Fibromyalgia… They would just tell me there was nothing wrong and it might be in my head. I have beenunder Dr. Durr and Dr. Childs care for a little over a year. I had a hard time getting aroundon a daily basis, the housewas dirty, the yard was suffering, my enjoyment of life was no more. There was pain in everythingI tried to do. …after three months, the Fibromyalgia pain is gone! In the spring of 2003 I had a flair-up of Fibromyalgia after it had been in remission for about nine years. The prescribed medication to treat Fibromyalgia also

kept me from sleeping at night and this was not for me. It only made things worse. Pain medication did not help very much either. Then, in the fall I had a car accident, a rear end collision that made the Fibromyalgia pain even worse. That is when my daughter saw the Corrective Chiropractic Outreach Ad about Fibromyalgia treatment in her newspaper. I called this great office, met with Dr. Durr and Dr. Childs and very soon got treatment started. NO PILLS, NO PAIN MEDS, just adjustments, exercises and also understanding about how old injuries can cause this to happen. Now, in January 2004, after three months, the Fibromyalgia pain is gone! At 68 years of age, with only a few “creaks” in my joints once in a while, I feel good. My plan is to continue to loose some weight and join an exercise program to build up my strength. “I have experienced spiritual, physical and emotional healing in this nurturing environment.” In 1983 I had a fusion of my C6/C7 vertebrae after being immobilized and frozen in pain for over a week. I managed until 4/02 when I awakened with a crushing headache and was unable to move my head in any direction. My doctor sent me to the Paoli Hospital Emergency Room. After 9 hours they had taken a CAT Scan, x-rays, blood work, a complete neurological exam and requested a spinal tap to check for meningitis or cerebral hemorrhage, which I refused. I left the Emergency Room in as much pain as when I had arrived! I continued in agony the next 4 days when I decided to visit to visit my previous chiropractor. He instantly restored my mobility, but the improvement was only temporary. Unfortunately, that night, I awakened to a grinding sound I and I was back where I started. I repeated the visits 34 times but the success often didn’t even last until I got to my car. In mid-August, nothing he did helped. My head was totally immobilized from then until I found the wonderful people at Corrective Chiropractic in mid-November. In the intervening months I saw five top neurosurgeons at separate hospitals, all of who told me that I was inoperable. They said the risks of surgery were astronomical as my C3 vertebra was half way into my spinal cord and all of my neck vertebrae were collapsing together. They could do nothing. A neurologist prescribed Neurontin, Celebrex and Arthrotec with disastrous side effects. A nightmarish four hours at The Pain Clinic in Philadelphia was unsuccessful as they attempted to permanently paralyze the nerves where the muscles connected to my vertebrae in my neck. Physical therapy quickly made me worse. Acupuncture increased my pain. The final neurosurgeon prescribed a pain rehabilitation program where I would be given drugs and intensive counseling as I learned to live the rest of my life in debilitating pain. During the months preceding my discovery of Dr. Childs and Dr. Durr, I averaged 0-3 hours of sleep each night and was nearly delirious. Throughout these seven months of agony I continued to work. I felt terribly vulnerable driving, as I was unable to turn my head. I stopped all other activities. A friend told me about Corrective Chiropractic. When I arrived the first day, Felicia greeted me with her radiant smile. Sheryl kindly explained what I needed to do and got me started. Dr. Childs showed me my deformed spine and offered me the first real hope that I could be helped. I did not expect any results for weeks or even months but was ready to begin. “…my Fibromyalgia pain is almost non-existent.” Before I came to Corrective Chiropractic, I was suffering from low back pain, Fibromyalgia, and headaches. I had been living with these symptoms for over 5 years. Because of the pain, I had difficulty lifting my son, playing sports, and completing daily tasks. My family physician and a specialist both prescribed muscle relaxers and several other medications to help me cope with the pain. The medication did not cure my problem. “…I never dreamed that my quality of life would change this much in a few months.” This is one of the best days of my life…I received a call about my blood work today and was told that I was no longer anemic, my potassium level was good, my iron level was real good, my immune system was back to normal, the red and white blood cells were right on and everything else I was tested for was normal. I owe all of this to my good friends at Corrective Chiropractic. You see, I was a total mess when I started coming to their office in September of 2002. They had the faith of God and determination to make my health improve. I was looking for a little help, but I never dreamed that my quality of like would change this much in a few months. My Fibromyalgia is so minimal that I might as well