BORDER FORMALITIES The delegates of the following countries are exempt from visa formalities during a stay of up to 15 days: South Africa, Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brunei, Canada, Chili, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Northern Mariana Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin, Vatican City, the Seychelles, Singapore, Uruguay, Venezuela.

The term "official passports" covers diplomatic passports as well as service, special and official passports.



The passport must be valid for at least 90 days after the expiry date of the visa.



Regardless of the visa regime applied to nationals of a country, holders of a travel document of that country must obtain a visa in advance from a French diplomatic mission.



All foreigners, except for those who do not need a visa, must obtain a visa from a French diplomatic mission. Alternatively they may obtain a sticker-type visa at border crossings.



All foreigners, with exception of those who are exempt from Visa formalities, should obtain a visa at a French mission post or obtain a visa stamp at the border points.



Those persons requesting a visa must submit a certificate from the UNWTO confirming that they are registered participants to the Conference.



TRANSPORT The following airlines are serving Reunion Island: Air Austral, Air France, Air Mauritius and Corsair. Moreover they will provide all the local transport during the conference, the dinners and during the technical inscription day. The Roland Garros Airport of Saint-Denis (airport code: RUN) is located 10 kilometres from Saint-Denis. ACCOMMODATION Special rates have been negotiated at the following hotels in Saint-Denis for delegates and participants at the Conference. We recommend participants to book their rooms as soon as possible and in any event before 30 August 2013.

Procedure for hotel reservation   

Please book your tickets through specialized websites or through your personal travelling agency (at your own cost) or through the ´Bourbon Voyages´ agency (See reference point 4). Please reserve and pay a hotel for the nights of the 10, 11 and 12 September at Saint Denis (Conference NORTH) and at Saint-Gilles for the night of the 13, tourist day WEST. We strongly suggest that you book with aforementioned hotels in order to receive the discounted rates negotiated in the context of the conference. Please mention “UNWTO” in all reservations.

In order to confirm your participation, the inscription form contained in annex II, should be filled out with all the necessary information, scanned and sent back to the UNWTO and the Reunion Region (cf. Point 2 p.1) including all references to flights and hotel reservations. 6. PROGRAMME The provisional programme is given in Annex I. It also contains information on the visits offered free of charge on 13 September (the day after the end of the conference).

7. REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICATION BADGES Access to areas reserved for meetings will be limited exclusively to participants wearing their badges. The badges can be collected at the registration desk of the Domaine de Montgaillard Culture et Arts (MOCA) in SaintDenis, Reunion Island. 8. WORKING DOCUMENTS A detailed conference programme with the names of speakers will be available shortly. The UNWTO Secretariat will arrange to send the documents to the participants of the conference "Sustainable Tourism Development of Islands", as well as the programme and any papers circulated in advance. The participants are asked to bring to the meeting the documents that were sent to them, as only a limited number of copies will be available onsite. 9. WORKING LANGUAGES Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in French and English. 10. OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION Climate

In September, the maximum temperature in Saint-Denis is about 28°C during the day. At altitude and in the evening, the temperature is cooler, from 18° to 20°. It would be advisable to pack a sweater.

The local currency is the euro. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the branches of the Banque Française Commerciale as well as at the Western Union situated at the back of the Best Western hotel « Le Saint-Denis ».

International credit cards are widely accepted. There are many ATMs in the city and on the road leading to the conference venue. Language

The official language is French.

Banks

Bank opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Banks are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Electricity

Power for electrical devices is 220 volts AC.

Restaurants
