A Message from the President

Contents

On behalf of our Chairman Herb Granath and all our Trustees, I would like to congratulate our nominees for their exceptional work. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is proud to take a leadership role in recognizing pioneers of our past, the best of our present, and the next generation of our creative and technical talent. The 34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards salute all these communities of our prominent membership. It is with special pleasure that we recognize the legacy of Mike Douglas and the Bell family, in addition to the extraordinary and continuing achievements of our colleague Jim Lipton. The quality of their contributions is mirrored in that of all our nominees being recognized tonight. In order to make the ceremony possible, we are grateful to our telecast partner CBS, our colleagues at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and to all our sponsors for making the 34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards a memorable event.

Regis Philbin Tributes

I’ve been a Regis fan for a loooong time. From his days in San Diego, to “The Joey Bishop Show” and “A.M. Los Angeles” and inevitably to “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee/Kelly”, I’ve held him in highest regard. He’s a one-of-a-kind and a unique treasure! - Dick Clark

Reege is an absolute original and no one will ever be able to take his place. I’m so delighted that for 15 wonderful years my place was with him. Congratulations Reege! I’m so proud of you. - Love, Kathie Lee

Regis, I was a big fan of yours before I ever got into television, but when I started DR. PHIL and discovered what it takes to put on a daily talk show, I became an even bigger fan. You make a hard job look so easy and natural!! Congratulations on the Lifetime Achievement Award. There is no one more deserving than you my friend. - Dr. Phil McGraw

Regis, I love that you read the newspapers to me every morning...and then we get out of bed and you go read them to the rest of the country. Congratulations on your lifetime achievement award. You deserve it. – Ellen DeGeneres

No one—I repeat no one—deserves this more. Regis should be declared a national treasure, and I adore him. (Now what’s he going to say when I get an award like this?)” - Larry King
