Welcome to the Queens Hotel The No.1 Bar and Bistro is situated on the ground floor of the hotel, offering a vast array of Food, Alcoholic Drinks, Coffees, Teas, Soft Drinks, Wines, Champagnes and Cocktails. In this brochure you will find our menus for Room Service, The Bistro and Drinks Menus, Opening times for the Bar, Breakfast and Restaurant Times. The vast majority of our food dishes are prepared in the hotels Kitchens and where ever possible we use locally sourced produce and suppliers.

Sourced from Riverina, Riverland and Murray-Darling, this wine has a typically soft creamy texture with limey flavours and subtle oak overtones. A small percentage of Colombard is added to give the finish an extra bit of zingy acidity.

A crisp, dry Italian wine made to fuller style than is typical of this popular grape variety. Cool-fermented for maximum fruit and acidity retention, the wine is bottled while young and fresh.

Low-yielding old ‘bush vines’ planted on the South African Knorhoek Farm’s vineyards on the lower slopes of the towering Simonsberg Mountain produce this ripe, tropical-fruit flavoured Chenin Blanc. Some ‘lees’ ageing and partial malolactic-fermentation help to both soften and round the finish.

A premium selection of Chardonnay from some of the best French vineyards identified by Robert Skalli. Owing to the low yields obtained from the vines, the grapes have great intensity, which shows through in the finished wine. Part of the blend is barrel-fermented and aged to give an added vanilla-toasty dimension on the palate.

A single vineyard wine produced from grapes grown in Chile only nine miles from Pacific Ocean and therefore benefiting from its cooling influence, aged on its ‘lees’ for three months to heighten the varietal character and lend texture and mouth-feel. Shows nervy acidity and minerally flavours blended with aromas of citrus fruits, herbs, green chilli pepper and passion fruit. Bone-dry white Burgundy from Chablis’ most famous House. Classic Chablis flintiness with no oak-ageing. A classic French Sancerre, full of crisp ripe acidity and gooseberry fruit flavour from this excellent producer based in the hill-top town of Sancerre.

Fermented in stainless steel, the palate is a delicious coming together of the pepper, spice and raspberry flavours of the Shiraz with the blackcurrant and firm rich tannins of the Cabernet finished off with a light touch of toasty-vanilla oak. Raimat Vina 19 Merlot £22.00 £4.00 £5.10 Merlot is a variety that benefits from the climate and soils of Raimat’s vineyards producing very ripe grapes that have a well-balanced structure; the finished wine spends over a year maturing in oak casks. Concentrated with aromas of of plum, blackcurrant, raspberry and spice with enticing hints of cedar from the oak ageing. Spanish.

Raimat Cabernet Sauvignon £22.00

Named after an old abbey which was located in one of Raimat’s vineyards, Raimat Abadia is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. This wine is aged in new American oak casks for 12 months. Spanish.

Vidal Estates Pinot Noir £33.00

The maritime climate of New Zealand is perfect for Pinot Noir, and increasingly good results are being obtained. This outstanding wine was made using selected fruit from their newly planted vineyard near Maraekakaho; 10 months in French oak barrels gives the wine structure to add to the classic sweet raspberry fruit. Name to change to Reserve Series for the 2011 vintage.

This firm, richly dark wine from the Saint-Emillion satellite village of Lussac, with a rich chocolate and coffee flavour, layers of wood and spice. It’s packed with ripe plum and black cherry fruits. A wine worthy of the region.

Laurent Perrier Brut Rose £99.00

Salmon-pink in colour. The nose is precise and very crisp with a lasting impression of freshness, it has hints of soft red fruits, such as strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries and black cherries. Intensely fruity flavours begin clean and well-defined upon entry, the wine then opens up to provide a melange of flavours consisting of fresh strawberries, raspberries and wild cherries. It has great length and is rounded and supple on the finish.

Dom Perignon £195.00

A fitting tribute to the genius of the monk from Hautvillers who carried out much research to improve the quality of Champagne. Roughly equal proportions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are blended by modern-day genius, Richard Geoffroy, Moët & Chandon’s Chief Winemaker, and then left to mature for seven years prior to release. The 2002 was only the third Champagne to receive 20/20 from Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker marked it 96/100. The summer of 2003 was the hottest for 53 years and produced an atypical wine; rich, powerful and vinous, loaded with fruit, structure and personality.
