C: We come in worship before Lord who made us, turning over to the Father all our needs: That by participating in the sacraments and meditating on Scripture, Christians may become more aware of their mission to evangelise. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. For the protection of the freedom to live and practise the fullness of our faith as Christ intended, even in the midst of a secular environment. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. That each may contribute to the common good and to the building of a society that places the human person at the centre. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. That, through the intercession of the newly canonised Saint Teresa of Calcutta, we will be able to see and reach out to Christ in the needs of our neighbours. C: The Lord inclines his ear to us and hears our voices raised in supplication. United in faith, we offer our prayers to the Father: That the Church will be a place of mercy freely given, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven, and encouraged to live the life of the Gospel. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. That those who hold public office will imitate the goodness of God, who secures justice and the rights of all the oppressed. On this, the fifteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, we pray for those who were killed, for the consolation of their families and friends, and for an end to terrorism throughout the world. With confidence in our Father's unfailing love, we ask him: That, during this Year of Mercy, the Church will reach out to those who are wounded, with an attentive ear, eye, mind, and heart. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. That churches, employers, and healthcare providers will be free from laws compelling them to compromise their ethical principles. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. For all those whose souls are undermined by envy or hatred: may those they seek to harm be protected. C: The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. Trusting in the Father we now pray: That God will bring forth many new vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. That, during this Year of Mercy, we will open ourselves up to the mercy of God and allow Jesus to come towards us by approaching him in the confessional. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. That lawmakers will pass laws that are truly necessary, wise, and just. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. For the unemployed: that they will soon find gainful employment, and be free from discouragement. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. For the poor, the homeless, the sick, and the suffering: that God will rescue and comfort them, especially through our charity. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. C: With prayer and thanksgiving we now make our petitions known to God the Father: That the Church will act as a mediator in finding solutions to problems affecting peace, social harmony, the defence of life, and human and civil rights. That our parishes will grow in faith, hope, and love through deeper devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the holy rosary. [Pause] Let us Pray to the Lord – Lord Hear our Prayer. We confide our needs to the Father and pray: That, during this Year of Mercy, the Church will reach out to those who are wounded and in need of an attentive ear, forgiveness, and love.
