After the session so many people said how much would it be for Jan to come for the day and put together a session for maximum of 25-30 participants? ” Laura Wyatt - Canon Europe 6

The Advantage and Benefits of QCF Qualifications (Qualification and Credit Framework) against non accredited courses:

1. QCF is a regulated qualification which sits on the Ofqual register under sector area (SSA) 2. Achieving a regulated qualification is exactly that, an achievement you and others can be proud of. 3. This demonstrates a certain standard and level of knowledge and competence in your chosen subject (First Aid Training). 4. These qualifications are awarded by organisations which have been approved by an independent regulator “Ofqual”. 5. In order to meet the requirements for ongoing approval, these organisations must consistently demonstrate the highest standard of quality assurance in design and delivery of all qualifications. 6. All qualifications offered by a regulated organisation sit in the “Ofqual” register. 7. Each qualification as it is entered into a register, is assigned a specific Subject Sector Area (SSA) this makes it easy to find other regulated qualifications that build upon or compliment your learning. 8. Simply search on the Ofqual register (found at www.ofqual.gov.uk) using the advanced search options which can provide you with a list of qualifications falling into a specific SSA 9. The QCF is designed to help facilitate the recognition of prior learning so that you do not have to repeat learning or assessment already completed.

20

Our support to you

continues after your course finishes with access to our online training movies as a quick refresher guide for key skills.

If you find a qualification that you want to take but believe you are able to provide official can apply to the relevant awarding organisation for recognition on prior learning. This means it should be possible to award you some of the credit needed to compete the qualification without you having to repeat learning. We have outlined the importance and value to you of our QFC course. Non accredited courses DO NOT offer any of the above mentioned advantages to delegates. Your QCF Certificate is equivalent to an NVQ Certificate which gives you credit towards any other relevant further education courses that you may wish to pursue, by having registered evidence at Ofqual of recognised prior learning.

3 Green Cross courses are all QCF regulated and certified at NO EXTRA COST.

First Aid at Work Regulations What you need to know and how it affects your company… The new regulations for first aid at work, implemented by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in October 2013, places a much greater responsibility on the employer and gives them more flexibility to choose the right training provider, that meets the required standards and relevant quality assurance systems to deliver training for their workplace needs. If you are training with Green Cross you can be assured that our training standards will always meet the required standards to satisfy your legal requirements. With over 20 years experience as an approved HSE training supplier we have maintained the same high standards with the legislation changes in October 2013, and are now a *registered training centre for Qualsafe offering (QCF) nationally recognised qualifications in First Aid Training and Health & Safety courses. Our risk profiling service at www.greencrosstraining.co.uk/compliance or one of our customer advisers for personal assistance are available to assist you with the guidance. First Aid & The Law (ACOP L74) - United Kingdom Extracts taken from HSE First Aid at Work The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 The document is commonly known as L74 ( Third Edition) Published 2013. This code has been approved by the Health & Safety Commission and gives practical advice on how to comply with the law. Health & Safety Inspectors seek to secure compliance with the law and may refer to this guidance as illustrating good practice. The Regulations are in place and are to be adhered to by all businesses. With example: ACOP 3(6) “Where an employer provides first aiders in the workplace, they should ensure they have undertaken suitable training, have an appropriate first aid qualification and remain competent to perform their role. Typically, first aiders will hold a valid certificate of competence in either first aid at work (FAW) or emergency first aid at work (EFAW). EFAW training enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill at work. FAW training including EFAW also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses. These are listed in the full HSE document in paragraphs 52-73. This guidance is written to reflect the optional four-layer framework for first aid provision that has been in place for many years. The framework will help employers to comply with the Regulations by providing ‘offthe-peg’ levels of provision. These layers are: • appointed person (AP) • emergency first aid at work (EFAW) • first aid at work (FAW) • additional training You may choose not to use the optional framework and use alternative means to demonstrate compliance with your needs assessment. The thinking behind this guidance, however, applies equally to whatever level of training you choose (unless alternative guidance is provided for specific instances).”
