NUMBER 4
Sunday, May 5, the Pastor Search Committee recommends that we extend an invitation to Byron Williamson to be the pastor of First Baptist Church Pampa, TX. This recommendation has been reviewed and approved by the Personnel Committee, Finance Committee, and Deacon Body.
Byron has been pastor since 2001 at a Southern Baptist Church in the Houston area and also served as pastor for two years in the Texas Panhandle. Byron was born December 17, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and received a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He married Jana Murray on December 18, 1988, and they have three awesome children. Their oldest, Ashley, is a High School Minister at Pinelake Church in Brandon, Mississippi; Bethany is a student at Texas A&M University, and Colby is a junior in high school. Byron and his family will be in Pampa for the week-end of May 3-5, 2013. He will be in our pulpit on Sunday, May 5 (which means he will preach the morning and evening service and then the church will vote that night to extend an invitation to Byron to be our pastor.) Please make every effort to be at both of those services and give the Williamsons a warm FBC welcome. The schedule for the week-end will be: Saturday, May 4 - 2:00-4:00 p.m.
6:30-8:30 p.m.
All Church Fellowship to meet Byron and family in the Fellowship Hall. Cookies and Punch will be served. Deacons, Staff, and Spouses to meet Byron and family in the Fellowship Hall
The Pastor Search Committee wants you to know that we have seen God’s direction during this process and we have felt your prayers. Pastor Search Committee: Chairman; Walt Williams, Dale Ammons, Pat Aderholt, Matt Brock, Brenda Condo, Darville Orr, & Jana Vinson

Everybody get ready to hang on tight! Vacation Bible School 2013, Colossal Coaster World (as in roller coaster), is coming very soon!! First Baptist Vacation Bible School will be June 24-28. The theme is “Facing Fear, Trusting God!” and the scripture theme is 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” Please call the church office if you can help with Vacation Bible School in June! We need you and we have lots of places for you to help. We’ve got your ticket to ride!!
Many years ago the church was given several burial spaces to be donated for indigent needs. These were never used and the county now has taken on the responsibility of providing these needs. The church recently voted to see these lots at or near market value.
Something for you to pray about & then get involved in!! We have several needs in the Preschool and Children’s Ministries at FBC. These are not problems, but they are definitely awesome opportunities for servant leadership! First, we need to start a new Crawler Sunday School class for our babies who are between bed babies and toddlers because we have several new babies and babies on the way. This is a wonderful blessing to have and we know God will meet the needs we have for ministry to babies and children!! We would need at least two workers every Sunday during Sunday School for that class. Next, we also need extended care workers for toddlers to kindergarten. This would be one Sunday about every 7 weeks during the worship hour. This ministry allows parents of babies and preschool children to attend worship while their children are being cared for and are also learning about God. Last but not least, we have opportunities for service in our Bus Ministry and Children’s Worship time. You can drive a van, be a substitute driver, help with a breakfast, or serve during the Children’s Worship hour.
Before these lots are placed on the open market, church members may wish to consider purchasing these lots. One Lot - Fairview Cemetery - Old Section Six Lots - Memory Gardens (All in same area) (These will be sold in multiples of two.) If interested, contact Joe Mabry @ 669-1155.
Youth Ministries ~ Trey Wells Greetings in Christ Jesus! Of the many things we do in our student ministry, there is one event every year that stands out; it is our annual trip to Student Life Camp. I continually tell students and their parents, if you can only attend one event in our ministry attend this. When we unplug from our digital lives, when we get out of our comfort zones, when we get away and saturate our lives with God, miracles happen. Each year I challenge students, if you let go of your cell phone, IPOD, boyfriend/girlfriend and let God work in your life at camp, your life will never be the same. Almost every year a student takes that challenge and tells me after camp: “Pastor Trey, I didn’t believe you, all that about letting go and letting God, but you were right!” Please pray with me for the students to let go and let God work in their lives. Pray for the camp pastor, camp worship leader, the Bible study leaders, unity workers, and sponsors.
Please contact Lisa Gibson or Pam Lash when you pray and are led to serve in the Preschool and Children’s Ministries of FBC Pampa!! We need you and we look forward to serving with you!!!
Please unite with us in prayer. Please consider sponsoring a student who cannot afford to attend, and imagine just what God may accomplish!
*********************************************** It is Spring now and Summer will be here before you know it, so it’s time to start making those Summer Camp plans for your boys and girls who have completed 3 rd – 6th grade! The cost of all camps is $130/camper. Some camp scholarships are available. Scholarship request forms can be picked up in the church office beginning May 1, 2013 and they must be returned to the office by May 31, 2013. Boys’ Camp – June 30-July 3, 2013 Kids’ Camp – July 7-10, 2013 Girls’ Camp – July 10-13, 2013

Please continue to call on us anytime we can be of assistance to you and in your walk with the Lord.
As you receive this communication, I sense in my heart and spirit that our church needs to be really careful to give God all of the glory for everything He has done in our midst during this interim period. The aroma of salvation can be detected almost every week, as God’s saving power happens with great regularity. There is a renewed sensitivity, especially on the part of our young adult families, to raise the level of obedience in their own lives and the lives of their children. Our students have become very aware of where they stand with Jesus Christ. With Trey’s leadership, they have pursued Him with passionate hearts eager to please Jesus Christ. All of this has resulted in a spirit that has been so conducive to honoring the Lord with every facet of our ministry. God has been so faithful. He has met every need. He has supplied our every want. He has shown Himself to be sufficient, and I am so honored to be called “His child.” It is a great privilege to be mentioned as a member of First Baptist Church, Pampa. Let’s remain true to Him, faithful to His cause, and let’s be a people that continue to encourage a journey of passion when it comes to our relationship with Jesus Christ. See you Sunday.
In Christ, David and Terri Troublefield
Barry
Dear FBC Family, We want to thank you VERY MUCH for the good-bye reception held in our honor on April 7--and for your many expressions of love and kindness--but especially for your friendship and gospel partnership during the past two years. Terri and I count it a privilege to have served the Lord with you as ministry staff member and spouse, and we look forward as laypersons to all that God will do through FBC-Pampa as a Christian congregation in the years ahead. Our next senior pastor and his family will be blessed indeed, as we have been, to work alongside you reaching the community and growing the church!

From Our Interim Pastor If you weren’t here this past Sunday, you missed that we are suppose to be an ACTS 2 church. Acts 2:41-47 41) “Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. 42) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43) A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44) And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45) They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46) They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47) all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
