Forum ABBA Weekend 2016 If you visited our big celebration weekend in Stockholm recently, what did you like best? Do you think something was missing or something could have been done better? When it comes to further Fan Club Weekends, would you prefer them to take place in Roosendaal or Stockholm, and why? Is there anything else you would like to comment on? If you did not join us in Stockholm but came to Roosendaal in the past, what was your main reason for skipping this year's event?

It was my first trip to a Fan Weekend and I found that everything was well organised and I enjoyed the whole weekend. I particularly liked the Fans/Friends Day at ABBA The Museum especially the Talks and Q and A Sessions, Benny's Arrival a highlight. The venues were excellent and the weekend was crammed with activities for all. I have never been to Roosendaal so I cannot comment on those weekends but it was Stockholm and Mamma Mia The Party that attracted me to attend this gathering. For me Stockholm is ABBA and around every corner is an ABBA related place as the walk and boat trip proved. Just an idea if we have a Fan Weekend in Stockholm again. Mono Music is now a place for ABBA fans to see especially as a meeting with Benny is a possibility. How great it would be if he would let groups have a peek inside the building to see the rooms we have seen in so many images and tv interviews lately...........I Have A Dream. Finally a big Thank You to Helga, Anita and all concerned. A weekend like that doesn't organise and run itself so a massive Thank You for all you do. Mike New, UK

All was so well organised, thank you very much, I really liked the visit of the Museum and the fact we could come go as much as we wanted. The disco was great too. Of course it would be nice to celebrate it again to Stockholm in the future but I think it is also very nice to do it in Roosendaal, I know some fans can afford travelling to Sweden. Thank you very much to you Helga and Anita for such a wonderful week David Legrand, Belgium

I came to Stockholm and loved it. I’ve been to all but one of the last 17 events (I missed One More Time in 2001 and swore I’d never again miss it). I at first wondered why the event was in Roosendaal instead of Stockholm, or at least a more tourist friendly city like Amsterdam, but realised very quickly what was special about having it in a more ‘out of the way’ place: it is easier for us to be ourselves. The venue for the Saturday disco was my favourite: great views, lots of room, not boiling hot, no worries about disturbing neighbours, more choice for drinks. I also liked the convenience of the Pop House Hotel to the events.

The most noticeable disappointment was the Friday night party where they could not play the music loud for us to dance. We need to find a more private venue where the events can last past midnight. Perhaps the native Stockholmers can help find this. The Saturday afternoon was fantastic (particularly Görel and Benny), but I missed Alex’s video recaps of the year’s events and anniversary tributes. Perhaps the Pop House needs some large conference rooms where these things can happen away from the general public. Or perhaps we have the ‘day’ at Rival, which has meeting rooms and a theatre. I also wonder if The Museum itself will continue to be a major draw if it does not have numerous new things each time we come. The Pop House hotel rooms themselves were a bit of a misfire (eg, soppy shower floors, no drawers for storage, toilet roll holders out of reach of the toilet). I think there needs to be a mix, perhaps every other year in Stockholm, or even just once every 5 years in Stockholm. It might also help if the Stockholm fan day coincided with an ABBA related event such as a BAO concert, premiere of a B+B show, or a charity event. Stockholm is MUCH more expensive than Roosendaal, or even Amsterdam. Drinks and hotels especially were pricey, and I worry this would limit numbers in ‘off’ years (those that aren’t 5 year anniversaries for the fan club). However, it is the ABBA ‘holy land’ and draws a different crowd. It was more than a bit stressful to have to worry about whether I had bought the right tickets for the right things. It might be preferable to sell packages that include all the events. Jason Swan, UK

Hi Helga! Reference your request for feedback on our 30th Anniversary Day. I thought the whole weekend was amazing, informative and great fun. It was very easy to mix with folk from all over the world, everyone was friendly and willing to mix together. I actually connected up with people I had spoken to on the abba internet sites but had never met and now we are staying in touch. The talks were interesting and relevant, the choir was stunning and highly entertaining. The choir was outstanding I really loved their segment. I personally would return to Stockholm if another event was planned, I think having the museum as a base is the perfect area, plenty of places to enable fans to mix together. We could also use Stockholm as a city break, direct flights and a good range of hotels. With reference to improvements or changes, my thoughts were mainly about the Pop House being very expensive, we felt that as you were bringing so much business in, they could have given us a little discount on food and drinks. In the Glass house a few chairs would have been welcome as you get older, standing for a while is a strain on your back. The bar area got very congested and a little more seating would be welcome. But an excellent event Helga, well done on all your hard work. PS The disco on Saturday was the best I have ever been too...perfect! Trisha Millman, U.K.

