Our roots In 1986 Colin Millichamp started a small company called CM Spares specialising in engineers supplies and Land Rover parts and built a solid reputation for quality and friendly service. Everyone knew him as a ‘good bloke’ and he loved his job. He sold the business so he could go deer farming, which had been his lifelong dream. Sadly only a year later he died in a quad bike accident. He will always be a big part of the company, and as such we proudly retain his initials as an integral part of our brand.

CARAVAN STABILISER KIT TE12S011 To achieve safe towing, it is important that the weight on the drawbar of the caravan is evenly distributed throughout the entire rig. Figure 1 illustrates a typical poor towing attitude where the drawbar weight of the caravan is being borne by the rear of the towing vehicle. By incorporating a caravan stabiliser kit, one third of the caravan drawbar weight is transferred to the front wheels of the vehicle, one third on the rear wheels of the vehicle and one third on the wheels of the caravan, as shown in Figure 2. TRAILER MAINTENANCE DON’S “Keep your trailer properly maintained or it can TOP TIP: be a hazard to yourself or other road users.” ■■ Check tyre pressures regularly and look for wear or damage. ■■ Check wheel bearings regularly, jack the trailer up and spin the wheels, listening for rumbling noises, which indicate worn wheel bearings (see page 119).

Our roots In 1986 Colin Millichamp started a small company called CM Spares specialising in engineers supplies and Land Rover parts and built a solid reputation for quality and friendly service. Everyone knew him as a ‘good bloke’ and he loved his job. He sold the business so he could go deer farming, which had been his lifelong dream. Sadly only a year later he died in a quad bike accident. He will always be a big part of the company, and as such we proudly retain his initials as an integral part of our brand.
