Olszewski, Warszawa, Poland Svante Orell, Adelaide, Australia COURSE OUTLINE The course will cover areas of interest to the cytopathologist who performs fine needle aspirations (FNA) of palpable lesions or who reports on smears of FNA:s taken by radiologists and clinical colleagues as well as cytotechnicians who screen FNA smears. A major focus will be on breast lesions (palpable and nonpalpable), lesions of the lymph nodes, lung, thyroid, head and neck and soft tissue and bone but other important areas such as preparing techniques, immunocytochemistry, molecular genetics, pitfalls in FNA and other will also be covered. The course includes lectures on all the topics. Microscopes will be available and there will be slide workshops with time for discussion in addition to the lectures. In addition, a disc will be distributed to participants with histories and images of cases relating to “Lumps in the neck”. This material will be discussed in the section on cytology of the lung, head and neck and thyroid. Participants will have an opportunity to present their findings and differential diagnoses. We look forward to a lively interaction between the faculty and participants. HOW TO ENROL

The course will be limited to 40 participants who will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Payment must be made by September 30. If payment is not made by that time, the place will be offered to a reserve applicant. COST The course fee is 8 000 Swedish crowns (SEK) including tuition, course material, tea/coffee, every-day lunch at the hospital cafeteria and course dinner on Thursday. HOUSING There are several comfortable hotels in Lund/Malmö in varying price classes.