ABBA Weekend 2016 in Stockholm was absolutely incredible and fantastic. Big Thank you to Helga, Anita, Ingmarie, Görel, Benny, Mia, ABBA The choir, Carl Magnus Palm and all the fans, friends…without you I couldn´t have spent wonderful time. I think everybody enjoyed their time at the museum, with great events – meeting with Ingmarie, Görel, Benny! One of the best moments was when Benny played piano and fans and friends sang „Thank you for

the music“ . The Museum has lots of items and memorabilia to see. The most beautiful places at the museum for me are Viggsö Cottage, Arrival section and „corner“ Sllipping through my Finger - Great to see „Agnetha´s and Björn´s home“ with the look out of the window as Linda leaves home. Sadly, I miss a bigger section for Frida´s and Agnetha´s solo career. Mamma Mia! section is well done! I have never been to Roosendaal for ABBA day, I think Stockholm is great place for this kind of events and meeting fans. (even if this can be more expensive) . I hope I will join ABBA Day as soon as possible! Hej och Tack sa mycket! Jirí Prikryl, Czech Republic

I think the most exciting time was the Q&A with Mia, Gorel and Benny - many of us don't have/haven't had that opportunity. In a future event, I think this could last longer, if they don't mind! It was fantastic that the weekend was centred around the Museum with all events being local and convenient, with some free time as well as the organised events. My only disappointment was the Boat Trip. Essentially we just sailed around the inner lake for an hour and learned very little that couldn't have been achieve in a hotel bar. I was expecting a longer and more interesting trip. I think a longer trip to see more important places, like Ekerö, the island where the cottage is etc.... Stockholm as there are so many Abba connections and possibilities for different special events with the Abba inner circle. For me, selfishly, I have friends there too! One such event, which might be too hard to arrange but hey ho, would be a tour of Mono music studios. Maybe you could have a competition for 50 winners! I also wonder whether there could be an opportunity to listen to and isolate more of Abba's multi-tracks, like the game in the museum - that covers a short burst of Money money money and Super Trouper. You all did an amazing job and there's nothing really that I would change looking back on the weekend. One suggestion: name badges, maybe with a Mark Horne, U.K.

First of all, a big thank you and bravo for the wonderful ABBA week-end in Stockholm. Your organisation was perfect and I can realise how much work it and stress it meant for you. So once again : BRAVO! I really enjoyed everything that happened during those 3 days. The choir was fantastic, the venue for the disco was magic, it could not have been better. I also enjoyed Mamma Mia the party and trust it will be very successful in the long run. Great entertainment that's for sure. I'm not sure I did get everything of the plot, but the musical numbers were very enjoyable. My remark for the week-end : it would have been nice to get a notice that Benny was to visit us. Maybe by using the Facebook tool if it was decided at the last moment. I was just absent a short while, and Benny came. Too bad I missed him. For me it was not dramatic, having seen Benny last September for Kristina, but for some others it may have been a big disappointment. Otherwise, no critic, everything perfect. I enjoyed Stockholm a lot, and I would not mind getting there again for another abba fanclub weekend. But I like Roosendael as well, maybe Stockholm every second year, why not? Bernard Deman, Belgium

The ABBA weekend in Stockholm was fantastic. For me, it is was the perfect excuse to visit Stockholm and ABBA The Museum for the first time. The fact that it was the ABBA Fanclub weekend plus a city trip combined, made this edition extra attractive to me. I love the fact that we could pick and match the events. did all except Mamma Mia The Party. The quiz night was fun but the presenters weren't always audible. The Museum was also great, especially since you could go in and out, have a drink or something to eat at the Pop House and re-join the events. Obviously, Benny's surprise appearance was amazing. I absolutely loved the location for the disco at Solliden. Great venue in a beautiful ABBArelated spot. But it would have been nice if there had been a vegetarian snack, not just hotdogs. Otherwise: perfect. The boattour was very enjoyable, too, and our guide was entertaining to listen to. For me, Roosendaal is more convenient for future fan weekends, because I live in The Netherlands, but Stockholm as a setting wins hands-down. Perhaps you could alternate? Matthieu Griffioen, The Netherlands

The best part of the ABBA Weekend was undoubtedly the visit of Mr. Music himself! :) Seeing Benny was a huge thing for me and it will forever be remembered. Another amazing thing was to meet all the other ABBA fans from around the world! That was also huge, although I didn't manage to meet them all this time... As this was my first Fan Club Weekend ever I don´t really feel there was anything missing, it was a thrilling experience! Since I come from Oslo it will be convenient to have future events like this in Stockholm seen from a distance point of view. On the other hand I am pretty sure Roosendaal would be a great experience too. Stockholm and ABBA The Museum might be a more "proper" place for such an event though - understand me correctly. And, I doubt Benny would have showed up in Roosendaal... Vidar Nilsen, Norway

The ABBA celebrations in Stockholm were the best. Being so close to where the ABBA magic started gives plenty of possibilities (museum, boat tour, city walk etc) that Roosendaal can't offer. However, a visit to the Museum now still is something extraordinary. If we go there every year, I'm afraid it will not be as special anymore. Besides that, many members from Germany, Belgium and France travel to Roosendaal by car, which is more difficult to Stockholm. So I suggest: keep the fan weekend in Roosendaal, but for special occasions, anniversaries or new additions to the museum collection, we celebrate in Stockholm. Franklin van Liempt, The Netherlands

we would like to thank you for the great organization. The ABBA-Weekend in Stockholm was wonderful and will remain to us forever in recollection. We live in Germany. A journey with the car to Roosendaal is substantielly more favorable for us, than a flight to Stockholm. In this respect wie prefere Roosendaal. However, we can imagine very well that the ABBA-Weekend take place all five years to Stockholm. Marion and Michael Schneider, Germany

Corinne Maaten, The Netherlands

I prefer Roosendaal. Stockholm is too expensive in every aspect of traveling, staying in hotel, eating and doin' party. Manuel Langeheinecke, Germany

