Desalination Membrane Pre-Filtration Pre-filtration is perhaps the most important part of a satisfactory performance of RO unit after the RO membranes themselves. The ability of cartridge filters to remove suspended particulates, colloids from the feed stream greatly impacts the performance and longevity of any RO equipment and specifically the high performance units. Desalination Membrane Fouling Protection SDI and turbidity are the key factors that determine the correct use of any spiral wound RO/NF membrane elements. A good multimedia depth filter followed by robust cartridge filters are designed to decrease “SDI and turbidity” increasing the life span of RO/NF elements as well as allowing continuous high performance of spiral wound RO/NF membrane elements. Desalination Membrane Biofouling Protection Bacteria range in size from 0.2 to 2 microns in width or diameter and from 1 to 10 microns in length for the non-spherical specie, so a 1-micron filter will remove most bacteria and cysts in waters where biofouling is a concern.

Raw Water Treatment Critical to the absolute purity of your finished product is filtration at every stage, including pre-filtration of raw water as it enters the process. DI Water The use of filters on the deionization system is used to treat incoming mains water. Trap filters ensure that the make-up process water is of high-purity by preventing downstream contamination of source water sediment or ion exchange bead migration. Process Water In industrial applications, water treatment is employed to optimize processes such as heating, cooling, processing, cleaning and rinsing. ClaryT Metallic Filter Housings are made out from Super Duplex / Duplex SS / SS304 / SS 316 / SS 316L/ CS / MS material with innovative features like lower pressure drop at higher flow rate, larger connections, air venting provision, robust knife-edge-zero bypass and leak proof sealing. ClaryT Metallic Filter Housings are sealed with top seated Buna-N/Silicon/Viton* ‘O’ ring by positive tangential contact that eliminates accidental misplacement. Vessels have various connection sizes and types to match various flow rating and piping configurations. All housings have been tested and passed the hydrostatic leak and burst pressure test to ensure consistent safe performance.

Ro-Protect HF Filter Cartridges utilize pleated depth media and result in exceptional flow capacity, low pressure drop and excellent retention efficiency. Large diameter leads to the requirement of fewer elements. The result is lower capital cost and smaller footprint as compared to conventional cartridge filters. All high flow elements are provided with an ergonomically designed handle which makes the installation and removal easier without the use of special tools or other hardware. These elements are free of any additives or binders as they have an advanced thermally welded construction.

Desalination filter housings are large diameter, large flow, and corrosion resistant. Made out from corrosion resistant material like Super Duplex Steel, Duplex Steel, GRP material, ideally suited for filtration of sea water. Available with options to fit Single Open Ended or Double Open Ended filter cartridges. Optionally, housings can be manufactured from MS or CS material with internal rubber /PTFE lining and or coating. Available up to 20” line size, these housings offer large flow capacity up to 1250 m3/hr. Outer surface is protected with triple layer epoxy paint of 450 DFT. Designed as per ASME SEC VIII DIV.1, these housings can be supplied in accordance with CE/PED/U-Stamp requirements.

Range of sediment filter cartridges with antimicrobial product protection provided by a silver based antimicrobial agent included in the plastic matrix with a specific technology: the silver-based active ingredient is widely distributed so that the antimicrobial technology infused into the filter cartridge helps prevent the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria keeping it cleaner for longer. SANIC filter cartridges are designed to work in combination with SANIC filter housings provided with the same antimicrobial technology. ClaryWound cartridge filters are manufactured using a continuous winding process that creates a superior high performance filter with hundreds of diamond shaped tunnels that get progressively smaller from the outer diameter to the core. Backwashable Filter Elements Metal Fiber Filters Manufactured from randomly laid metal fibers, sinter-bonded to form a uniform high porosity filter medium, these filter elements have significantly low pressure drop, high permeability and excellent dirt holding capacity. Moreover, sintered metal fiber media may be pleated to increase the available filtration area of a filter element, thereby increasing dirt holding capacity, minimizing maintenance and maximizing on-stream processing. Sintered Porous Metal Filters These filter elements are manufactured from fine Metal Powder and are sintered at high temperature to form a robust structure with a variety of pore sizes. Primarily produced in 316L grade for use in temperatures up to 540ºC (1004ºF), depending on process conditions, and offering resistance to most chemicals. Melt-blown polypropylene filter cartridge filled with polyphosphate crystals for anti-scale water conditioning providing pre-filtration and prevention from scale deposit and calcareous accumulation and protection from corrosion for water heaters, washing machines and pipes. The Melt-blown Filter Cartridge which houses the polyphosphate crystals are made of thermally bonded polypropylene micro fibers, which impart integrity and better efficiency to the cartridge. Polyphosphate treatment is a simple, effective and economic solution for the problem of scale deposits. When dissolved in water, the polyphosphate prevents the formation of calcium carbonate encrustation by acting upon its crystallization, without affecting the hardness of the water. Over time, it also tends to break down existing deposits. Polyphosphates also provide effective protection against corrosion by creating a thin protective film on the surface of the pipes, coils and water heaters.

