• 1 Timothy 5:4,16 “…they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God…16 …she must assist them and the church must not be burdened…” NASU • Practice Piety - “the obligation on the part of children and grandchildren to express in a practical way their dutifulness "towards their own family" (from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words) • Assist - “to give aid from one's own resources” (from Thayer's Greek Lexicon) • Example of Neglect: Matthew 15:5-6

• Wife – Bear Children, Desire Husband, Accept His Rule • 1 Timothy 5:14 “Therefore, I want younger widows to get married, bear children, keep house, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach…” NASU – No less the responsibility of a wife with living first husband.

• Husband – Work Hard, Provide Sustenance – Psalm 128:1-2 “How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. 2 When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, You will be happy and it will be well with you.” NASU

• Wife – Submissiveness, Good Chaste, Respectful Behavior, Accentuate Inward Beauty (gentle, quiet spirit) • Husbands – Treat wives with understanding, delicate, honorable

• Wife – Subject, Respect • Husband – Fulfill role as head, protecting, nourishing, cherishing, loving wife

• Wife – Be agreeable and open to your husband that you may both rejoice! – 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 “The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” NASU

• Husband – Rejoice with your wife, no other! – Malachi 2:15-16 “…Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth. 16 "For I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says the Lord of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.” NASU – Warning in Hebrews 13:4

• Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” NASU • Genesis 18:19 “…that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice…” NASU

• Proverbs 13:24 “He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.” NASU • Proverbs 19:18 “Discipline your son while there is hope, And do not desire his death.” NASU • Proverbs 22:15 “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.” NASU

• Proverbs 23:13-14 “Do not hold back discipline from the child, Although you strike him with the rod, he will not die. 14 You shall strike him with the rod And rescue his soul from Sheol.” NASU • Proverbs 29:15 “The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.” NASU • Proverbs 29:17 “Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul.” NASU

• Titus 2:4-5 “…encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children…be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” NASU • Mothers are to encourage fidelity, charity to husband, children, encourage right attitude toward husbands, considering example, reflection on God’s word.

• Genesis 2:15,18 “15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it…18 Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” NASU • Genesis 3:17-19 “…In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life. 18 "Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field; 19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread…” NASU

• 1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” NASU • Godly fathers provide their family with physical and spiritual nourishment. • Godly wives and mothers cultivate in their life: trust, practical sense, provides, savvy, generosity, thoughtfulness, are undaunted, optimistic, wise spoken, hard working, worthy of praise, and fears the Lord… • (Proverbs 31:10-30)

• Be the person God would have you to be: • 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” NASU • Acts 2:38-39 “38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” NASU
