First United Methodist Church June 2016 Newsletter Thought from Rich Dear Friends, After an extensive lesson about the good news found in Ephesians, Chapter 2, verses 8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” The Sunday School teacher asked his 5 Year Olds Class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would that get me into Heaven?” “NO!” the children all answered. Pleased with the children’s answer the teacher for a second time asked, “If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I get into Heaven?” Again, the answer was, “NO!” The teacher was thrilled the kids seemed to have learned the lesson. So he asked, “Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all the children, and loved my wife, would that get me into Heaven?” Again, they answered, "NO!" Now came the final test of the children’s understanding of the lesson. The teacher asked, “Well then how can I get into Heaven?” A five-year-old boy in the back of the class room shouted out with all conviction, “YOU GOTTA BE DEAD!”

Even though the child’s answer might not have been what the teacher was looking for, the truth remains: “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” - Romans 8:11 In this world we must die to ourselves for the Holy Spirit to make his

Please consider donating to our Youth Camps! We have many kids going and to help our Church budget we rely on donations to pay for camps! Average cost for the kids to go to camp is around $185.00. Please make checks out to FUMC with camps in the memo. Thank you!!

Summer camps are underway & Your help is needed! It’s time for Summer Camps and your help is needed! Each year our church pays half of the cost of each camper’s fees. These camps range from $50.00 to $330.00 per camper. This year we have nearly 50 youth, children and adults attending camp and we need your help. If you are looking for a way to help the youth of our church and to help keep our general budget in tact then please prayerfully consider giving a donation to our camp funds this year. Your help is needed! You may make your donations through the church office or in the offering plate on Sunday and note that it is for Summer Camp. Please contact Misty in the office if interested.
