Dimensions Chair dimensions

Stair width and height With the automatic swivel option, Flow can be installed on very narrow staircases. The specifics can be found in the ‘measurements’ document. Below you find a few issues to take into account.

In order to get on or off downstairs or upstairs, without a parking bend, in most cases the stair width should at least be 820mm. In specific situations this dimension is even higher. If you have very narrow staircases, you can order the small footrest version.

height settings seat*

Five heights from floor to seat: - 575 mm - 552 mm - 530 mm - 507 mm (only available with automatic swivel) - 485 mm (only available with automatic swivel)

The automatic swivel chair will swivel up to 90 degrees during the ride. An inclination of more than 60 degrees, requires a vertical stop of about 180mm from the nose of the first step to the center of the rail.

height settings footrest*

Standard 75 mm from the floor to the top of the footrest, five heights between footrest and seat: - 500 mm - 477 mm - 455 mm - 432 mm - 410 mm

The rail can be installed close to the steps in case of the automatic swivel option. Every seat height and rail inclination requires a different height. These heights can be found in the ‘measurements’ document.

Armrest control

Ergonomic joystick

Flow has a fixed seat as standard. In addition, two swivel options are available:

The armrest control is positioned in the downside armrest. All controls are based on a ‘hold to run’ principle. This means the joystick has to be held in the preferred direction during the entire ride. The joystick also functions as a key, the stairlift will not work when no joystick is inserted.

As a result of a study with ergo therapists an ergonomic joystick has been designed. The ergo therapists stressed to the fact that many elderly do not have the force to operate a device with one finger. To be able to easily operate a device, it should be possible for them to divide their force and use all muscles in their hand and arm. Our ergonomic joystick now meets this criteria.

- Manual swivel. - Automatic swivel (downstairs and/or upstairs and during the ride).

Armrest design Flow can be equipped with two types of armrests: straight, or curved armrests for a more secure feeling.

The armrest control is delivered with three types of joysticks as standard. Optionally, an ergonomic joystick can be chosen.

Ergonomic joystick

Attendant control With the attendant control, an attendant can drive the stairlift up and down the rail if the user is not able to operate the stairlift.

ATTENTION: With the automatic swivel option, the curved armrests are compulsory.

Product features Drive unit Seat belt

Sleep mode

The retractable seat belt mechanism is located discretely inside the right or the left armrest. The fixed part in the opposite armrest can be lengthened during installation to provide for extra room.

A new feature is added to Flow: the sleep mode. This feature prevents the batteries in the drive unit from running empty rapidly. When the stairlift is not parked on a charging contact, it will go to sleep mode after 15 minutes to save energy.

Emergency Lowering Device Seat belt

Seat and footrest The seat and footrest are linked. They swivel together to take the users’ feet clear of the stairs to get on and off safely. In addition the user will stay comfortably in the same position during swivelling.

In case Flow stops during the ride and the stairlift can not drive further, Flow can be driven downwards with the Emergency Lowering Device (ELD). The ELD can be operated by pulling the main switch upwards and holding it until the stairlift arrives at the preferred destination. When the main switch is released, the stairlift will stop.

Flow2 can be delivered with two footrest sizes. The small footrest can be installed on very narrow staircases.

Product features Rail Rail possibilities The rail has a constant diameter of 80 mm. Besides it can be installed on the inner or outer stairway path. The rail ends offers a number of options to meet with specific situations:

- With a vertical stop downstairs, no hinge is required. - A flush mounted stop upstairs for instance prevents the rail from blocking doors which are close to the staircase. - Parking around the corner saves space at the top or bottom of the stairs.

Charging contacts Flow is delivered with two charging contacts. Optionally, an extra charging contact can be mounted half way the rail to park the stairlift out of the way. This charging contact can be installed in horizontal curves. With inclined curves the charging contact will be installed just before or after the curve.

- Or you can park the chair halfway the stairs on a parking contact.

Call and park stations

Options

Flow is deliverd with two call and park stations. These call and park stations work on C-cell batteries and are located at the top- and bottom of the stairs and possibly at each intermediate floor with stopping position. They are equiped with a wing key.

Flow has a fixed seat as standard. In addition, 2 swivel options are available.

All controls are based on a ‘hold to run’ principle. This means the stairlift stops when the pressure on the button is released. With the call and park stations you can bring the stairlift to you or park it on a pre-programmed parking position. If you have chosen to be able to put the lift “out of the way” somewhere halfway the stairs, your stairlift will go to this parking position, it will not drive further.

- Manual swivel - Automatic swivel (downstairs and/or upstairs and during the ride)

Advantages of the automatic swivel during the ride With the option of automatic swivel during the ride, the rail will often have a lower position than with the other options. This is possible because the critical position of the footrest will not interfere with the steps when the stairlift is swivelled. The following picture shows the difference of Flow on a staircase with an automatic swivel (white) and a manual swivel (red).

Repeater For longer stairs (rail longer than 15 m) or surroundings that might interfere with the call and park signals, a repeater is a useful aid to keep the signal strong. Automatic swivel during the ride option
