n behalf of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown and its Designer House Committee, I want to welcome you to Foxwood Manor, the 41st Bucks County Designer House & Gardens. As you tour the property, we hope that you are stirred by the creativity and ingenuity of the very gifted team of designers, landscapers and artists who participated in this year’s event. Our hope is that every visitor is inspired to bring something they see at the Designer House into their home - whether it’s a do-it-yourself project or a new relationship with one of the 2016 Design Team members. Throughout the tour, guides will mention highlights of each area including special materials and techniques; design challenges that have been overcome and unique furniture or décor. We hope you enjoy your time here and invite you to explore the home, gardens, boutiques and café. The Designer House is an incredible collaboration between our organization, designers, landscapers, artists, sponsors, advertisers, donors, area businesses, local organizations, volunteers and the greater Central Bucks County community who make it possible. We are most thankful to the Tomlinson family for opening this expansive property to us for several months before it becomes their new home. The committee and I want to express our deep admiration and respect to the 2016 Design Team for their boundless creativity, time and friendship. We are grateful for the donations of products and materials from national and local businesses that offset the tremendous expense borne by this talented team. We also want to thank the many businesses who partner with us to provide fun and delectable events such as the Empty House Party and Preview Gala. The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens is a year-long process beginning with a summertime search for the next Designer House and ending with tours during the month of May. Throughout this time, the Designer House committee spends thousands of hours in planning and preparation. My thanks go out to them and their families for the gift of time. Likewise, thanks to the many community volunteers who staff the house throughout May who sell tickets, manage the house, guide visitors, and work in the café, and even water the plants. The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens is primarily a fundraiser. We have tremendous gratitude for the Cowhey Family ShopRite of Warminster and Pharmacy at Doylestown Health for choosing to be Honorary Chair for the second year in a row. Many thanks to all of our sponsors, advertisers, and donors; our boutique owners for their very generous support and all of our guests who attended an event or purchased a tour ticket. n behalf of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA) it is my pleasure to welcome you to our 41st Bucks County Designer House & Gardens event. This year’s showplace, Foxwood Manor, is sure to offer a wonderful experience to all of our visitors. The VIA especially wishes to thank the Tomlinsons, who own Foxwood Manor, for the use of this magnificent property. The Bucks County Designer House and Gardens is the VIA’s largest fundraiser. This year our organization will be giving proceeds to the Richard A. Reif Heart Institute at Doylestown Hospital. In addition, to honor our mission to support and enhance the quality of life in Central Bucks County, the remaining funds are used to support other VIA initiatives: aid for those needy in our community, scholarships to women dedicated to improving their lives through education, and one-time grants to individuals and/or associations that provide an unmet community need. Funds also support preservation of our headquarters, the historic James-Lorah Memorial Home, located at 132 North Main Street in the Borough of Doylestown. This Federal–style building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and serves as the nucleus for VIA activities. The VIA applauds the 80-plus members of the Designer House Committee who, under the leadership of Chairman Joy Levy and Vice-Chair Barbara Ann Price, have worked tirelessly to make this project another amazing success. Special thanks to the over 40 interior and landscape designers for their support and hard work in transforming the many rooms and gardens of Foxwood Manor into the delightful spaces you will see and fall in love with. Thank you also to the hundreds of volunteers, benefactors, patrons and sponsors for their continued support year after year. When you purchase house tour tickets, attend an event, shop in our boutiques, enjoy our Café or purchase items from the designers, you are helping us to support our community.