Thanks for your mail. Indeed I have something to say to the Fan Day in Stockholm.... I had a lot of doubts coming to Stockholm but as it was the 30th Anniversary of the ABBF Fanclub and that was a very good reason to to come again to the museum. I enjoyed all the Abba Fans coming to Sweden - the atmosphere was FANtastic :-). I loved also the Foto Session on Friday, Görel's Interview, Benny's singing lesson and the incredible evening at 'Mamma Mia - The Party'. These were the absolutely topics for me - but without that Anniversary it wouldn't have been so great. I was very often in Roosendaal - unfortunately not to the disco - but I would always prefer to go there instead of a Friends Day at the Museum. The atmosphere in Roosendaal is much more familar as it ever could be in Stockholm. Don't get me wrong - I love the Museum...but for a Fanday it's just a public place, very commercial and very expensive. Of course at Roosendaal you can buy also items but mostly from Fans and when I buy something from the Fanclub I support them. That's ok :-). I'm pretty sure the Fanday wouldn't work in Stockholm... Angie Stoldt, Germany

I only went to the Abba-disco and that was great! I only have one suggestion. If you decide to have the Abba-weekend again in Stockholm, I think you should have it in May. The weather is a lot nicer then! Nils Andersson, Sweden

I wanted to join the fanclub weekend so badly but in the end none of my German ABBA friends could go, mostly for money reasons. We all know that a trip to Stockholm for a few days is quite expensive, including the flight, hotel etc. My personal highlight at the fanclub days always was and always will be the ABBA market ! As this was missing this year I was really also dissappointed.I really had hoped for many Scandinavian fans to sell parts of their collections and for me to find one or the other rarity. That´s why I want the fanclub days in the future to be held in Roo as I always loved the town, the place where it was held and the whole athmosphere...please let it take place in Roo next year again ! Frank Seidenspinner, Germany

Many thanks to you and Anita for arranging the ABBA weekend in Stockholm. I thoroughly enjoyed it and met lots of friends old and new. it was great to be the first into the museum to try the new 'hologram' feature...even if I was a bit self conscious. What a lovely surprise that Benny joined us too!

I have only been to one fan day in Holland which I also enjoyed but my vote would go to further events being held in Sweden. I travel regularly to Sweden so to combine one of the visits each year with the ABBA weekend would be brill. I was delighted with the goody bag. though would have liked the poster of the group in front of stadshuset but understand why it was arrival or DQ. To have been able to get the tickets online beforehand would have been better as it was a source of discussion and confusion. It was also a pity Djurgården ferry was on strike. Thanks again for all your hard work to make it a brilliant time. Jane Dickman, U.K.

I liked the museum and the disco. I liked the fact that everything was in walking distance from the hotel. Mamma Mia the Party was a lot of fun. It would have been nice to have a dealers room and a place where you could watch old (and new) Roosendaal for sure. Although Stockholm is a nice change, the event belongs in Roosendaal (or at least the Netherlands). There is more to do in Amsterdam, and it is easier to get to than Stockholm by international flight. What was nice, though abut Stockholm, was we saw a lot of Swedish fans who I never saw in Roosendaal. Also, I think Roosendaal would be easier to administer than Stockholm. Ron Miskoff, USA

The fanclub weekend was great, I really had a good time. Since I had been to the museum many times before it was nice to see the new photo exhibition. Also Loved Benny on stage answering questions, it was such a great surprise to see him during this weekend. I think that in the future I would not attend a Fanclub weekend in Stockholm every year... I’ve been going to Roosendaal for over 20 years now and not even one year was the same as an other. Each year you’ll find something ‘new’ at one of the stalls selling memorabilia/collectables/vinyl etc. Another thing is...Stockholm is a rather expensive place to stay, so not affordable for everybody every year. Bonny van den Dobbelsteen, The Netherlands

I like very much all museum, but expecially ABBA dolls. The only thing was missing was ABBA all together :). Really good organization from you. This is my second ABBADAY, and I would prefer to take place in Stockholm to see also ABBA related places like Agnetha's house, Skansen and Rival :). See you soon. Obviously I will go again for 35th of the fan club, but I hope to come back before of 2021. Enrico Cadioli, Italy

We had a great weekend! For John (Abba trivia enthusiast), Carl Magnus Palm's presentation was a highlight, and for Gill (dancer before she could walk) it was all the disco opportunities. But even those can't compete with Benny's visit. What a class act! What was missing was a way for people who couldn't book in advance to queue for, and get, late tickets at Mamma Mia The Party (to fill for no-shows). We were really lucky because we had one ticket between the two of us and once I was inside and could talk to the maitre d', all was resolved and Gill got a drop-in ticket. But there were other fans outside too and there were empty seats at The Party. I know this is not to do with the fan club, but something that could be passed on maybe? Not been to Roosendaal yet, so can't compare, but going to Stockholm was special, for sure. It was a fantastically-well organised weekend. As well as you, Helga and Anita, we did meet the person at the museum who coordinated the project for them, but I've forgotten her name. Ingmarie was great too, and lovely to hear Gorel (who graciously let herself be upstaged --I'd guess not for the first time!). Great job everyone and kudos to you all! John (and Gill) Robinson, U.K.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for providing us this unbeatable weekend full of ABBA related tours, the museum, dances, dinner and the cream of the crop, Benny’s short visit including the piano highlight! As for me, Roosendaal should stay the venue for the regular annual meeting, but what about every fifth (little) anniversary in Stockholm with showing up at least one ABBA member? Maybe this is not only my opinion. And what do you, my dear ABBA members, think of my proposal?!? (It would be such a pleasure for me to also meet Agnetha and Frida once in my life...) Achim Schuster, Germany

