The TECHNOPARK®-Alliance Since 2002 the TECHNOPARK®-Alliance has established itself as an effective tool for technology transfer. It supports the enterprises that make it up, all active in the areas of innovation, transfer and production. The TECHNOPARK®-Alliance creates an environment for the transfer of know-how from the scientific to the business word, thereby generating innovations in the market. A visible consequence is the creation of new jobs, which strengthen the cycle of national economy. The TECHNOPARK®-Alliance acts as an important interface between players in the areas of science, technology and business and is a contact point for technology-oriented and innovative new companies.

Targets The TECHNOPARK®-Alliance Forum presents business models of technology transfer that have proved successful on the international level. In this regard, the following are our major targets: I Planning and realisation of technology transfer in Finland, Israel, Switzerland and the USA I Embedding technology transfer into the existing political setup and presentation of supporting measures I Showing which entities are of primary importance and how these interact I Presentation of various strategies for success I Presentation of concrete successful practices I Lessons learned

Speakers Yigal Erlich is the founding father of the Israeli venture capital industry. In 1992, he convinced the Israeli government to allocate $ 100 million for his venture capital vision. He is the founder of the Israel Venture Association and served as its Chairman until 2002. Yigal Erlich is a member of the National R&D Council of Israel. Between 1984 and 1992, he was the Chief Scientist of Israel’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. Yigal Erlich started the Technology Incubator Program that led to the creation of 24 Incubation Centers throughout Israel. He was instrumental in the establishment of several bi-national industrial and technology R&D cooperation agreements. Yigal Erlich holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry and an MBA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Eero Holstila is director of the Office of Economic Development of the City of Helsinki. He previously worked as director of the Helsinki Information Office (City of Helsinki Urban Facts) and Managing Director of Culminatum Ltd Oy, the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Development Agency. Eero Holstila holds a M.Sc. in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki and is an expert in urban research, statistics and development. Eero Holstila has a broad experience in the field of Technology transfer and his engagements range from the Finnish Technolpolicy Network (Member of the Advisory Board) and the Finnish Science Park Association (Member of the Board) to the National Committee on Urban Policy and the International Advisory Board of the City of Rotterdam. Dr. Massimo Lattmann has over twenty years of senior management experience in the high-tech business. After a career in industry, he successfully founded and guided the international expansion of several companies. Prior to founding Venture Partners, he has been active as an independent investor and venture capitalist. Dr. Lattmann is a board member of several companies and institutions. He is the Chairman of the Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association (SECA) and lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ). Dr. Lattmann holds a M.S. degree in chemical engineering and Ph. D. in computer science from the ETH Zurich and is a graduate of the IMD Senior Executive Program.

Dr. Rajeev Narayan is the Associate Director of the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science at NC State University, North Carolina. Mr. Narayan specializes in the commercialization of technology and technology-based economic development programs. He serves as an executive-in-residence and special advisor to the High Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (HiTEC) Program at NC State University. He is also involved with research regarding technology-based business creation and the role of universities and governments in facilitating technology-based economic development. Mr. Narayan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School, a Master of Science in Management from NC State University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law. He holds an associate faculty appointment in the College of Management at NC State University. Dr. Thomas von Waldkirch studied Experimental Solid State Physics at ETH Zurich, worked at IBM Zurich Research Laboratory and gained a PhD from the University of Zurich. After his career at IBM Switzerland he became head of the President's Office for Research at ETH Zurich in 1975 and initiated the «TECHNOPARK® Zürich» as a technology transfer and innovation centre / incubator in strategic partnership with ETH Zurich: from 1991 – 2004 he was director of the Foundation TECHNOPARK® Zürich, since 2004 he is the president of the Foundation. Thomas von Waldkirch is co-initiator of SwissParks.ch (Association of Swiss technology parks and business incubators), of the TECHNOPARK®-Alliance and initiator and first chairman of the Association of Swiss Business Angels Networks (ASBAN). Since 1990 he is lecturer on Technology Transfer at ETH Zurich.
