FRENCH POLYNESIA ITINERARY

TA H I T I DAY 1

TA H I T I Waterfall-laden, shadowy mountains, beautiful black sand beaches and a distinctly Polynesian buzz make Tahiti a gem in its own right. Whilst exploring the lively backstreets and strolling the waterfront of the pint-sized capital, Papeete is a must, it’s the outdoor action and cultural offerings that persuade visitors to extend their stay. Explore the mystical, mountainous interior on a 4WD tour, learn to dive in the translucent lagoon, wander through jaw-dropping archaeological sites, hike across the fecund interior and from July to October go whalewatching.

MO’OREA DAY 2

MO’OREA Mo’orea is so beautiful you’ll be rubbing your eyes at your first glimpse of it from Tahiti. That turquoise lagoon that you were sure was Photoshopped in the brochure? It’s better in real life. The big draw is the crystal-clear, warm water of the vibrant lagoon. Frolic with rays and sharks, snorkel or dive through schools of fish in translucent waters, savour the brilliant sunsets and just relax. If you need more action learn to kitesurf, take a hike, go on a whale or dolphin-watching tour, hire a bike or a kayak or go horse riding.

For tourists, the main draw is the string of overwater bungalows to the north of the island where the silhouette of Bora Bora sits so close you could almost believe you were in the high-rolling neighbour’s lagoon.