The location. What location would be more suitable for an ABBA Weekend? Benny paying a surprise visit was the icing on the cake. Hopefully, we can look forward to similar surprise visits by Björn, Agnetha and Frida in the future. Do you think something was missing or something could have been done better? Chairs in front of the stage. An afordable meal for us (10 to 15 euro) at the Pop House restaurant (fish'n chips, Swedish meatballs etc.) The ABBA disco at the Pop House restaurant and the dancefloor at the glass house instead of Solliden? When it comes to further Fan Club Weekends, would you prefer them to take place in Roosendaal or Stockholm, and why? Stockholm of course!! Stockholm is a wonderful city with lots of other things you can do during the weekend like (vintage) shopping, museums, restaurants. The ABBA weekend belongs in Stockholm at the ABBA The Museum. We ABBA fans can inspire the people behind the museum into adding new attractions and exhibitions. The ABBA Musum in Stockholm is the closest we can get to ABBA.

Trijnie Dijkema, The Netherlands

Fist of all my compliments for you and Anita voor de great organization in Stockholm. We have enjoyed it greatly. Shame for the rainy weather on the ABBA Boat tour but the guide was a wonderufl storyteller so that made up for it. I live in Utrecht myself so my preference is for Roozendaal. It is much closer, also from Germany, Belgium, France etc, you can drive by car and it is much cheaper this way. On top of that I missed the ABBA market. As a serious collector I always am looking forward to that. Maybe there is some room in the museum for that as well? On the other hand Stockholm is a wonderful city, and the museum is a great place. But to visit it each year would be too much, too expensive and the museum is too small to have major changes and improvements every year. In fact after three years to me it was even a little disappointing... Once every couple of years is enhough for us. So a major anniversary every 5 years for the fanclub and then celebrating in Stokholm the way we did, would be best for me. This way I think I will even be more looking forward to it than an event in Stockholm every year. It has to feel like a special treat! Gert-Jan van Stein, The Netherlands

Heleen Maas, The Netherlands

The ABBA’s weekend at Stockholm was extraordinary. Thanks to the journey organised at the Museum and at Mamma Mia The Party, it was worth it to be there! But ABBAday it’s also a bargain for ABBA items, and for that Stockholm isn’t a good place. ABBAday has to carry on at Roosendaal, among us the fans, and every 5 years for the anniversary, for example, it would be nice to be welcome at Stockholm. This trip it’s quite expensive, and this will allow more people to attend. Erik Liebstaedter, Morocco

the fact that that were special guests esp Benny Do you think something was missing or something could have been done better?

wouldn’t it be nice next time to organize a trip by bus throughout Stockholm and visit several places? Or have a lunch all together? When it comes to further Fan Club Weekends, would you prefer them to take place in Roosendaal or Stockholm, and why? Stockholm makes it feel really special, but Roosendaal is OKAY. Mike Aarts, The Netherlands

I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever visit to Stockholm. Seeing the actual ABBA MUSEUM & the Swedish Music section was my best personal experience of the weekend - I was interested to compare the MUSEUM to the previous ABBA WORLD in London, and overall, I thought that very good use had been made of the available space. The Swedish Music section I absolutely adored, and did not have as much time to stay there as I would have liked. So I will need to go back again, at some point, to see that better. Regarding location preference for a Fan Club Weekend, however, my choice must continue to be Roosendaal. I missed the 'homeliness' feeling that we have when we all arrive in a smaller, friendly place, I missed so many friends who could not travel to Stockholm, I missed the Rottier with its great atmosphere for both the day-time market stalls and the evening event. And I missed the cosy pub feeling that we have at De Moriaan on both the Friday night and at the Saturday informal 'after-party', where the staff have grown to love us and to join in with our fun. Maybe some of my feelings are due to the fact that I had to miss the 2015 event for other reasons; but I would feel very sad if there was a permanent move of Fan Club Weekends to Stockholm exclusively. Gary Collins, U.K.

I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend in Stockholm, the highlight ofcourse being Benny playing Thank You as we sang along! My favourite part was the fabulous choir who were outstanding, and ofcourse Benny was the icing on the cake . My favourite part of the museum is the costumes as they make me feel close to Abba. Just knowing Abba wore these very clothes is a wonderful experience . As for future ABBA weekends , I say Roosendaal as I love the market stalls there where you can find these rare items from Abba’s heyday .Also , it is far cheaper to travel to and stay in Roosendaal. Stockholm is expensive so I’d say only hold the weekend there for special occasions . Terry Malloy, U.K.