say I don’t have any symptoms. In 1986 at age 32, I sustained traumatic injuries to my body. Over time when my physician said I was completely healed, I remained in pain. My pain also caused me to slump over and I developed poor posture. The first few years I was put on several kinds of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. They didn’t work, then steroids. I was first diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome and was told I needed anti-depressants and psychological therapy. My joint and muscle pain and fatigue continued over the years. I was sent to a Rheumatologist who then diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I again was given non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, steroids and antidepressants. I was told my brain didn’t relax when I slept and that was causing my pain and fatigue. The side effects from the medicine made me feel like I was in a fog and it became even more difficult to function. A neurologist who prescribed Neutrotin and diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia also saw me. Again the medicine made me foggy and I chose not to follow her recommendations. I just learned to cope with the discomforts. I was not physically active and laid on the couch most of the time. My symptoms affected my job and I took part time work. At the same time my gynecologist felt I should be on HRT and felt maybe I was going through menopause although I had no symptoms except for having a hysterectomy also in 1986. I developed cystic breast disease a year later and was monitored for breast cancer. In June 2002, I read an article in the Daily Local News from Dr. Childs about Fibromyalgia. His office sent me a booklet and free coupon for consult and exam with no obligation. Everything in the booklet described my symptoms and answered questions truthfully. I called and was given an appointment in 2 days. At my first visit I was extremely impressed with the knowledge I received from the physicians and staff. I was given a complete consultation, x-ray and exam and finally found out I had 5 subluxations, which could be corrected. I immediately started with adjustments, which improved my symptoms in the first week. Their office also gives valuable information about life and total health of your entire body. The staff is extremely helpful caring and knowledgeable. They also provided an exercise program to my needs; spinal care classes and educational programs. It has been 2 months since I started my adjustments at Corrective Chiropractic and I have improved 90%. I no longer need to visit my medical doctor and have thrown away all medicines, even my HRT medicine. My cysts on my breasts have shrunk 80% in size in the last 2 months. I am now 48 years old and have begun to look at myself as not of a middle-aged woman who expects to have aches and pains, but as a more functional, happier person whose life just begun. Mary Yohn

“…my energy level is back to at least 75%.” I have come to Corrective Chiropractic with a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. I was sent from one doctor to the other each adding another medicine to try and help my symptoms. I was swelling all over my body, had tingling in both hands and feet with numbness, and severe cramping throughout my body to the point I would have to sleep in a chair at night. I had always for years had pain but just chalked it up to arthritis or back pain or getting older. Then it got to the point where I was always in pain and couldn’t function at my normal capacity. I knew something was really wrong. I was sent to heart doctors, neurologists and others and tested for everything from Lyme disease to brain tumor to lupus and even ALS. Each doctor I went to give me another medicine so I was up to 8 pills a day in a matter of months but I wasn’t feeling any better. I didn’t even have the energy to get up off the sofa on many days. All tests came back negative but I was still taking all this medication and not feeling any better. Then my sister gave me a free exam voucher at Corrective Chiropractic that said they could help Fibromyalgia patients. I’ve only been seeing Dr. Childs and Dr. Durr for a month and already see such a difference. I’ve had no cramping at all since the first day I came here and enormous. My energy level is back 75% at least. I’m almost pain free most days and I’m now down to only 2 pills a day. I no longer take heart medication because after all the tests there’s nothing wrong with my heart. I don’t take hormone replacement therapy anymore or the diuretic medicine they put me on for the swelling. I have hypothyroidism so I take a thyroid pill and one other pill for restless leg syndrome but I’m also being weaned off that. And I feel 80% better. I can now shop with my family whereas before I couldn’t walk for more than a ½ hour before I could have severe hip pain. My intimate life was gone because I was just too exhausted and in too much pain. The doctors and their staff at Corrective Chiropractic are all so nice and very supportive. For the first time in a very long time I really turned around. From 8 pills a day to 2 pills a day and from constant severe pain to being almost pain free in a month. That tells me all.
