Giga can still be improved Strautmann has launched the multi-purpose forage wagon Tera-Vitesse CFS for those users who demand maximum performance combined with maximum loading capacity. This forage wagon also convinces with its continuous flow system which provides the wagon with low power requirement and a high throughput rate. Customers have gained very positive experience when using the unique Strautmann conveying unit consisting of pick-up, CFS drum, rotor and cutting unit under any conditions. This Strautmann system processes large, twisted swathes, swathes piling up as well as short, wet grass without any problems.

A unique feature of the Tera-Vitesse CFS is the frame design which gives the wagon a high level of stability and permits a high body width for maximum loading capacity. One characteristic of this design is the plastic floor which, due to its good gliding properties, ensures energy-saving charging and discharging. The highly weather-resistant floor guarantees a long service life. Due to the wide conveying unit with the pick-up with a width of 2,120 mm, the high-performance rotor with a width of 1,820 mm and the cutting unit with 50 knives, high efficiency and top cutting quality are achieved.

CFS – Charging under any conditions Strautmann forage wagons have a lower drag resistance than those of the competitors. „CFS“ still increases this advantage as our experience of recent years has shown. It is the continuous material flow, „Continuous Flow“, which makes the difference.

1. Low power required The newly developed pick-up and the „CFS drum“ disperse the swathe (spreading-out effect) and feed it over its total width to the rotor and the cutting unit. The rotor which is mounted by 100 mm higher conveys the pre-wilted green fodder through the correspondingly shortened conveyor duct into the cargo space thus saving energy and reducing the power requirement by approx. 10%.

4. Optimum adaptation to soil Due to the design of the CFS drum, the pick-up is in a very flat position, such that the pressure exerted on the roller feelers is very low which enables the pick-up to better adapt to the soil structure. Furthermore, the green fodder is continuously and gently picked up due to the V-shaped helical arrangement of the pick-up tines.

2. Optimum filling degree The material is loaded into the cargo space over its total width thus improving the filling degree. We measured 10% more weight per cubic metre several times. The tonnage is important, not the volume of the cargo space.

5. Protection of drives Due to the homogeneous and continuous flow of material, the CFS conveying unit runs very smoothly, such that there are hardly any peak loads. And if there are no peak loads, the complete drive unit will not „suffer“ thus ensuring a long service life of the conveying unit and therefore of the complete forage wagon.

3. High acreage performance A better filling degree also involves a higher acreage performance. The areas to be harvested can be cleared more quickly and the fodder is taken faster into the silo. After all, time is money.

6. Longer service life of knives Grinding of knives: Only if it‘s worth doing! The spreading-out effect ensures a more even load of the knives. „CFS“ allows considerably longer grinding intervals. Grinding all knives is worth doing if all knives are blunt. Grinding all knives if only the central knives were blunt? ... grinding only the central ones? ... interchanging the exterior and interior ones?

5

Pick-up With its six helically arranged tine rows, the uncontrolled pick-up with a pick-up width of 2.12 m ensures gentle picking-up of the material. Furthermore, the helical form makes sure that the green fodder is loosened, dispersed and fed to the CFS drum. For longer use in forage harvesting, the pick-up and the CFS drum can be removed for material protection. For better adaptation to the soil, additional roller feelers can be mounted behind the pickup as an optional extra. CFS drum Like the pick-up, the CFS drum mounted between the pick-up and the rotor ensures a spreading-out effect and thus equal feeding of the rotor and the cutting unit.

Pick-up, CFS drum drive The accelerator drum is powered via a lowmaintenance angular gear. The standard slip clutch is equipped with an overload protection. Thus, risk of damage to the conveying unit caused by foreign objects is reduced to a minimum. The pick-up is powered via the CFS drum by means of a reinforced ¾“ roller chain.

6

Always a perfect cut Rotor and cutting unit

The rotor is the heart of each short-cut forage wagon. It is the rotor which ensures the cutting quality, the delivery rate and the transport of the loaded material into the interior of the wagon and thus high efficiency at constant optimum cutting quality. The wagons of the Tera-Vitesse CFS series are equipped with 50 knives for a theoretical cutting length of 35 mm. High silage quality is reached by gentle charging and optimum cutting which results from a perfectly adjusted geometry between rotor, strippers and cutting unit. This saves costs already during harvesting. If the fodder is treated gently, harvesting requires less power - less diesel - less money!

Rotor drive The stressless powering via the drive shaft positioned in the middle of the drawbar pipe ensures a long service life of all drive components. The laterally attached, largescale gearbox with a rotor support of 110 mm Ø is completely maintenance-free thus ensuring optimum power transmission to the rotor.