Frank de Ruijter, The Netherlands

First of all, I want to congratulate the fanclub for all its efforts. I appreciated the beautiful costume room, the studio, the instruments. It was also fun doing the karaoke despite my initial doubts. There is so much to do in the museum, I certainly did not hear all the interviews. What I like less is the introduction video with too much noise and one spelling mistake that I told the museum people about in their enquiry. I also regret the ticket payments via internet because it proved difficult for various reasons. It took some dealings with the bank to succeed. But I am nevertheless grateful for having the opportunity of getting a VIP ticket for me and my sister. It was nice to see Carl Magnus Palm but above all, it was nice to see Benny. It was the first time I saw an Abba member. The venue in Skansen was nice but hard to find. I would prefer the weekends to take place in Roosendaal because of the cost of living. Perhaps one good compromise would be to have a Stockholm celebration every five year. But I don't think most people would be able to do this in Stockholm every year. And many people have got a genuine fondness for Roosendaal. I also hesitated going to Stockholm because it was more money and more travelling. But I love Stockholm and took the chance to visit the city as well. Pascale Ranson, France

I didn't come to Stockholm because i don't like to fly. Airports and planes are not the places i feel best in. Stockholm is of course so much more expensive than a weekend at roosendaal. Netherlands is better situated, more reachable for most of fans i think. And the weather might be sweeter ! Moreover, you have got to book in advance the flights and the special events if you want to spend nicely the moment. It became more complicated (like the world we're living in!) I really prefer simple things. You don't need to go to the other side of europe to have a party. Of course i will come to the museum again (certainly by car and stopping at jonkoping as well) but this without a crowd ! Opening the museum (and coming by train!) 3 years ago remains a really strong memory to me. It almost feels like yesterday and so i don't feel the need to go back there every year. It's so much more interesting to be back after a good while with a lot of (we hope) new things in it. So please let the music speak in roosendaal while the pleasure still goes on. David Trivellato, france

“As a new recruit to the Abba fan club ‘family’ I didn’t know what to expect at the weekend. But, wow, you really delivered! I loved being a VIP and your generous goodie bag was a real treat. The Abba Choir sang so sweetly and with such enthusiasm and joy – they are a truly talented group. The talks were entertaining and enlightening and it was great to be able to visit the Museum and see the new exhibits.

But of course the highlight has to be Benny’s surprise appearance! I’d hoped one of the group would come along and the moment he walked up on stage was wonderful. He clearly loves the fan club and appreciates the fans. Then to sing along while he played piano – well, though a week has passed since it happened I am still smiling! I really liked the relaxed, informal approach of the whole event – which I know took a lot of hard work. You should be proud of what you achieved. I know you made a lot of people very happy. Did I love my first Abba fan club experience? As Ingmarie said “is there a moose in the forest?” – you bet I did. Gill Harrison, U.K.

I want to thank you and Anita from deep of my heart fot that lovely time and experience. I imagine how much work you put to organize everything. Really, really great job!!! Congratulations. I'm more than happy I could ask Benny for any memories of being in Poland and I have tears in my eyes when he had spoke one of the most difficult sentences in polish language "Chrzaszcz brzmi w trzcinie". It was absolutely amazing. And seeing him playin the piano and singing "Thank You For The Music" along it was extremly moving. I also want to share a few pictures with most important persons through all the event. If it could be useful you can use it in any way. I'm happy I haugatand also visited many places in Stockholm connected with Abba like "People Need Love" rain shelter, the house from "Elva kvinnor" at Bastugatan, Rival Hotel, the autumn and the bench trees. I even managed to get inside the Kronberg atelier to have a private "The Visitors" photo session. Fabiulous! I send my pictures in 3 parts. Enjoy and best greetings. Piotr Krainski, Poland

"The ABBA Weekend 2016 in Stockholm was my first time attending such a gathering. My favourite thing about the weekend was seeing old friends who I originally met in the UK, and making lots of new friends from all across the world! I came by myself to Stockholm and everyone was so warm and welcoming. Singing along to Benny’s piano accompaniment was, of course, a particularly special moment too. I very much enjoyed Mamma Mia! The Party too. Although I enjoyed spending time in Stockholm, I would prefer Fan Weekends to be in Roosendaal, as I think this is cheaper and more convenient for me and more suitable to a student budget! I very much look forward already to my first Fan Weekend in Roosendaal in 2017 – see you all there! There is something very special about the ABBA Fan Club and it is a joy and honour to be part of such a community. Happy 30th birthday to the Fan Club! Shan Ranasinghe, UK

I hugely enjoyed the ABBA weekend, esp as it was in Stockholm this year. All the events were great but I specially have to mention Mamma Mia which was so much fun. It’s always to meet so many people from all of the world, old friends and new friends. A big thank you to Helga and Anita for organizing this great event. If I had to choose I think I prefer Stockholm above Roosendaal, but that’s mainly because I think Stockholm is such a beautiful city. Marco Dirven, The Netherlands

IT was a great weekend for uns and I thank you for everthing and all the work you have done for uns. I also missed Roosendaal, I missed to bought something from other ABBA Fans, like in Roosendaal. A good combination between Roosendaal and Stockholm , that's a good thin. Oh my englisch, I hope you anderstand, what I mean. Helga, you und Anita are the best and I thank you for everthing you've done for uns. A big hug Barbara Steinkamp, Germany

