken care of every second of every day. We believe that it is critical to keep an open line of communication between parents and myself, the OnSite Day Camp Coordinator, Sally Hudgins. Within this packet you will find important information regarding safety, curriculum, and the experience that your campers will have at Glorieta. If you have any additional questions, please, don’t hesitate to contact me. It is important for us to be open and to provide as much information as possible to you, as a family, so that you feel comfortable and at ease with sending your child to Day Camp. For those of you who were with us last summer, we thank you for coming back and to those families who are new to Glorieta, we are excited to have you! See you this summer! 4 Philosophy of Ministry and Mission Statement Our Mission Statement at Glorieta Camps is to Inspire Christlike change through outdoor adventure, authentic relationships, and Biblical truth. At Glorieta Camps, we desire to set ourselves apart by getting campers to do activities that they would not come across on a daytoday basis. Activities, such as rock climbing and drift trikes, stretch them mentally, spiritually, and physically. These activities offer individuals a chance to get out of their comfort zone and to become vulnerable. We use this vulnerability to introduce the next part of our mission statement: authentic relationships. Building authentic relationships is something that we feel leaves a more real experience and lasting impression on all those we interact with. We want our relationships to go beyond the week you will have at camp and last a lifetime. Whether this be between your camper, a new cabinmate, or one our our counselors , we hope to cultivate and grow those relationships over time. Authentic relationships leads us directly into the Biblical truth portion of our mission statement. Building authentic relationships allows us to present the Word of God more thoroughly and in a more impacting ways. . This allows us, as staff, to speak into your camper’s life and walk alongside them as they develop into an incredible man or woman of God.
5 Arrival and Departure On Monday morning, the fun begins! Drop off will take place between 8:00AM and 8:30AM at Glorieta Camps, in our prayer garden. Signs and posters will be set up, helping direct you to the right location for both dropoff and pickup. As our day starts right at 8:30AM, we do ask that parents finish dropoff by this time. This will allow campers enough time to get into their cabin groups and begin their first activity. At the end of each day of camp, pickup will take place between 4:30PM and 5:00PM at Glorieta Camps, in our prayer garden. If, for any reason, a camper needs to be picked up early, parents must notify Sally Hudgins, as early as possible. It should be noted that no discount will be given if a camper comes for only part of the week or has to leave early, at any point, during camp. Authorized Adults Authorized adults are individuals who are allowed to pickup your campers. These can be added during the registration process under “Authorized Adults”. To ensure safety, we only people listed under ‘Authorized Adults’ to pickup campers at the end of each day. A photo ID will also be required to signout all campers, regardless of who is picking them up.
6 What to Expect from Us Day Camp is a great opportunity for kids to get an introduction to camp. By allowing campers to receive all of the activities and programming that makes Glorieta Camps great while still being able to go home at the end of the day, you campers will be able to easy into camp. The activities we offer range from rock climbing, archery tag, drift trikes, and swim time to cabin games, and Bible study. As you send your kids to be with us, we want to ease any and all concerns you may have. The safety and protection of your campers is our number one priority. Each cabin will have two, highly trained and passionate, counselors. These staff members have both a heart for children’s ministry and a desire to share God’s love. With a rigorous hiring process, three weeks of extensive training, and a child protection plan in place, we are able to ensure that we have the best college students, from across the country, on our staff. On top of all of that, each of our staff are CPR and First Aid certified and the majority will be Lifeguard trained, as well. Lunch is provided for your child around noon each day! As being out in the sun can be draining, we are providing hearty lunches for the campers and staff to ensure that our bodies are taken care of. We are currently in our 4th summer of our 7 year walkthrough of the Bible. This summer, we will be covering the prophets and, therefore, our lessons and curriculum will be over the books Isaiah to Malachi. As our theme for this summer is “...and the world will know”,we will be learning what it means to be a prophet and how to bring the Good news to the community.

8 What We Expect from You As parents, you have the important job of preparing your campers for camp. Your campers will be away from you each day for several hours, surrounded by new people and activities while in a new environment. As camp gets closer, please take the time to talk to your campers about what they can look forward to while at camp. By referring to new activities (such as the rock climbing, drift trikes, archery tag, and water activities) you will be able to help get your campers excitement flowing and build their anticipation. Another important way to prepare for camp is by making sure your campers is getting enough rest. As a week of camp will be full of nonstop fun, a good night’s rest will help your camper get the most out of camp. Staying hydrated is another important element to a camper’s enjoyment during the day. As hydration is a priority of ours, we encourage you to have your camper drink water at home, before the day starts. Although we will be taking many water breaks throughout the day, the habit of hydration should start at home.