Bag Filter Housings are used as a pre-filtration to cartridge filter housings to increase the life of filter cartridges. Bag filter, when used as a pre-filter to cartridge filter, removes majority of coarser suspended particulates and thus increases life of cartridge filter. Metal bag filter housings are produced from SS316L, SS316, SS304, CS, MS materials with options to fit variety of filter bags having PP Flanged collar, Rubber collar, Snap fit ring/collar. Filter bag fitment inside the housing is supported by perforated metal basket. With Star Flow basket, bag filter housing provides higher dirt holding and longer service life. Inline Flanged type nozzle orientation offers easy piping. Multi bag filter housings are suitable up to 750 m3/hr flow from single vessel. Clarysorb oil adsorbent filters are designed to remove a full range of non-emulsified oil and dirt from a process stream and include the POMB, PSORB, OWS and 500 Series filter configurations. POMB oil adsorbing filters combine standard felt and a polypropylene micro fibre layer for non-emulsified oil adsorption in non-critical applications. They are available in the standard (OA) and light (OALT) configuration PSORB series filters offer enhanced oil removal capability due to a specially blended microfiber core which dramatically increases the available surface area for oil adsorption. Backwashing

The unfiltered fluid is transported into room P1 through the inlet by means of the feed pump. Separation of particles out of the liquid occurs while the unfiltered fluid flows from room P1 into room P2. Between these both chambers the filter material is installed on a perforated drum. The filtered fluid is discharged through the outlet and goes to the P2-pressure equalizing tank, the spin tank or the P2-control valve. The blockage of the filter material causes a continuously increasing differential pressure ∆P between room P1 and room P2. This increase of the differential pressure is analysed by a PLC control system. After reaching a preselected differential pressure, the backflush will be started.

After the maximum degree of contamination has been reached, the total surface of the filter material is cleaned by a backwash procedure. This takes place by one rotation (360°) of the backwash device. The channel, shaped opening in the backwash strip, which seals to the inside surface of the perforated drum (carrier of the filter material), executes the backwash with the minimum quantity of backwash liquid (filtrate), which is necessary to rinse the filter material from impurities. After having cleaned the whole surface, the backwash device remains in the waiting position until the differential pressure reaches the preselected value again.

Automatic Backwash Filter System

Operating Principle Canfil Is A Fully Automatic Filtration System Filtration The fluid to be filtered is forwarded into the untreated water area of the filter via the inlet pipe, flows through the filter candles fastened to the perforated disc and exits purified through the outlet pipe. The automatic vent separates possible gas and air bubbles. Impurities are kept back within the filter candles and produce an increasing flow resistance.

Status: Filtration

Backwashing As soon as the pressure difference is reached, which can be set on the pressure difference switch, or a pre-selected period of time expires, the automatic backwashing with own medium gets activated. The backwash rotor moves from one bottom opened candle to all other filter candles, without interrupting operations, so that if the backwash valve is opened at the same time all filter candles will be backwashed with the filtered own medium, through flow reversal.

Status: Backwashing

After a full rotation of the backwash rotor, the backwash process is finished and the backwash valve will be closed.

Typical process water systems use RO (Reverse Osmosis) technology as the method of decreasing the level of ions in process water. RO recovery rates normally range from 75-80%, therefore 20-25% of the RO feed water is discharged as wastewater. With the increasing cost of water and waste discharge, more companies are looking to recover and reuse RO reject water. While it is possible to reuse the reject water from an RO by feeding it directly into a 2nd RO unit, the likelihood of scaling or fouling the 2nd RO without pretreatment is rather high. Using a TMF system coupled with lime softening will reduce scaling and enhance the operation of the 2nd RO. Lime softening along with TMF provides very efficient softening, silica reduction and solids removal within a single process scheme. Using this treatment technique, recovery rates can be greater than 95% while assuring substantial reduction of scaling to the RO units. This is an efficient and cost effective method for either retrofitting existing RO systems or incorporating it into newly designed systems.

Industrial processes can often result in waste water contaminated with heavy metals that require treatment prior to discharge or recycling. A treatment system using POREX Tubular Membrane Filter Modules in combination with chemical precipitation provides excellent reduction of heavy metals (Nickel, Zinc, Copper, Lead, Chromium, etc). TMF product water (permeate or filtrate) is ready for either disposal into existing municipal waste systems or further treatment for plant reuse/recycle. Treated effluent levels of less than 1 ppm suspended solids and less than 0.1 ppm metals are typical. Cleaning of the TMF modules is simple and involves the use of standard chemicals which will allow many years of service.
