University-specific grants n Wageningen Graduate Schools Sandwich PhD: n Sandwich PhD candidates are international PhD candidates who only spend part of their time at Wageningen University. n A sandwich PhD candidate spends the first nine months of his degree at Wageningen University to make the research proposal and follow a tailor-made education and training programme. n The next thirty months are spent conducting research in home country under the supervision of a local supervisor. Sandwich PhD candidates often returns to Wageningen for short visits, and a Wageningen University supervisor will sometimes visit the student’s home institute. n After that, PhD candidate returns to Wageningen to finish the PhD thesis, which should take approximately nine months. For thesis defence, the local supervisor will come to Wageningen to act as copromoter at your graduation ceremony.