It was my first time in ABBA The Weekend and in Stockholm ever. I am absolutely delighted with all what happened in ABBA The Museum. I have never attended previous ABBA Weekends in Roosendaal, but I think Stockholm is the best place and a natural environment for organising next weekends in the future (location in The Museum, many other places related to ABBA, easier to invite the persons important to ABBA and to meet ABBA Members themselves live!!!). What I liked the best:  meeting Benny!!!!!!! that was unbelievable and unforgotten experience,  ABBA Disco Celebration, I had not so much fun for ages,  meeting Goran, Mia and Magnus,  location of the event at ABBA The Museum. What was missing:  visiting Stig's grave, it is located very close to The Museum,  the other 3 ABBA Members (maybe next time),  visiting places related to ABBA, for example Kronberg's atelier. I hope to find in the next Magazine issue the poster containing Official Fan Photo 2016. Andrzej Konopko, Poland

What I liked best about the weekend was the surprise visit by Benny. Why I'm a fan is, of course, the music. And to share the music of ABBA with Benny was a unique and unforgettable event and a memory that will always be in my heart. I'm sure that if the weekend wasn't so well organized, he wouldn't have come. Another highlight is that it's heartwarming to share the love for ABBA with so many fans from all over the world! I think, although the guide was a very charming an enthusiastic lady who knew a lot about ABBA, the boat tour was a little dull: It seemed we were going in circles. I think I would prefer Stockholm, because Stockholm has a lot to offer for ABBA fans, great locations (the ABBA disco in Skansen was amazing overlooking Stockholm!) and the possibilty of meeting an ABBA member. I must add that for me personally of course Roosendaal is closer to home, so maybe every other year in Roosendaal, and the other in Stockholm. For Anita, Helga and all behind the scenen of the ABBA fanclub: Thank you for your everlasting enthusiasm, information and the magazine! Onno Conde Nieto, The Netherlands

Stockholm is a good place to have the ABBA weekend if not for the fact that it is an expensive city. Thus, I appreciate the Roosendaal venue even if its ABBA history may only have come when the Fan Club became based there. The various activity that we could join (walking tour, boat tour, disco, welcome night, afternoon discussions/question and answers with known ABBA personalities) were all good although there could have been more chairs and tables for the welcome night and the afternoon discussions. the walking tour could have been more extensive maybe two hours instead of one hour and if the weather permits maybe even a bike tour would be welcome. the same for the boat tour. A special discounted rate could have been given all the attendees in the ABBA shop in the museum. The photo session at the end could have been better organized i think and that copies of the pictures could be emailed to all those wishing to receive a copy. Jonas Santiago, Philippines I have to say, that as it was in Stockholm and at the Museum, it provided me some additional incentive to make the journey. As I had never been to a fan weekend previously and perhaps would not have attended this time if it was in Roosendaal. However, considering the opportunity to meet some great people and have 2 opportunities to dance for hours, I may well attend future events wherever they are. Being in Stockholm did allow Benny to attend. What a great bonus, a highlight for sure. Would Benny have come to Roosendaal? I also loved he chat with Gorel and Mia and could have listened for hours more. I felt it was too short but their time may have been limited, Again, would they have attended Roosendaal? MM The Party was a treat. After my initial disappointment of it bing in Swedish, I just went with the flow. Most of the MM party songs are not in the musical or movie (surprised!!) so that added some extra interest. But the disco following possibly outdid the show. Boat Tour was not a highlight for me. The Captain Strike affected locations, not sure how, and the weather didn’t help. I was on board with no one I knew. If in Stockholm again, a visit to the Kronberg house to view the Visitors art work should be on the agenda for future. ;) The Polar Studio segment at the Museum was an anti climax. Not sure of the purpose in the end. No mixing of the fan’s vocal which I assumed was going to happen. Does being in Stockholm make it more likely to have special guests? If so then Stockholm would be my choice. Saturday’s disco was also a treat. The location and venue were superb. Perhaps on the Sunday morning a walking tour of ABBA sites might have been good. Using Sara’s book. Starting earlier and leading up the Party would have filed a day. Just a thought. Mark Dare, Australia

My first visit to Stockholm was a 60th birthday present from my daughter. It was a double thrill to attend my first Fan Club Weekend. The agenda had a variety of activities. For those of us with limited mobility, it was nice to be able to choose what we wanted to participate in. The negative aspect that bothered me the most was how everyone pushed to the front of the stage just to hold up their smartphones and rudely disregarded the people's view behind them. It would have been much better if people were seated instead of standing and crushed like sardines. Then all could have seen the stage.

My favorite part was Benny's surprise visit. I had never seen him perform live and it was wonderful to sing along while he played. It would have been nice if he and the piano had been on stage so we could have seen him better. I would prefer Stockholm over Roosendaal because being bigger, Stockholm offers more handicapped accessible transportation, lodging and activities. Best of all, the ABBA Museum and Mamma Mia The Party are in Stockholm. Every fan would love return visits to both! Jamie Bodyfelt, United States of America

