Practical information and communication start.ap.be You can find all official information about course units, teaching methods, learning outcomes, credits, types of evaluation, exam content, etc.in the digital study guide (ECTS). Via Ibamaflex you can manage your enrollment and consult your results. Blackboard is the electronic learning environment of the university college. It is used as a communication platform for students, teachers and administration. You can also find course materials, manuals and the education and examination regulations. Besides blackboard your AP-mail is an official means of communication. As a new student, you will receive your AP-mail with your password when signing your study contract. Then you can change your password yourself. You can also have your AP-mail forwarded to your personal email address.

Presence You are expected to attend all classes, projects, productions and activities within your study programme. These can take place outside the regular teaching hours, on evenings and during weekends. For courses that use continuous assessment, absences will be taken into account. In case of absence, inform your teacher in advance. However, you are only legitimately absent if you have also submitted a medical certificate at the secretariat, or (in case of an audition or project) if you have received a written authorization from Iris Bouche / Liese Stuer.

Classrooms You can find information on availability, booking and access to the classrooms and production rooms in the student handbook. A class room can be booked through reception or a computer of the house (see student handbook). For questions and/or agreements with respect to the production rooms (Black Hall, Yellow Hall, White Hall, room 57 and room 435) you should mail to [email protected] Permission to study at the conservatoire during the weekend should be requested once only and in time from Liese Stuer. Specific requests are submitted before Thursday 16 p.m. at reception.

Internship In your third bachelor, you can participate as a dancer or choreographer in an external dance or dance theatre production. The initiative is all yours, so you will have to contact companies and take part in auditions if necessary. Once you have found an internship, contact Iris Bouche (planning) and Liese Stuer (internship agreement). You can not start your internship before the agreement is signed by all parties.

Medical Assistance In-house physiotherapists The conservatoire employs two physiotherapists. They were selected on the basis of their unique practical experience with dancers and musicians. Both Anne and Lode will be alternately available during term time for advice and treatment in room 399 (room for physiotherapy/osteopathy, Beel hoog, 3rd floor). Anne Schütt will help you with free advice. For a consult, you (immediately) pay € 22. This fee can be eligible for partial reimbursement when the treatment is prescribed by your general practitioner. Belgian health insurance sets no limit to the number of treatments per year. A maximum if 18 visits will be reimbursed at a 75% rate; from the 19th visit this percentage decreases. Anne Schütt specializes in the treatment of injuries and disorders among musicians and dancers and was involved in research into these matters as described above. In the course of her research, she gave training in the dance program. She also coaches the musicians of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. She also took extra training at the "Médecine des Arts" in Paris. Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays 12:30pm to 13:30pm Appointments: 0485 03 13 87 Lode Verreyen has experience in coaching dancers and actors (Koninklijk Ballet van Vlaanderen, dance and theatre groups Jan Fabre/Troubleyn, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui/Eastman, Compagnie Marius) and musicians (deFilharmonie and Art City deSingel). He also has expertise in the field of practice management and is a member of the board of the Scientific Association of Flemish Physiotherapists. In the Royal Ballet of Flanders, he organized medical assistance and a general health culture Hours: Thursdays and Fridays 12h30 to 13h30 Appointments: [email protected], 03 830 11 17

Lessons in Alexander Technique The Conservatoire offers students the opportunity to take lessons in Alexander Technique under the guidance of an experienced and qualified teacher, Helga Henckens. The Alexander Technique is not a postural technique but a method for recovering equilibrium and coordination in the body. You learn to recognise and stop harmful tension patterns, which hinder good functioning, without causing new tensions. The aim is to master the basics and learn to be able to use them to improve the quality of your performance. The way in which we use ourselves has a constant influence on the general functioning of our organisms in every reaction and during every moment of our lives - and this influence can be either harmful or beneficial. Lessons are taught individually or in groups of 3 and include opportunities to play, sing, dance or act using the Alexander Technique. These lessons take place on Friday and must be paid for (€8, the remaining amount will be paid by vzw Vrienden van het Conservatorium). Introduction: 17/09/2015, 13:30 – 14h:30 room 101 Helga Henckens: 011/23.32.34 or 0479/955 498, [email protected] www.fmalexandertech.be
