FLO PRO, INC. Bedford, NH EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS METFIN SERIES V MODEL 6002 MANGANESE MESH BELT BLAST BLAST CABINET The blast cabinet is fabricated entirely of manganese steel, utilizing 3/8” thick manganese steel plate for walls, roof, lower hopper, and wheel mount bussels. The all-welded construction ensures a solid base and support system for all other components. BLAST CHAMBER LINERS Being fabricated from manganese steel plate means the cabinet is inherently abrasive resistant, though the rigors of a multi-shift operation require that all facets of the blast chamber be protected by replaceable protective liners. Walls - Replaceable 3/8” thick manganese liners protect all areas of the side and vestibule walls, as well as the wheel bussels. Roof - Replaceable 3/8” thick manganese liners protect all areas of the roof Abrasive reclaim hopper – The entire lower screw conveyor is protected by a 1/4” thick manganese cover pate to prevent direct impact of abrasive on the screw. Additionally, this cover plate prevents large objects from contacting and jamming the screw. Replaceable 3/8” thick liners protect exposed areas of the hopper, above the scalping deck. Auxiliary Alloy Liners – Selected areas of intense blast exposure will be additionally protected by replaceable ½” thick cast alloy plating. VESTIBULES Entrance and exit vestibules are fabricated of 3/8” thick manganese steel plate. Three sets of seals in the entrance vestibule and four sets of seals in the exit vestibule provide abrasive containment. The seals adjacent to the blast chamber are abrasive resistant molded urethane finger seals. Second and third seals are fabricated from cloth inserted rubber. CENTRIFUGAL BLAST WHEELS Abrasive is propelled against the components to be cleaned by six (6) direct drive blast wheels. Abrasive is fed through the center of the wheels and transferred to the eight blades of the wheels, which accelerate the abrasive to about 300 FPS. Impellers and control cages control this transfer to create a condensed targetable flow of abrasive. Metal Finish Equipment & Supply Company, Inc. 19 Kenny Roberts Drive Suffield, CT 06078

Single-sided blast wheels reduces overhung load, thereby increasing bearing life, while simplifying feed part exchange (i.e., blades, cage and impeller).

Blast wheels use non-proprietary, commercially available components, assuring a supply of parts at prices below typical proprietary OEM components.

Heavy-duty steel housings are protected by cast alloy top and end liners and manganese steel side liners.

Replaceable control cage mounting plates provide for simplified spindle and wheel alignments and easy control cage adjustment for targeting the blast stream.

20 HP blast wheel motors drive wheel at 3600 RPM.

ABRASIVE RECLAIM SYSTEM The abrasive reclaim system provides the function of collecting used abrasive and returning it to the storage hopper to be reused by the blast wheel. In the process, all contaminants removed from the blasted parts, and small broken abrasive particles are removed from the abrasive mix. The result of this process is a clean, definable “operating mix” made up of an array of useful abrasive sizes that will optimize the equipment’s cleaning efficiency. The Elevator casing, Discharge transition, Upper screw trough, separator and abrasive storage hopper are all fabricated utilizing ¼” AR steel Plate Scalping Deck – In the blast chamber, manganese perforated plate located directly below the work conveyor, catches all materials dropping from the blast chamber. Course refuse items will not pass through the plate’s perforations. Bar grating performs a similar function in the inlet and exit vestibules Reclaim Hopper - All materials passing through the scalping deck are captured in the reclaim hopper. Steep hopper walls, fabricated of 3/8” manganese plate, assure all materials flow smoothly to the bucket elevator. Reclaim Screw Conveyor – A 12” diameter spiral screw conveyor transports the spent abrasive from each vestibule and the blast chamber to the elevator. The screw conveyor is fabricated of abrasive resistant AR steel flighting, and is independently driven by a direct drive, shaft mounted gear reducer. Abrasive Bucket Elevator - Utilizing cast iron buckets, bolted to a reinforced rubber belt, the elevator transports spent abrasive and fines from the boot section of the elevator to the separator. A lagged heavy-duty head pulley provides ample traction to drive the belt. A direct Metal Finish Equipment & Supply Company, Inc. 19 Kenny Roberts Drive Suffield, CT 06078

drive, shaft mounted gear reducer drives the head pulley. Adjustable bearing plates on each end of the head pulley shaft provide belt tracking and tension control. Discharge Transition - The discharge transition contains abrasive as it exits the elevator buckets by centrifugal force and guides it to the upper abrasive distribution screw conveyor. A replaceable manganese wear plate protects the abrasive impact zone. ABRASIVE SEPARATOR The abrasive separator cleans and classifies the reclaimed abrasive. Plates in the air wash separator create an abrasive curtain, causing the abrasive to flow in a waterfall fashion through an air wash. The air wash, provided by suction from the dust collector, removes fine dust particles and stratifies them by size and density. Small and light density materials are drawn to the back of the abrasive curtain and skimmed off, allowing only good usable abrasive to return to the storage hopper and on to the blast wheel. ABRASIVE CONTROL VALVES The flow of abrasive to each wheel is controlled by fully enclosed pneumatically actuated valves which provide multiple functions. • • • •

Turns abrasive flow on and off completely, as required by the process operation. Controls abrasive flow rate to the blast wheel utilizing simple adjusting screws to finely regulate flow rate. Fully enclosed design dampens noise generated in the blast wheel. Manganese slide plate, rigidly mounted on the air cylinder shaft provides long life, unencumbered abrasive flow and positive closing and sealing action.

MESH BELT CONVEYOR SYSTEM The conveyor through the Shot Blast Cleaning System, will be an endless manganese (11-14%) steel wire mesh belt. The overall width of the conveyor belt being 36”. A 1-1/2 HP drive motor shaft mounted reducer will provide a speed range of 3 to 10 FPM. Anticipated operating speed will be in the 4 to 6 FPM range. The drive will be located on the exit end pulley. The full load capacity of the conveyor belt will be expected to be 50 pounds per lineal foot. The conveyor belt extends to the walls on each side and will be supported throughout the entire length of the machine (except for gaps in direct line with abrasive blast patterns) by replaceable manganese support rails. Manganese support bars at each vestibule divider provide addition belt support A large diameter rubber lagged pulley, friction drives the conveyor belt from the exit end. Heavy duty pulleys at the exit and lower return ends provide support and tension to the belt system. Tracking is provided by the lower return pulley on the entrance end, utilizing dual pneumatic cylinders to provide adjustable tension on each end of the tracking pulley. BLOW OFF A high volume, low pressure blow off system will be installed in the last section of the exit vestibule. This unit powered by a 10 HP direct drive blower, will be equipped with the appropriate air distribution components (air knives, cannons, etc) for the part configurations being blasted. WORK PRESENT SENSOR A work present switch turns abrasive gates on as work approaches the blast machine. When work is not present, and sufficient time has elapsed to completely blast the prior work piece, the abrasive gates closes to prevent unnecessary wear on the cabinet. The blast wheels continue running waiting for next work piece SERVICE PLATFORM Service platform with safety railings provides easy access to the various operating components located at the upper elevations of the machine. Service platform provides complete access to the entire elevator drive area, the entire front and sides of the upper screw conveyor and air wash separator area. Access to the service platform is by single width rung type ladder and safety cage. A spring loaded, normally closed gate at the top of the ladder creates a completely enclosed platform when in properly closed position. The flooring of the platform is checked plate surrounded by a 4” toe kick, having standard man-load rating. ELECTRICAL CONTROLS AND OPERATOR PANELS Power distribution controls and operator push button stations are combined in one NEMA 12 enclosure.
