EUROPE’S REGIONAL AIRPORTS: EFFICIENT COOPERATION TO ENHANCE A SUSTAINABLE PASSENGER EXPERIENCE

May 11–13, 2016

Full programme available online

WELCOME FROM THE HOSTS Dear Delegate, It’s time to start considering the calendar for 2016 and we want to make sure that the 9th ACI EUROPE Regional Airports Conference & Exhibition is on your radar. Next year’s event will take place in Vilnius, hosted by Lithuanian Airports from May 11-13, 2016. Since 2008, the annual ACI EUROPE Regional Airports’ Conference & Exhibition has established itself as the gathering for airport CEOs looking beyond airline marketing, to consider wider questions of vision and strategy and the pursuit of fresh thinking through knowledge exchange with their peers. With the late advent of airport brands over the past 2 decades, regional airports learned how to step out from the crowd and assert their identity as key parts of the aviation industry and travel & tourism sector. Finding your niche and optimising your value proposition have been important themes addressed at previous editions of this conference, but aviation is always pushing forward, so airports need to key an eye on the horizon line to find answers to tomorrow’s questions: • As the number of new routes opening per year is in decline, how can I stay relevant? • Which emerging non-aeronautical revenue streams are the most promising, long term? • How can I foster more partnerships with key stakeholders in my region? • How should I approach smarter compliance, to stay ahead of smart regulation? The 2016 ACI EUROPE Regional Airports’ Conference & Exhibition aims to help you address these questions and many others, to help empower your strategy for business development at your airport. It is your opportunity to learn from a diverse mix of airport competitors, in a conference specifically tailored to the needs of Europe’s regional airports, by your Regional Airports’ Forum. We look forward to seeing you in Vilnius. Olivier Jankovec Director General, ACI EUROPE

Dear Delegate, I am very honoured to welcome you to Lithuania, the country where reality exceeds your imagination. You will experience the best delights our country could offer and we will break some myths about Lithuania that I am sure everyone of you have heard. Lithuanian Airports is a state owned enterprise, which unites and manages Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports, develops the activities of the three airports in a coordinated manner, offers a wide range of services as well as high standards of the quality of service rendered to passengers and partners. The ideology and strategy of operation of Lithuanian Airports are based on the principle ‘United but different’. Over 2014 we handled 3.8 million passengers. After the first six months of 2015 Lithuanian Airports record the growth in passenger numbers in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga by over 10% compared to the same period in 2014. During six months the three air gateways handled over 1.9 million passengers. Currently, 17 airlines operate flights to 61 destinations in 48 countries in Europe and beyond it from Lithuanian Airports. With the passenger growth tendency in mind, we may conclude that Lithuania is becoming an increasingly attractive country for both tourists and business passengers. The increasing seat occupancy motivates airlines to expand their operation in Lithuania. We hope that the 9th ACI EUROPE’s Regional Airports’ Conference & Exhibition will be memorable, fruitful and filled with good emotions. Ladies and gentlemen, please, fasten your seatbelts, relax and enjoy this Lithuanian journey! My best regards and I am looking forward to meeting you all in Vilnius. Gediminas Almantas Chief Executive Officer Lithuanian Airports

THE EVENT CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION

This will be ACI EUROPE’s 9th conference and exhibition dedicated to regional airports. The Regional Airports’ Forum is intended to provide a platform for regional airports to exchange knowledge, share best practice and discuss issues of common interest. The Regional Airports’ Forum is also intended to allow ACI EUROPE to get an in-depth knowledge of the issues and interests specific to regional airports so as to allow a better representation of such interests when lobbying the EU institutions. Conversely, the Forum should also allow regional airports to get information about EU affairs and access the EU institutions.

THE HOST Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE), founded in 1991, represents the interests of close to 500 airports in 45 European countries. Our members account for over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe. In 2014, members airports handled over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe, welcoming more than 1.8 billion passengers, 18.4 million tonnes of freight and 21.2 million aircraft movements. Our membership is comprised of airport operators of all sizes, along with national airport associations, world business partners and educational establishments.

The meeting of the ACI EUROPE’s Regional Airports’ Forum will take place before the event, on Wednesday May 11, 2016, at the kind invitation of Isavia. Attendance is reserved to Members of the Regional Airports’ Forum, for more details and registration, please contact Federico Bonaudi, Manager Regional Airports, Facilitation and Parliamentary Affairs, ACI EUROPE, [email protected]

LOCATION VILNIUS Vilnius has many names, many faces and many mysteries. Seeming to be in the remote corner of Europe, it is, in fact, located less than 20 kilometres from the geographical centre of Europe. And, indeed, Vilnius is like a miniature Europe in one town and you can find here everything – from Italian Baroque to Russian Orthodox churches, from German Gothic to Austrian Rococo architecture and traces of the Jewish past. It is a city, where one street can tell you a thousand stories. No wonder, for several centuries it is the best kept secret of the world. Famous artists and the secret source of their inspiration – from great poets and writers, from Adam Mickiewicz, Czesław Miłosz and Romain Gary, to the great painters Marc Chagall, Chaim Soutine and Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, as well as the composers Mikalojus KonstantinasČIurlionis and Rodion Shchedrin. Come to Vilnius to find Europe, come to Vilnius to find your inspiration. Come to Vilnius to fall in love – Kristina Sabaliauskaitė