Rotor The strong tines are attached helically in 8 tine rows. The tine plates made of Hardox steel armoured at the end are extremely low-wear and due to its width, they ensure easy, clean and exact cutting. The interaction of conveying tines and strippers guarantees maximum fodder protection and a high throughput rate. Advantages: - No mushy wet crops - High cutting quality - Easy, almost trouble-free transport into the wagon.

Strippers The strippers are also equipped with welded-on Hardox holders for a long service life. A large angle between rotor tines and strippers (> 90 °) prevents the fodder from being damaged and favours a low power requirement.

7

Cutting unit Exact and clean cut, special fodder protection, high power, low power requirement and easy handling with a long service life of the knives. These are the most important performance characteristics of the Strautmann cutting unit incorporated in the Tera-Vitesse CFS. 50 knives which can be used on both sides and are mounted at one level ensure exact cutting over 35 mm. Each knife can be easily turned over - thus doubling the grinding interval. If the knife tips wear out after several grinding procedures, the knife frame can be readjusted by means of upper links. The entire cutting unit can be hydraulically extended to its full extent in a quick and easy way to eliminate blockages. Competitor knife protection systems In knife protection systems that work by means of spring counter-pressure the triggering force in case of an obstacle occurring varies at each point of the knife. A foreign object hitting the knife at its bottom pushes itself along the edge up to the point where the force is great enough to trigger the protection mechanism thus causing damage to the complete knife edge.

Strautmann knife protection system In the unique Strautmann knife protection system, the triggering force is almost identical at any point of the knife and the knife triggers the protection mechanism even if a foreign object hits the bottom of the knife edge. Thus, the service life of the knives is increased many times over, depending on the operating conditions.

For maximum efficiency – Body and transport floor

For increasing the cost effectiveness by means of a prolonged use during silo maize harvesting, the Tera-Vitesse CFS has been designed as a dual-purpose wagon. Double benefit due to the solid body of the TeraVitesse CFS, the efficient transport floor, the front panel which can be folded (important when starting chopping), as well as a special maize plate which closes the rotor space.

Transport floor The Tera-Vitesse CFS is equipped with a plastic floor which offers optimum gliding properties with regard to conveying the loaded material as well as to the proper resting and guidance of the transport floor chains. The chain strands consist of solid square tubes welded to low-wear plate-link chains.

Maintenance The transport floor of the Tera-Vitesse CFS is very easy to maintain. As a standard feature, the lubrication points of the front transport floor bearing are grouped on the outside. An automatic chain tensioner always ensures proper tension of the transport floor chains.

Transport floor drive The transport floor is driven via a central, oversized feed gearing, to which two oil motors are flanged. In case of the standard 2-speed drive, both motors are switched in series such that the transport floor speed doubles.

9

Body The body has been designed for maximum interior width for a high transport capacity. The continuous side panels with the reinforced side posts give the vehicle a high stability. A high access door with a folding ladder always ensures a firm foothold and thus a safe entry into the vehicle.

Loading frame The standard upper part of the front grating, which can be folded hydraulically, and the mounted guide plate guarantee an optimum filling degree of the wagon. In addition, an even higher compression is achieved. The standard automatic charging system is integrated in the upper part. The scraper floor is automatically switched on when the tines in the automatic charging system are lifted.

Cargo space cover Safe transport of the loaded material can be guaranteed due to the new cargo space cover. This comfortable solution is hydraulically operated via a swivel drive and can thus be easily operated from the tractor seat.

Tailgate and dosing unit – Big mouth, exact dosing

A powerful forage wagon not only excels by its high loading performance but also by quick and effective discharge at or on the silo. For discharge in front of the silo, the forage wagon model without dosing drums will do. If discharge on the silo is intended while keeping the effort for distribution and compression as low as possible, we recommend the forage wagon with dosing unit with three distributing drums. Very shortly cut grass and even discharge on the silo provide the conditions for optimum compression of the silage.

Forage wagon tailgate The solid tailgate can be opened very widely by means of two double-acting hydraulic cylinders thus completely uncovering the opening. An electrical pressure switch for the level indicator is integrated in the tailgate. If the wagon is full, the green fodder presses against this switch thus initiating the operating terminal on the tractor to generate an acoustic and a visual signal.

Safe locking A mechanical locking mechanism of the hydraulic tailgate (for forage wagon as well as for forage wagon with dosing unit) ensures proper transport of the loaded material. Two hydraulic cylinders vertically move the tailgate upwards until it is lifted out of the locking mechanism, and then swivel it to the rear.

11

Dosing unit The Tera-Vitesse CFS -DO models are equipped as standard with a dosing unit with three hexagonal drums with aggressive ripping tines which loosen the fodder very well during discharge thus ensuring even depositing on the silo. This dosing unit is fitted with the same solid tailgate as the forage wagons. Depending on the type of discharge, this tailgate can be opened at two stages. At the first stage, the tailgate is only opened as widely as to permit the discharge of a uniform blanket of forage not impacted by the wind. The opening width of the first stage can be individually set via the ISOBUS control. At the second stage, the tailgate is swivelled up to the top.

