Re: Submission of GISC9314D3 GPS Survey On behalf of my survey party, I am pleased to confirm to you the submission of “GISC9314 Deliverable 4: Total Station Survey of Niagara College, NOTL Campus”. The process of completing this assignment included performing a Total Station Survey of a parcel of land on the Niagara College, NOTL Campus. Our first step was to perform a brief analysis of the area in question to determine the optimal location of our Occupied Point and Back Site point. The following week we set up our two initial points with exact UTM coordinates and collected 30 points per group member. The indoor processing included converting our raw points into shapefiles and processing this with the other groups in our section, to ensure topology was true using ESRI’s ArcMap. The final task was to create a Digital Elevation Model using all the points from all groups in both sections. The DEM is a gradient raster image which describes the landscape of the area of interest surrounding Niagara College including x/y coordinates and elevation values. In the final DEM map created, a hillshade layer was included but not shown in the legend because it is visible in the map by itself. Each party member contributed equally to the project, both in terms of effort as well as time. The ability to co-operate resulted in an even distribution of the workload broken down as such: Jeff Pengelly 33.3%, Jordan Neal 33.3% and Megan Burns 33.3%.