The ABBA-weekend in Stockholm was great, again I was overwhelmed about your really very good organization. Thanks a lot!!! Unfortunately I only was once in Roosendaal so far. To come to Stockholm this year wasn't a big question, I only needed to get holiday from work. It was a pleasure to come to your 30th anniversary with all these nice events. I missed - but only in the beginning, it was forgotten soon - only the basar. Thanks to ABBA I love Stockholm, I love Sweden, I became more and more interested in the country, the language, the music and nature. Today I don't come to Sweden only for ABBAs reason. I like to combine the culture with the nature on my holidays. So this time I staid over one week, I also visited the concert from Lena Philipsson ("Det gör ont") at the new Scandia Scenen at Cirkus and the Kings birthday-celebrations around the Castle as well as the Valborgsfire at Skansen. I like it very much to walk on Djurgarden, in Gamla Stan, on Södermalm with a very nice view over the city aso. At this special ABBA-weekend I escpecially liked the ABBA choir - they are really very very good - the presentation from Carl Magnus Palm, the interview with Görel and Mia and of course Bennys surprise. After he didn't accompany the ABBA choir on the piano, I didn't longer expect that he would come. Görel did it really very well and clever with the phone-call. I liked "Mamma Mia! The Party" again very much including the show after the show. It's really a great show with all these fantastic songs of course but also with all the acrobatics. To be honest I was a bit disappointed from the boat tour. But it has certainly to do with the strike that we couldn't go with the small boat through the Djurgardskanal. I haven't done this special boat tour before, but I already know all these places. But even it you would do all future ABBA-weekends in Stockholm, unfortunately I wouldn't be able to attend every year. There are so many things to do in your life and you need a lot of "Money Money Money". Petra Janke, Germany

Thank you so much for an absolutely fabulous ABBA weekend in Stockholm, last weekend! It was so well planned and organised, I truly enjoyed myself so much! :-) This was my very first visit to this annual event, and I know the same goes for my new friends from Norway e g, but I doubt it will be my last! I made a lot of new friends, so many nice and friendly people around. It would be nice to go Roosendaal one day, too, but for me it was a great eye-opener and easy-accessible having the event in Stockholm, so I appreciate that being Swedish! ;-) I'm so happy I decided to join The Fan Club and to take part in the event. It was brilliant to have it all on Djurgården (which I truly love), so close to it all, staying at The Pop House Hotel, the Quiz, having a whole day with activities at The Museum on Saturday - all the fabulous guests who were there and spoke to us, the ABBA boat tour on Sunday, visiting MM The Party On Sunday, and taking part in The Disco on Saturday! The Choir were amazing!!!

Having Benny turning up as our guest was the most unexpected and fabulous surprises ever, that was wow!!! The greatest moment ever, seeing the footage afterwards made me so moved...I was there, I was a part of it all, singing "Thank You For The Music" while Benny played the piano. Historical! It meant the world to us fans! Fantastic! Really pleased with it all! Thank you! Tusen tack!!! (please feel free to edit some of my text here, taken from my e-mail, haven't counted the words, sorry). My very best regards to you, take good care until next time I see you! Anna Rehn, Sweden

This year's ABBA week-end was up to the expectations of an anniversary celebration. I will keep these memories with the image of fireworks. Still, should I be able to chose, I'd prefer next year's Fan Club's week-end to be in Roosendaal. To start with, going to Roosendaal is not so difficult, financially and technically (Going to Stockholm suppose nearly two whole days of travelling, and therefore more days off work). Secondly, somehow, if Stockholm is ABBA's home, I feel that Roosendaal is definitely the Fan Club's real home where our meeting is like a family reunion. Now, if the Museum, MM The Party and the appearance of Görel, Mia, Ingmarie ...and Benny ! were truly something, I doubt we could live something so exciting every year. Going to the Museum the first time was reaalllly exciting but going there every year would obviously lose the magic and in my opinion, a new attraction like this year's new 3D karaoke was definitely not BIG enough to justify the trip. Now, for something that was definitely missing, I must mention the Fan-Club Shop, the fair with memorabilia, the video-show and the dias during the disco. All in all, I think Stockholm is the right place for every 5 years celebrations but the regular place for attending is and will remain for me : Roosendaal. Yvon Jouandon, France

Actually the ABBA Celebration Weekend in Stockholm 2016 was the best time of my life. Anyhow it´s always such a pleasure to visit this beautiful city, this time it was very special due to the program of the fanclub, what was really very good. I enjoyed everything very much ,especially to join the brilliant ABBA disco at the wonderful venue of Solliden. The absolute highlight was the finale of the “Mamma Mia! The Party” event, what causes so much happiness to me, I hardly can remember any similar situation in my life before. Regarding the future fandays, I still would prefere Roosendaal, because it´s traditional familiar and in my case, it is better to reach and a bit cheaper to travel and stay, too. But from time to time change the place for the venue and go to Stockholm again after a few years, would be a good idea. Thomas Rücker, Germany

Really loved the weekend in Stockholm, and it was more convenient for me as a Swede not having to get on a flight to the Netherlands. The Party was great, but expensive, and also followed by a great two hour ABBA disco. The disco venue at Solliden was great: more

space and not as hot as in Roosendaal. BUT: I fear that if the weekend will be held in Stockholm again next year we might lose the attendance of several of the continental fans. Roosendaal is in their comfort zone, possible to reach by train or car, and they might not be up for yet another trip to Stockholm. Also, compared to Stockholm, Roosendaal is quite a tiny city, where we all gather once a year to meet lots of friends, and besides the disco there's a great local pub where we have a great time after the official activities. So it’s a hard decision. Probably would prefer Roosendaal because I otherwise fear the loss of several of the regular guests and great friends. But providing that the Museum can offer something very very very very special, to attract the fans once again, I might vote for Stockholm. Tony Becker, Sweden

