DENIS THE MENACE 19-year old Denis Malgin enters tonight's game on a four-game point streak (2-2-4). Malgin's first career goal was on Nov. 1 vs. BOS. His second goal marked his first career power play goal, scored on Nov. 3 vs. NJD. The first Swiss-born player to play for Florida, Malgin is the first Panthers rookie to have points in four consecutive games since Aaron Ekblad registered a four-game scoring streak Dec. 1-Dec. 8, 2014 (five games). Of the nine Swiss players to play a game in the NHL this season, Malgin is tied for third in scoring overall and tied for first in scoring among Swiss forwards. CLIMBING THE CHARTS With his second goal of the season and 29th of his career on Nov. 3 vs. NJD, Aaron Ekblad broke a tie with Brian Campbell, Dmitry Kulikov and Bryan McCabe for fifth place in franchise history for goals among defensemen. Ekblad currently owns the franchise defenseman records for game-winning goals (8), as well as rookie defenseman records for goals (12), assists (27) and points (39) set in 2014-15. The Windsor, Ontario native is two assists shy of his 50th career assist and is now four goals away from tying Ed Jovanovski for fourth in franchise history among Panthers blueliners. Ekblad has recorded five points (3-2-5) in nine career games vs. TBL. ON THE DEFENSE Florida's defensemen have combined for five goals and 23 points through 12 games this season. Jason Demers (0-5-5) and Keith Yandle (0-5-5) are tied for the lead in scoring among Panthers defensemen, while Aaron Ekblad (2G) and Michael Matheson (2G) lead in goals among the blueliners. Ekblad leads the Panthers with 23:27 average TOI and Yandle is tied with forward Jonathan Marchessault for the team lead in shots (37). Mark Pysyk leads the team with a plus-seven rating and Matheson, the only rookie on the Panthers blue line, leads the team with 14 blocked shots. IRON YANDS Defenseman Keith Yandle has recorded assists in three of his last four games, including his 300th career assist on Oct. 30 at DET. All five of Yandle's assists this season have been primary assists. Tonight Yandle is expected to play in his 564th consecutive game played in the NHL. Florida Panthers: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Gerard Gallant Gerard Gallant was named head coach of the Florida Panthers on June 21, 2014. In 2015-16, Gallant led the Panthers to a franchise record 47 wins and 103 points securing an Atlantic Division title and the franchise’s first playoff berth since 2011-12. Under Gallant, Florida won a franchise-best 12 consecutive games from Dec. 15, 2015 - Jan. 10, 2016. He finished the season as a nominee for the 2016 Jack Adams Award. Tampa Bay Lightning: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Jon Cooper Cooper was named Tampa Bay's eighth head coach on March 26, 2013. Cooper, 49, begins his fifth season as Lightning head coach and has amassed a 146-90-25 record entering 2016-17. Cooper's .607 win percentage is the highest in franchise history. He earned NHL victory No. 100 on April 11, 2015, making him the fifth-fastest coach among those who debuted in the NHL since 2000 to reach the mark. He led the Bolts to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of his three full seasons as head coach, including back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals (2015, 2016) and a Stanley Cup Final (2015).