Dosing drum drive The bottom dosing drum is powered via a maintenancefree drive shaft which is mounted in a space-saving manner in the longitudinal beam of the platform, and an angular gear which powers the dosing drum on the left-hand side by means of a drive shaft. The second and third drums are alternately powered via 1“ roller chains. This drive solution keeps the body width low, thus permitting maximum interior width. When the wagon is full, the bottom drum is able to evade to the rear thus stopping the transport floor feed via a sensor. The dosing drums can now freely start to run during discharge.

Chassis –

Safety on the field and on the road

Boogie tandem chassis The standard Tera-Vitesse CFS 4201 model is equipped with a boogie trandem chassis with parabolic suspension for an admissible axle load of 18 t. Due to the low pivot point of the chassis, the vehicle can easily be towed onto a bunker silo (roll-over effect). Furthermore, the standard forage wagons are fitted with a rear axle with follow-up steering. All chassis are designed for 26.5“ tyres.

Hydropneumatic tandem chassis For further improvement of the driving comfort at high speeds, a hydropneumatic tandem chassis is available as an optional extra for the Tera-Vitesse CFS 4201 model and as standard equipment for the 4601 model. The hydraulic axle compensation distributes the load even better onto all wheels and provides considerably safer driving characteristics when traversing hills. Due to the wheelbase of > 1800 mm, a maximum total weight of 24 t is allowed. When travelling on the field and on the silo, the hydropneumatic suspension is not activated, such that the vehicle cannot unintentionally deflect or incline to one side when traversing hills or when travelling on the silo. The suspension is only switched on when actuating the road travel switch on the control terminal, thus ensuring high driving comfort. Tridem chassis The Tera-Vitesse CFS 4601can be equipped with a hydropneumatic tridem axle assemply on request. This increases the maximum gross vehicle weight rating to 31 t and the contact area such that the ground contact pressure is reduced. Thus, the vehicle is prevented from being overloaded when used for grass drying plants or as a forage transport wagon for maize. The wagon is fitted with a electric-hydraulic forced steering axle system, the first and the third axle being steered. The standard Tera-Vitesse CFS 5201 model is equipped with a hydropneumatic tridem chassis for a gross vehicle weight of 34 t. Due to the wheelbase of > 1800 mm, an axle load of 10 t per axle is allowed.

13

Linkage For travelling over the silo, all Tera-Vitesse CFS models are equipped with a hydraulic folding drawbar with two double-acting cylinders. The standard hydraulic drawbar suspension ensures an even smoother ride of the Tera-Vitesse CFS during road travel. All standard models are equipped with a bottom hitch with coupling head allowing a tongue load of up to 4 t (depending on the tractor model) and ensuring low-maintenance linkage free of clearance and safe road hold of the combination of tractor and wagon. The propeller shaft is mounted in an additional bearing on the drawbar such that it can be kept very short and even running is ensured; the tractor is equipped with a sliding sleeve as a cap. Due to the guide mechanism, a wide-angle joint is now only necessary on the tractor, even when using forage wagons with dosing unit. Electronic forced steering axle For optimum driving comfort and maximum driving safety, the TeraVitesse CFS models with tandem chassis are equipped with the electronichydraulic forced steering axle system „Strautmann Electronic Steering“ (SES) as an optional extra, while this is a standard feature on the Tera-Vitesse CFS models with tridem chassis. The SES system offers high driving stability as the steering angle is adjusted to the speed. Due to the slim drawbar and the electronic-hydraulic forced steering axle system, the same steering angles as with the follow-up steering are possible, ensuring a high degree of manoeuvrability of the TeraVitesse CFS. The steering linkage to the angle of rotation sensor can be mounted by means of the ball-type coupling K50 on the left-hand or right-hand side of the drawbar.

14

Operation The standard Tera-Vitesse CFS is equipped with a BUS control based on ISO standard. The hydraulic functions are switched via a clearly arranged and solid control set with user-friendly keys, the signaling being carried out via an ISO terminal. Some functions for documentation of the work carried out are integrated in this control set. Furthermore, sensors are able to detect and eliminate problems at an early stage thus preventing subsequent damage which might occur due to operating errors, and ensuring outstanding reliability.

which can be used for control of the forage wagons according to the Strautmann ISO control.

ISO 11783 The ISO control crucially contributes to reduce the stress of the operator, as functional sequences can be combined in work flows (AI and AII) and sensors permit a better control of the machine. Thus, information about the steering axle, the tailgate and the position of the knives is provided by means of status indicators.