Thank you once again for not only a fantastic weekend in Stockholm, but also Anita's and your tireless efforts to work so hard for all of us for 30 years. I have nothing but gratitude and respect for everything you have done. The Fan Club weekend in Stockholm was one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done. Not only did I get to meet a lot of new friends but the special bond that connects us all was a feeling I will never forget. I thought the arrangements at the Pop House Hotel and ABBA The Museum were fautless. The number of events arranged, the content and the variety were all extremely enjoyable. The fact that Benny also came was something that none of us expected and made me feel that our love of their music was fully appreciated. What did I enjoy the most - well all of it, but highlights were the disco (beautiful location), and Mamma Mia The Party. The boat trip was nice but the narration was aimed at people who knew little about ABBA, so we were the wrong audience. Next year ? My vote has to go to Stockholm as you can combine so many things in the trip. I missed the trading tables, but I could fulfill my need at the museum shop and also at a couple of record shops in town. Would change anything ? No, not really. I am sure there would be other instersting people willing to come and give a talk and share part of their history of ABBA. Thanks again. I really had the time of my life. Neil Barber, Germany

(is natuurlijk best prijzig…) Hartelijke groet,Gijs Batenburg

As a lifelong ABBA fan from the US attending my very first ABBA Weekend, I must first say what an incredible experience it was to be in the company of so many friendly fans from all over the world in ABBA's own hometown. Many thanks go to Helga, Anita, and the Museum organizers for all their hard work. Besides seeing the fantastic Museum (3 times), my favorite activities were the ABBA Talks, the Walk, and the quiz. I stayed an extra 3 days, so it was great being able to not only see many (41!) ABBA-related places from Sara Russell's excellent guidebook, but also to explore the beautiful city of Stockholm. While I have never been to Roosendaal, I hope to go in the future, especially for the famous merchandise tables. Some ideas for the future: meet & greet with Talk participants and longer interviews, introduction of first-timers or sticker/badge, exclusive Museum access, screening of MM! or The Movie at the Rival, sign-up sheets for groups to visit ABBA sights in the city, restaurant recommendations, contact list of attendees (names/countries/emails), and videos at the disco. Thank you! Michael Polito, USA

The Stockholm event I enjoyed it and a big thank you to you all for organising it. But Stockholm is very expensive and this will put people off in the future.Roosendaal is a great place to hold the event. Its more fun and cheaper. Hope this helps. David Wildman, U.K.

Holding the future ABBA fanclub day in the Abba museum, would be the right decision. The location is perfect and Abba and their inner circle are nearby! However the Rosendaal location should be kept in our agenda once a year for an abba 2nd hand market, a double winner if you ask me. Frank Bogaert, Belgium

Annet Dijksterhuis, The Netherlands

I was eager to hear Gorel Hanser speak and having it in Stockholm was enough for me to check out the event for the first time. The other speakers livened it up as well. It did not surprise me at all that Benny showed up. I expected that one of the former members would, but I would not expect it every time if it were to continue to be held in Stockholm. I love both

Sweden and the Netherlands, but I've visited the Netherlands eleven times and Sweden four. Edge to Sweden. I don't know when I might return, but the weekend was quite a lot of fun. I have visited the museum five times over two visits during the past ten months, so I don't know how much more the museum can offer that I haven't already experienced, but future guest speakers and the choir might tempt me. There are certainly other things to explore in the city. I liked the glasshouse, but I would have liked the opportunity to sit down or at least stand on carpeting. Maybe it was the marathon that I ran earlier in the week, but I am the man with graying hair! lol Brian Harrifeld, USA

As a Canadian ABBA fan who attended his first fan-related event, I was more than satisfied with the city, the venue and the choice of things to do. However, I think the best thing about this weekend was all the people involved, which includes the fans, the presenters, special and surprise guests, and fan club staff. None of this would have been possible without the people who helped to put it together. That’s why I came here - to meet the fans who make up the club and the people who were giving presentations at the museum. Moreover, although the Official Fan Club is based in the Netherlands, I really feel that Stockholm would be the more ideal place to hold future events like this. First, we know that Sweden is where the group members grew up and were based. Second, the majority of their closest friends and people they have worked with recently or in the past live in Stockholm, so it feels more natural to invite them to ABBA events in their home country, at least to me. The only thing about this weekend that was sorely lacking was not enough time! Thank you again to everyone involved. Mike Flint, Canada

The Abba weekend was great. Stockholm is a very nice city, I liked the boat tour, Abba The Museum and Mamma Mia The Party very well. But I like the disco party in Roosendaal much better, because it's familiarity there. I had the feeling, that the service staff in Solliden Skansen was a little bit overwhelmed, because so many Abba-Fans. The tight schedule was very stressful, I did not like it so much. But I wanted take part everywhere and wanted not miss anything :-) I would prefer the Abba weekends in Roosendaal because Stockholm is too far away and too expensive in the long run and in Roosendaal it's much familiarity, that's my opinion. Or the Abba weekends can take place in Stockholm alternating, or every three years, or every five years, when jubilee is, maybe. I will never forget this beautyful time in Stockholm and would love to go back there someday. And to see Benny was a dream that became true :-)
